I was impressed by Carvers ready-to-eat offerings in their refrigerated case. When we were there during the week of Christmas, they were busy with lots of folks stocking up refrigerators and freezers and people buying gift certificates and gifts. A big favorite of our family is their beef jerky. They carry several types, sweeter barbecue, spicy, and it is fast mover based on the customers we saw. Most of it is less chewy than other butchers in the area, so it's worth trying before you buy to make sure you like it. It was also nice to get sliced cheese (Lipari) to have ready for the holiday tables and leftover sandwiches. If you are looking for something specific or want a large order, call ahead. They will pull the order for you and be ready with it when you arrive. This makes it easier on everyone! Also, they will vacuum seal almost anything so that it lasts longer in a cooler or freezer. Some places won't do this, so it is great service. It can get crowded, but the crowd and the service are friendly. His response was to inform me that he was the owner and hung up on me . I had to take the rotting pig carcass back to them they did replace it the next day . But as anyone that has ever done or attended a pig roast it takes a long time to cook a whole pig . So the event was ruined and they had a freezer full of roasted pork to deal with . One of the owners told me about the history of the shop (they've been open in the same location for 100 years!) and pointed out some of their products. He even gave me a sample of their kraki, a cured meat that is delicious. I love that they have everything you need for a BBQ - meat, buns from local bakeries, condiments (lots of mustards), and more. I bought some hot links, kielbasa dogs, buns, pretzels, focaccia made by Wealthy Street Bakery, and some kraki dip. It was only about $30 after the discount which was awesome!
