Waste of time. Don't go here if you're pregnant! I filled out all of my insurance information and medical history in advance for their online check-in. This history included the fact that I'm pregnant. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment to make sure check-in was complete, and they still had not verified my insurance. They informed me that the dentist wanted to perform x-rays before my routine cleaning, and I let them know I was not comfortable with that considering I am in first trimester of pregnancy and I would like to proceed with a standard cleaning and save the x-rays for after delivery. Waited another 30 minutes for them to say that the dentist would not do even a basic cleaning, despite the fact that I am healthy, and X-rays are not medically necessary. The only reason they gave was that it has been a while since my last X-rays so the dentist was insisting that x-rays be done before a routine cleaning. What a silly reason. Not a medical or clinical justification, just, "it's been a while." They also did not think to let me know in advance that this would be required even though I included it on my E check-in information. I wasted over an hour and took time off work to be here only to find out that they will not help me. I understand the Dentist wanting to have as much information as possible to do a thorough exam as X-rays provide information about oral health that you can't see otherwise. I even understand they may fear liability if something is missed without the X-rays. However, if a Dentist truly cares about the oral health of a patient, don't you think providing at least a routine cleaning is better than doing nothing at all? It appears at this office the ability to bill insurance for x-rays is more important than actually helping the patient. Although the risks of harm by an xray to a growing fetus is relatively low, why would I take on any risk at all? For moms who want to skip X-rays due to pregnancy, keep in mind that this office is only able to accommodate the needs of non-pregnant people. read more

I had a front vernier replaced today (#10) by Dr. Brar, who made sure I was comfortable during the removal of the old vernier. She was assisted by Ikenna, who did a great job with the suction wand by preventing water buildup in my throat. This greatly contributed to my comfort during the grinding. I was concerned about color matching since my original verniers were Zirconia material made overseas. Dr. Brar took extra care to select a the right color and gave the 'scanner technician' special instructions for achieving a symmetrical smile. The final result was beyond my expectations. It is virtually impossible to detect the vernier that is not Zirconia (see pic). I have the highest regard for Dr. Brar and the Del Oro Smiles staff. read more

I ordered a Mouth Guard back in May and prepaid for it. They received it in June never called to schedule the delivery. I called in August to inquire about it that's when I found out they received in June. They never apologized or seemed remorseful for their mistake. This office extremely exaggerated my dental diagnosis so that they could charge me for multiple root canals, fillings and crowns and even scared me by telling me I needed a lot more work done. They just wanted me to pay to upgrade my crowns from silver to porcelain which was not necessary as I walked in with absolutely no pain in my mouth. Shame on the dentists that work here that also up-sale their services because this is exactly why people don't like going to the dentist in the first place - we're scared of being taken advantage of. I'd recommend taking your business to Surf Smile Family Dentistry for premium service and better care right across the street, they give you their honest professional opinions, they're ran by a married couple (both dentists) and they are military veterans. Went in for basic cleaning, came out with a supposed cavity filling and 2 preventative cavity stuff that I have no idea if I even received! Was given a deep cleaning with no numbing medication and a tooth that had a crack, she only filed down 1/3 of it! My mouth was sore for a good week, that's how this not so gentle dentist work was. At one point, she took her mirror and pounded it in a tooth and said does that hurt? WTF you think? Unreal! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. STAY AWAY. I recently turned 26 and had to get a new insurance plan, so I came here. I was told I didn't have any cavities but that I needed a deep cleaning and root planing all which would have costed me over 1000 dollars out of pocket after what my insurance would have covered. I also wanted to get new retainers, and here they had the wire kind which I was fine with but found out they charged 500 PER retainer and with my insurance coverage about 350 per retainer. I did not feel like they were being honest with my and felt like all they care about is money, so I walked out and decided to get a different opinion. I went to a different dentist who not only told me I don't need a deep cleaning (I got a regular cleaning plus another exam which the both of which were covered completely by my insurance). Not only this, I got another quote on retainers (the clear kind not the wire type) and as it turns out they cost 500 dollars out of pocket for BOTH top and bottom. And that's WITHOUT any insurance coverage. I cannot state this more clearly when I say this place is scamming people. I have never been so disappointed in an office and the customer service offered. I debated on writing this however something needs to be done. I gave them 3 weeks to follow through with a call back from their office manager so I can get my 2 year old referred to a pediatric dentist (they don't see under age 6) One of the doctors openly expressed they are short staff, this is no excuse for NO call back to handle a simple request. These guys are a nightmare, and do not care about you or your health. The worst dentists I've ever seen. They only care about how much money they can extract from you. Surprise bills are fun! In the 20 or so visits I made to this place over the last 3 years I had only seen my doctor (Victoria Nguyen) 3 times. They don't even have the real doctor come visit to check your teeth. They just have the hygienist do it all without any oversight. And they intentionally do not clean parts of your teeth during teeth cleanings so that they can make future work for themselves. This place has done irreparable damage to my teeth. I went back to my previous dentist and he was shocked at what an awful job they did. The most recent crown they put on is completely useless and will need to be redone. It's open in the back so it never had a proper seal, and decay can spread under the crown. The level on it is completely wrong too and is multiple centimeters too long, which ruins my bite. The "fix" that Del Oro Smiles did was grind away the opposite tooth to unacceptable levels. When they initially made the crown it popped off FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES. They were so scared that they literally had to use a different epoxy that isn't even designed for teeth, because they couldn't actually get the crown they made to stay on for more than 12 hours. Absolute fucking nightmare. They lie and tell you that you need root canals on teeth that you are experiencing NO pain in. They lie to you and tell you that your teeth are much worse than they really are. They even lie about the gum depths to make it sound like you're not taking care of your teeth. They request expensive procedures on your good teeth, while ignoring the teeth that need help. They won't even help you find the issues when you tell them where they are. My old dentist was able to immediately spot the cavity that had been causing me pain when these guys "couldn't spot it" after multiple x-rays and even a CBCT! The damage they did to one tooth alone was bad enough that now I need a tooth extraction and a dental implant on a tooth that was perfectly fine 3 years ago. AVOID DEL ORO SMILES LIKE THE PLAGUE! They will ruin your teeth with no care for your health! That's not even all of it... Believe it or not I could actually go on more! read more

