I had Rancho Cantina on my list of places to try for a long time. I had a free night and decided to go ahead and take the plunge. Also on the list was Los Agaveros, however, I looked and saw the Yelp rating (via Apple Maps) and opted for Rancho Cantina. I am so glad I followed Yelp's recommendation. I visited on a Monday evening and it wasn't too busy. They had wonderful mariachi playing and a big screen at the bar of the performance. I was told to sit wherever I wanted. I was given chips and salsa and a menu. The menu was huge. Lots of pages. So much to choose from, it looks like they serve it all. I went in expecting tex Mex but was pleasantly surprised. I got the Pechuga a la Plancha con Chorizo. It was down to either that or the Carne Asada. Since I always get carne adana I chose the Pechuga a la Plancha con Chorizo. I got Rice and beans, and corn tortillas. It came out very quickly. On a plate that was similar to fajitas. Sizzling and steamy. The smells coming off were amazing. The tortillas were home made and not store bought. The food was very good. The chicken was soft and cooked perfectly. The flavor was very good and I completely cleaned my plate. I will definitely return here. LaVergne is 2-0 on Mexican places now. Mexichina is very close by as well. I am well pleased. read more

I went into there for Mothers Day in a good mood to order a pitcher of Piña Colada Daiquiri so I asked Javier to make it for me then he ask Myrna to make it and instead of her, giving me the whole pitcher she pours a jumbo and takes it to another customer because she's too lazy to make one before she gives me my pitcher needless to say comes back and uses some of the pitcher that was made for me then blends it up with more ice to make the up the difference that was poured out. It wasn't even the same consistency after she did that needless to say, I didn't want it after that and it takes a lot to get me mad but I don't want her to make anything for me ever again. The food was excellent! Ambiance was nice has customers performed their favorite karaoke songs. Sis and my daughter loved the fajita we ordered... steak, shrimp, chicken and vegetables. The side salad of guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomato was great accompaniment. But the winner was the rice! We ordered to orders to go. The sauce bar was awesome too! read more

Not a family-friendly restaurant! I witnessed two grown adults inside the same stall. I informed an employee, but they just laughed and continued serving them absolutely unacceptable. There were kids in the restaurant, my daughter was about to walk into that stall until I stopped her after seeing this disgusting behavior. Instead of addressing the situation, the staff laughed it off and did nothing to remove those customers. On top of that, the food we were served was undercooked. They knew it wasn't fully cooked and still served it. I am extremely disappointed everything seemed fine at first, but as soon as we sat down, things went downhill. Visited on a Thursday evening around 6 while in town for a conference. Was very pleased with my choice. Pulled pork was lightly smoked. Tend to like mine a bit "smokier" but was good. Baked beans were average, coleslaw was quit good. Biscuits excellent. Sauce was good. More Memphis than Kansas City in consistency and flavor. The staff were great!! Friendly, courteous and helpful for someone who had not been there before. Atmosphere your average BBQ appearance. Prices not bad for today's current economics compared to some other BBQ restaurants I've been to recently. All-in-all, would recommend a visit. It's worth a try. read more

I used to like this place, until today. I went online and tried to place a pick up order. Twice it told me the order did not go through, so i tried to call in and place an order. Tried 3 times and got sent to a voicemail (for a restaurant? why would this even happen? So i thought fine, ill just make something at home. An hour later i go to check my email, and it says my order was processed and they took the payment. So i called up to to restaurant and FINALLY get someone. She says they have my order and no one came to pick it up. So i explain to her what happened n ask if they can cancel the order and refund my money. She Says "No sorry" and hangs up. No asking the manager, no can we give you a credit for next time, just hangs up. i tried calling back and got sent to a voicemail once again. My wife and I found this place a few weeks ago! Can't say enough good things about this place. Have traveled to 62 countries and I'm a foodie. Have had food all over the world. This place is equal to some of the best Mexican I've ever had. The folks that gave poor revues I'm wondering if it's the same place. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The menu is enormous. This Mexican restaurant just opened up recently and went to try it out. This will probably be one of my favorite places to go now since it's so close to we're I live and has Literally everything you'll want. Me and my family ordered two fajitas and a molcajete they were so delicious! The flavor of the food was so good. My fave place! I use to come here every other week for happy hour with my coworkers! Due to the increase in COVID, we aren't in the office at the same time so no happy house. Boo! The First and important thing , i forgot my wallet and my son's jacket. it was 8:55 pm when i left the restaurant so means no one entered after me Because time to close. I called them after leaving but no reply then i called then second day but they said we haven't anything for you and refused back to cameras and refused telling the man or the owner. That means they are crooks. And unfortunately i lost my money there and my son's jacket. second thing, Actually i went with my family. the staff has bad attitude and too poor service. the food is not good at all It's looks not fresh. The rice is cold and not tasty , the fish is too Dry and too bad taste, not fresh and so overcooked. The shrimp is overcooked also. The soup has bad smell, like not clean very well. Everything is not good at all. The prices are too expensive according to the service and the food. I don't recommend anyone to spend money or waste time there. We ate there last night for the first and last time! We ordered the Chimichanga dinner. It was not deep fried,tortilla was raw and gummy with cheese sauce on top. When asked by server 4 different times if everything was ok we told her no and explained the problem. She walked away each time. I couldn't eat it. She took my plate and left the check. Cashier asked same question,again we complained. She took payment without saying anything. We will not be back!! I would give 0 stars if it was an option read more

Very Good! There are tons of choices when it comes to Mexican in the LaVergne and Smyrna area and they're all pretty much the same.....except for this place! Their self serve bar with an array of salsas and pickled vegetables is wonderful. Also, the enchilada sauce is not typical and is very delicious. Excellent food at a good price with excellent friendly service. They have a hot sauce (several selections) and accouterments bar (peppers, onions, jalapeno) which contains spicy offerings that are not the norm for middle Tennessee where bland Mexican food seems to be the favorite. This Mexican Restaurant opened in the last 4-5 months and we have been wanting to try it. It replaced a Mexican restaurant at the same location that went out of business. So we tried it today, 8/11/19. First impression was good, friendly staff and immediate seating, which is too be expected at 5:15 pm on a Sunday. Server takes our drink order and someone brings us chips and salsa, normal for a Mexican restaurant. The Salsa had an overwhelming taste of Cilantro, which I personally do not like, so I was ok with that, because a lot of Mexican Restaurants use Cilantro. We order cheese dip (queso) and guacamole. The cheese dip was good. The guacamole was overwhelmed with onion and tomato and very little avacado. We ordered dinner. Mixed Fajitas for one person and a combo platter (burrito, soft tacos) for the other. The food arrived in stages, instead of all together. The mixed fajitas was supposed to have chorizo, and it did not. The combo platter was as ordered. The food was cold and very bland. The rice was "clumpy", the refried beans were "liquidy". No tortillas were delivered with the fajitas, which normally you do not have to ask for, but we did. We took about 2 bites a piece, paid the $47 + dollar tab, and left, vowing never to come back. This was not only the worst Mexican food we have ever eaten, this may be in the top 5 of worst Restaurants we have ever visited. After we left, we called some friends who we frequently dine out with, and told them, and they said they had eaten there when it first opened and it was horrible to them too. Very bad experience, but not to worry, it will likely not be open long, and perhaps a restaurant with better food will open there. read more
