We enjoyed dining at this colorful and quaint Tex Mex restaurant. This was my second time here. Ordered the shrimp skillet and the Gringos Fajitas. Really liked the Gringos Fajitas. It was quite delicious. The rice, beans and salsa were on point. Shrimp skillet was decent. The portions were huge and we had leftovers. The ambiance was colorful and it really contributed a spirit of vibrance to the dining experience which we appreciated. The meal was also relaxing and away from the maddening crowd. If I needed a Tex Mex fix, I'd prefer dining here over the popular Tex Mex chains nearby. read more

We were greeted by friendly employees upon entering. Nice atmosphere. Extensive menu. Got the queso blanco, good flavor. The salsa was warm of which I'm not a fan of but it did have a good flavor. The fajitas poblanas chicken which came out sizzling and tasted good. Also the chicken fajitas, had good flavor but were not sizzling. I liked their rice. Got the dirty donkey burrito which was mid. The service was ok, could have been a bit more attentive and friendly but wasn't terrible. Overall this won't be our go to but I'd definitely eat here again. read more

It was a busy night and we seriously didn't know where to go for dinner. We chose mexican food and the list was too long, so we decided to go to the first place on the list with chimichanga on the menu. The establishment is super cool. It was still sunny when we arrived and once inside the hosts were very social and engaging. We were seated within two minutes. There was a birthday party going on. We got to place our order and the food came out pretty quick. We were very glad ad we were starving at that point. All i can say is that all the food we ordered was deliciously prepared. Very authentic! Great ambiance, the staff seem to rnjoy being here. Plenty of big tables for big families! l ordered a dirty donkey, which the waiter joked was "the kids plate" - an enchilada over a foot long with a pound of stuffing. The food was ok. Smaller sized shrimp than previously ordered. The refried beans were horrible. Very watery consistency The service at 5/30 on a normal Saturday was AWFUL. No one asked if we needed anything. Not more water or chips. No asking if our meal was satisfactory. No nothing. In fact we didn't see a server until she came with the check. I had a pretty good experience at Rancho grande. The birria was yummy and the salsa was delicious. The service could've been slightly better. I got the birria enchiladas and they were really delicious. The birria tasted so good! The gravy was good too. A standout was the rice, not sure why it was so amazing but it was really good. The chili con queso was also pretty good. The fajitas were a little dry. Also - there was a random French fry thrown in with the fajita veggies and meat? We were left for quite a while though waiting to get our order taken. I think I ate 3 baskets of chips while we waited for our waiter to come take our order. This kinda sucked, I'm not sure why he didn't come take our order. Also, the restaurant vibe was good but amazing. The tree out front was nice, but it felt kinda generic. Came here on a cold rainy February Saturday evening, pleasantly surprised that it was quite packed but quickly found seats near the door! We had two waiters assigned to us and they were very friendly and helpful! The traditional tortilla chips were warm and asked for both the red and green salsas and yellow con queso! Delicious to say the least! We could probably rather just that and been full and satisfied! We ordered and the foods arrived warm and fresh within 10 mins of ordering! The Torta Mexican sandwich was fresh and tasted soft and delicious! The pork tasted exactly the way I remembered it. It was very filling to say the least! The Burrito, red rice and beans were also excellent! Sopaipilla was fresh, crispy and warm with cinnamon, honey sauce which was a perfect way to end a very filling meal! My family and I got takeout from here and it wasn't what we expected. In our opinion, it's not authentic Mexican cuisine and lacks quality. The chips in our nachos were burned and the meat on it had that dog food taste to it. They also used liquid nacho sauce. Not that that's a bad thing however I prefer shredded, melted cheese. We got a side of fries which was a joke (picture attached). We prefer the Magnolia location. Their service is always the best. Most of their wait staff have been there a long time. Margaritas are very good. You gotta try their Fiesta fajitas (not on the menu). You get a variety of meats and veggies. My wife and I split an order for one and sometimes have leftovers to take home. Just moved to Tomball and was craving some fajitas so I called in an order here, the girl (which I'm assuming is the same VERY sweet girl I spoke with at the front when I picked up my order) was very informed and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I got the Tex Mex combo, queso blanco, and a strawberry frozen margarita (20oz) and it was all REALLY good, great quality for the price. All 3 items came out to $38! So this was recommended to me by somebody I was working with while on the road. I went with the stuffed avacado because I'd never heard of such a thing! It was really good. I had it with the fajita shrimp stuffing. So imagine if you will... you stuff a whole avacado with seasoned jumbo shrimp. You then (somehow... not sure) surround that whole avacado with a white cheese and then fry all of that so that it comes out looking like a golden brown rather large egg. As you slice into it, you get layers of the thin breading crust, the cheese, the avacado, and the shrimp... quite tastey. I also had their chips and salsa which were extremely good and fresh with a nice spicy heat to the salsa. I would definately go back if I make it back to the area. The service was also fantastic even though I was there during a slow time between lunch and dinner. Quite often I've found that servers get even slower when there aren't many people to serve. My parents are both in wheel chairs and they accommodated us amazingly! My dad had the El Grande and my mom had fajitas, they were wonderful! I asked about an off menu item, papa nachos, and he offered to make it for me. People from other tables were asking me about it. It was wonderful. We have always loved Rancho Grande in Tomball, however something has changed - not in a good way. They were not busy except for our party but the service was lacking. They have the best Tex Mex cheese enchiladas! I also love the shrimp Diablo! Bacon and jalapeño wrapped shrimp (or chicken) with tortillas. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. It's a great laid back atmosphere. This restaurant is also a huge supporter of local school and community events! Thank you for supporting our kids! I left a review less than 6 months ago and they're still great! I had another event here with 20+ faculty members from Tomball College. This time I had a benefits presentation. The staff did everything they could to help accommodate me with my projector, hanging the make-shift screen I made, and of course taking care of all of my guests as soon as they walked in the door. I definitely recommend this place. The fajita lunch platter is good and so decently priced. Javier was an AWESOME server and I enjoy working with Ever. Been coming here for Mexican food for 30 years since I live 2 blocks away. It has had its ups and downs through the years but definitely at an all time low and yesterday's experience is the nail in the coffin. Party of 4 ordered (2) Sheriff fajitas. Tasteless, tough and ridiculously small servings for the money. They should issue masks to the waitstaff so you know your getting robbed. Really sad. This place surprised me. I expected a typical Mexican restaurant. This has been one of the best in town. Granted my favorite is downtown Houston but this was spectacular. This is one of the very very few Mexican Restaurants that was open for dining in May 1st. Very welcoming. Everything was great, atmosphere, drinks and food. The wait staff was attentative. This restaurant was probably one of the first, if not the first, Mexican (Tex-Mex) restaurants in Tomball. Maybe back in the 90's it was "the best in town" because locals didn't know any better and there wasn't much to choose from. Could have also been because food tastes better when you're drunk. I recall eating here at 11 yrs old and thinking it was bad. I ate here when I was younger (21) when friends and I wanted cheap drinks and food. Most certainly not because the food is great. I recently visited here and have to say that it's still not good food and now overpriced. Drinks are still strong so there's that positive aspect. However, there's plenty of significantly better Mexican restaurants I'd rather go to. read more