I almost left this establishment due to their receptionist/billing person. The first time I came by, she didn't have the answer to my basic questions and there were just too many confusions or miscommunications regarding billing for our following visits. As a family, we prefer to be told ALL financial choices but we were just not getting that tailored discussion. As it turns out, she no longer works there so...I decided to stay! Dr. Nguyen was friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable. My X-ray technician was also kind and efficient. I had a cleaning today with Kennedy and it went well. She has the lightest hands that worked on me ever! The pricing here may be more than my previous dentist in San Marcos though because I ended up having a co-pay when I never had to pay for a maintenance cleaning in the past. The facilities is very new so everything is clean and updated. There are sufficient amount of parking spaces and several stores and food spots around. BEWARE. You'll get large surprise bills which were not explained to you before the procedure. They have all of my insurance information. Before each procedure they are supposed to check with the insurance to see if it is covered and what the copays are, if any. It doesn't look like they do that. Hence, you'll end up with a large bills that are due AFTER paying all the large sums of copays. And they are expensive! Overall, their service is poor. One time they also cancelled my appointment without notice because of their staff schedule change. I found out that your appointment was cancelled after I arrived at the office. Dont' know where to start. Over a year ago I had a 'Root Canal' that needed to be re-done. In leu of doing it over again they offered me a 'Mouth Gurad' & I jumped at the chance however it turned out to be a cheap, rubbery, large Mouth Guard that never fit right. A year later I decided to give them another chance... ( Dummy Me ) Getting a Crown put on where I was in extreme distress the last 15 minutes when it was being 'fitted.' They used too much leverage next to my tongues which 'hurt' for a week & rubbed against the NEW CROWN scraping my tongue. Plus my front took became chipped on the bottom where the Dentist had her fingers... again applying too much 'leverage' on my front teeth. Plus I had to go to another location that day because all their computers were down. ( What?? ) After having one of the 'Best Dentists' in Scottsdale, AZ. My Son went there because he had lots of pain in his tooth on Aug 24. He had a root canal and crown the Dentist Dr A did not seal the crown my Son even paid for the better crown. Since his crown was not sealed correctly my son developed a bacterial infection he was in allot of pain and he had swelling on his jaw. He went back to Del Oro Smiles to complain of his pain and they subscribe him pain pills and antibiotics. My Son still was not healing and he looked like he had two tongues and could not have eat or open his mouth he could hardly breathe so I took him to the ER and the doctor gave him two shots for the swelling to go down. The doctor provided a note that said he needed to finish the procedure or get his tooth pulled out. We got appointment in San Diego where Dr A was at all he did was unseal the crown and give shots to the infected area and sent him home. He said to call him or office if the pain and swelling did not subside or get better. Next day my Son called office to let them know he was still in pain he needed the tooth pulled out. Del Oro Smiles said they would call him back with appointment no call so my Son called Dr A and told him he needed the tooth pulled my Son was called 8:30am told him he had appointment in San Diego at 1000am to get tooth pulled at another Dentist office. The Dentist told my Son if he was his Dentist and saw all the infection he would of pulled out the tooth that same day because it's dangerous for bacterial infection to get that bad it could of swell up my Sons throat and he would of not breathed. AVOID-OVERCHARGING AND POOR TIME MANAGEMENT!!!!! I originally came in for a routine check up and to have two teeth examined. My first ever visit I sat around for a little over an hour with no sign of the doctor. Only after saying I needed to go did the dentist finally come in. She examined my teeth and informed me I had a root canal on a tooth that didn't even bother me. Stupidly I trusted her and set up my appointment for my root canal. Day of the root canal, I was taken back over an hour after my scheduled appointment time. The entire process felt rushed since they were running late for everyone's appointments which is scary since I was getting a root canal. I come back 2 weeks later to get my final crown and guess what? I spent 4 hours in that office and only saw someone for about 20 minutes of that time!!! A few months later I call to make an appointment since my root canal was having severe pain. I got the first appointment of the day and even took time off of work for it and they called to cancel on me 5 minutes prior to my scheduled time. Now I am dealing with them trying to charge me more for services I never even received 6 months after my first appointment not to mention they overcharged me severely for all services I actually received. I only found out because my insurance caught onto it. The ladies at the front desk were kind in the beginning but now refuse to call me back, probably because they know they are in the wrong. Take my advance and avoid this place. They only care about the money coming into their accounts and couldn't care less about your mouth. I don't know how they are still open. read more

Best Dental Experience Ever. I am so comfortable eating now I might put on some weight! I called to make an Appointment with Dr. Victoria Nguyen who was highly recommended by my family member.
