After reading previous review reviews, I was a little apprehensive, walking in knowing what many others had experienced with their customer service. I will say when I walked in there was somebody who promptly greeted me and my husband, when we walked in and made some small talk. As we peruse the store, I did experience a little of what other people were saying as the employee seemed to keep popping up to chat with us as we per the store. I can understand why some customers may think that it may come off as the employees are watching you while you shop. I don't think that was what was happening at all. I think they were trying to definitely just be more friendly and welcoming, but I think they do need to tone down how many times they pop up while you are walking around the store. All of the items they have to offer are a fabulous quality and definitely a great spot to pick up gifts for others. When I'm in the area, I will definitely pop in and shop again.

My friend was coming in to exchange an item or swap it out for another item. After shopping around and finding another jacket that she liked we inspected the jacket because it was white and we wanted to make sure it was free of damage. We came across black marks on all of these white jackets and brought it up to an employee at the front. They attempted to clean it with a paper towel and maybe water? But unfortunately no luck. They mentioned that she could try to clear it with upholstery cleaner after she purchased it but at the price point of over $100 my friend decided to pass. She ended up returning her item and receiving store credit. The reason for my 3/5 rating is due to the expensive clothing being stained and the awkward exchange. Overall, I would come back and give this place a chance when in need of a unique gift.

And I looked everywhere, up and down the stairs, in and out of CVS and the Deluxe market. I did find one restroom on the upper level, but it required a key code to enter. When I asked at a nearby business if they would be so kind as to give a desperate old lady the code, I was rather rudely told that it was "tenants only." C'mon, Deer Park! Give us a break here, okay?

My only complaint is the parking, it always feels like it's packed with tourists (even in the off season.) Or maybe no one knows how to drive? When I stopped by this past weekend to be disappointed again, they called the Aptos store which happened to have my size in the boot I liked, and the Aptos staff was able to put it on hold for me. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find that that the place was more than just a shoe store. It was an entire gift shop, with clothing, puzzles, and quirky items of all kinds on display. I explored the merchandise they had in the store, from unicorn themed books & ornaments to cozy pajamas made of the softest material ever. It was tempting, but I purchased my lovely new black comfortiva boots and was on my way. If you can look past the outrageous pricing, there's much to appreciate about this cute lil shop. A nice variety of unique products and designs, friendly service, and free & easy parking.

Super easy exchange! And the gentleman helping me was extremely friendly and attentive, as well as his fellow coworkers! The only setback is the color design I received as a gift, was no longer available in store. I was pretty bummed, But I was informed when I received the gift to go back as soon as possible to make sure I got the same one. The employee also said that I could come check out new designs coming in, in a couple of weeks if I wanted instead. It was very helpful. Instead, I went with a navy blue one to match my daughter! Can't go wrong with matching Santa Cruz merch
