Best dental experience I've had here yet. We moved here two years ago and I've tried a couple different places. Rancho Del Oro Dental from beginning to end have exceeded my expectations. Rachel called me a couple times prior to my appointment to make sure she had all of the correct info. I'm thankful for this because the last place I went couldn't care if my insurance covered what I was being seen for. Kenny was my dental hygienist and did a great job explaining about gum disease, taking xrays and cleaning my teeth. He was super considerate about my one year old who I had to tote along with me. The dentist was awesome as well. She took the time to understand what the other office was telling me and helped set the record straight on my teeth (the other place was telling me I had so many cavities and that I needed them fixed that day along with some laser cleaning). Turns out I had only two small cavities in the back and didn't need any of that crazy treatment (mind you, I haven't had a cavity before in my 34 years of living, so I knew that my teeth weren't that terrible)! This place is a rip off They will charge you an insane amount and up charge everything and then come back months and even three years and claim your bill hasn't been paid even though it most certainly has been paid. Someone needs to do something about these scam artist that work at the dentistry my first Crown they took so much tooth away that it came off and they had to redo it within 12 months and they charged me another $5000 to do it again. read more

These people are greedy scam artists and slightly incompetent. They schedule you for more cleanings than what your insurance will pay, don't way anything at the time of the appointment and then hit you with a bill months later. If it is extra - I feel they should be upfront about that at the time of service, not months later. I'm not the only one this happened to as I witnessed it happening as I sat there in their waiting room. Now for the incompetent part - they have trainees doing some the of the work, and they don't watch the trainee doing the work. I had to go back multiple times get impressions and scans done. The "flipper plate" they produced didn't fit and caused pain, so it was useless and I spent $250 for nothing at their recommendation. They seem nice, but they really just want your wallet. read more

Zero stars! They scam people. People who have legit insurance. A simple cleaning under insurance that should cost a $25 copay, they then send you a bill for the other $250. They also charge $45 for the fluoride rinse the give you. They have triple billed me in the past. They are terrible people. Don't go there. Go elsewhere! The dental work is good, but the billets at the front of the office are crooks. It's two females, one is much older than the other. I went in for a filling today, and the younger one said I had a $250 deductible. I paid $100 with my credit card and she said they will auto charge my card for the rest in one month...this place loves to pressure you into leaving them post dated checks and auto charges on your credit card. I left and my gut instinct told me something was wrong. I called my insurance and sure enough, my deductible is only $50, and my filling is covered 90%. The insurance company said all of my policy info was up to date so the biller was either careless or trying to cheat me. My money is on the latter. There's no reason she should have gotten the wrong info. And the older biller told me she verified my insurance before my appointment. I don't think they counted on me questioning them.They also said I should be credited $37 today, but I doubt I will be. Now they have my credit card number, I have an inaccurate receipt, and no documentation of correct charges, and it makes me nervous. I will be going back to pick up my records and my X-rays so that I can find a more honest place. I was told those belong to me and they have to give them to me if I ask. I will also be contacting the Attorney General. Something just isn't right with this place. 2/13/18 update My EOB arrived and I still had not received a refund. The EOB said my patient responsibility is $62.92, and I'm due a $37.08 refund. I called blue cross, explained what happened, and the insurance rep called RDO. Melina answered the phone and it didn't take long for her to dispute the refund amount. She insisted the contracted amount (the amount the insurance company agrees to pay for a covered service)was $200. This meant my refund would be $12 less. The BC agent told her their contracted amount is only $179, but Melina still argued claiming the info came right from BC's documentation. The BC agent had to conference in another agent from contract pricing. That agent confirmed the $179 amount, and said has been since 2015. Melina was using outdated pricing from 2010. She claimed she never got correct info. BS. Warning to all: double check with your insurance what the contracted billing amount is. Rancho Del Oro has been over charging people with Blue Cross for more than two years now. I told Melina to mail me my refund AND my dental records. No way in hell will I patronize these liars and crooks. I suggest others do the same. read more

My family has been going here for 3 years now. With flu season upon us, I told the receptionist last week that I would be calling next week to cancel because I was coming down with it, as predicted. I called to cancel and she said they needed a two day cancellation notice (not a one day) or I have to pay $50! Even though I told them last week!! My son has the flu and I called to cancel his dental appointment but am still being charged $50 if I miss the visit. I advised the office staff that he has a 101 fever and if they won't waive the fee I'll have to bring him in and will not be responsible if anyone in their office gets sick. Anna's response," That's ok, I just got over a cold and my boys are sick so I'll probably get sick again. Go ahead and bring him in." Without a care for any other patients who will be in the office at the time. This office is ridiculous, nickel and diming you for everything and risking the health of its patients. Be warned! I was told that I would be charged 50$ for canceling my appt day of, and I'm listening to the secretary tell someone over the phone they will be charged 100$ for canceling! I see no signage stating there will be a charge for canceling. I was not told there is a charge when I made the appointment. Oh! And get ready for multiple reminder calls I believe it was a total of 3. Now onto today's appt. I have been here 10min and they have yet to acknowledge me being here. I very rarely give bad ratings, but today I received a $50 bill for not canceling. I went online to setup an appointment a day later I received a text message with their availability. We went back and forth with the time/date until I found a suitable time for me. Unfortunately, I was unable to keep it and I text them back to cancel. The day before the appointment I get a reminder call, so I call them to verify the appointment is cancelled, it wasn't cancelled. I told her that I cancelled using the text message option, she then told me that was fine asked me if I wanted to reschedule and I said that I would call back. Then she told me that there is going to be a $50 cancellation fee. I told her that I did cancel and I did not understand why they would charge me. She said that she would waive it this time but next time I needed to cancel. Fast forward a couple of weeks and now I have a bill in my hand! Reading the rest of the reviews it seems that billing is an issue with other patients. read more

My family has been coming here for 20 years or more. The dentist and their assistants were very friendly and professional, made me feel welcome. But the last few years the dental hygienist has not been good. Worst of all the receptionists have no integrity and not honest or friendly they don't care about you! All they do is nickel and dime you. It's a disappointment because I do like the dentist and assistants, but will have to say goodbye. read more

Came here searching for a new dentist. Everything was on point from beginning to end. I'm horrible to take x-rays with and they were understanding and patient. Not only that, but I have a horrible fear of the dentist. The doctor was very nice and explained everything in detail. They have a screen in front of your chair to explain everything to you as well. The front desk was kind as well! Overall this has been my best experience yet with a dentist. I see that there are quite a few billing complaints. Since I am new, I have yet to see. I hesitated to write this because I don't take giving low ratings lightly. I was going to this office before the previous dentist passed away. I really loved going here and never had bad experiences. The last time I came here with my daughter, it was a different, younger dentist that took over the practice. I go to the dentist regularly and have had previous dentists tell me that I was fortunate to have extremely hard tooth enamel and never get cavities. Imagine my surprise when I was getting my teeth cleaned and the hygienist stopped and tried to tell me that she was going to reschedule me for a deep cleaning which would cost almost $200 out of pocket. Huh?!?!? I've NEVER in my life needed a deep cleaning since I go every few months. Seriously?!? I told her to finish my cleaning because I wasn't coming back for a deep cleaning that I didn't need. She insisted and I told her to finish. Do they get commission or something on this??? I was already a little miffed by that when the dentist came in and told me that my daughter had three cavities that needed to be filled. Hmmm. Ok. He then told ME that I had two cavities. Um. I'm in my 40s and have never had a cavity in my life. Everything just felt like a money grab and I couldn't wait to get out of there. The reason I hesitated about giving a bad review is because even though It was uncomfortable with them clearly trying to get extra money out of me...maybe my daughter and I DID suddenly have cavities??? I don't know. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I decided to try a different dentist when we were due for another cleaning and sure enough....without me saying anything about the previous dentist, this new dentist said my daughter and I both have ZERO cavities....just like always. No deep cleaning needed. Now I have no DOUBT that it was a money grab. I get that times are tough, but that is NOT the way to gain loyal customers. My Husband and I recently relocated back to Oceanside and found Dr Lang. She has been great and when my husband lost his crown she was able to get him in quickly. I have been a patient at Ranch Del Oro for 15 years. Althoght the owners/ Doctors have changed over the years, they have all given me excellent care. Dr Johnson years ago. I'm am currently being treated by Dr. Zand he is professional and personable. I m also satisfied getting my teeth cleaned at this office regularly. I was so happy that my insurance was still accepted by this group, I had gone to them about 4 yrs ago and had an amazing experience. Not this time.... Desk staff was less than friendly, I arrived 15 min early incase I had paperwork to do. There was no paperwork and so I sat and waited, there was NO one in the waiting area and no one out back. The secretary and a tech proceeded to talk the whole entire time about social things. A little tacky, finally went out back almost 30 min after my appointment time. read more

Been coming on and off 10yrs. They are rude especially Rachel the receptionist is very unprofessional and horrible to even my kids. I ended up with nerv damage from a filling and was hurt badly then insulted. Rachel is relentless with calling you and threatens to send you to collections, screaming at you over the phone even when you have already set up payments, they charge you before approved through insurence so watch out do not have work done till you know insurence has approved it. Rachel is the downfall of that office and is horrible to even kids. I have a special needs son and she has been rude giving him dirty looks. She has an atitude when you try to talk to her and will interrupt you explaining anything. There are nicer people in the office but Rachel ruins it with her bad atitude. The female dendist doesn't have as much experience and ended up hurting me but it was after Rachel got into an argument in waiting area because I refuse to set appointment for anything not approved yet since we get charged and threatened to be sent to collections. So it was almost to get back at me because when she worked on my 10yr old daughter she did fine but that was before Rachel started an argument in waiting room in front of my son. I had to cancel appointments and Rachel threatened to charge me anyway and send me to collections for payment arrangements already settled. I think they should be investigated and Rachel fired never to work with people especially kids in medical care. read more

I had the worst experience in this dental clinic with the staff. Particularly with Rosie who claims to be the Office Manager. She was very rude, when I was talking to the front desk receptionist she would constantly interfere and make some nasty comments which I disregarded at first. Then when I asked the technician to give me my toothbrush after cleaning Rosie was shaking her head and mumbling. The worst is she called my previous dentist office and conspired right in front of me telling some in accurate things. Then I told her that her rudeness is uncalled for and she needs to learn some manners she responded that her feeling were mutual. REALLY? I would NEVER recommend this place to anybody and would NEVER want anyone to experience such unprofessional, rude and uncalled for attitude. read more

First, I would like to say that we LOVE Dr. Mudgett. He takes care of our entire family, and we have gone to him for several years, both at this location and the one in La Costa. The prices in Oceanside are MUCH better than La Costa as they price discriminate, so our insurance out of pocket dictates we go to Oceanside (since reasonable and customary charges are the same low rate and we can't afford to pay the difference). So we go to the Oceanside location to see Dr. Mudgett. Apparently, they are now no longer open in Oceanside on 3 out of the 4 Fridays per month! So, if you have a dental emergency (like I do) on the wrong Friday (gee, who plans for these things) you are out of luck until Monday. Just so I could assure myself that I wasn't crazy, I went to their website which of course still says they are open on Friday from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. So....beware if you need dental care on a Friday YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK! Wish they would have let their regular patients know about the change. That's why they get only 3 stars from me, mainly for "lack of service options" on Friday. read more
