Love coming here any chance I get. From the outside, it's an unassuming spot in a strip center, but step inside and it's an absolute delight. The hospitality is casual, while also warm, and accommodating. When they first opened, you could walk in and get a table almost anytime. These days, I recommend calling ahead because they've become deservedly busy--and I'm so happy to see it. The enmoladas are a standout, the salsas are fantastic, and the alambre is my personal guilty pleasure. I also love that mezcal is offered alongside the tequila selections in their cocktails. This is not Tex-Mex. The menu draws primarily from the culinary traditions of Mexico City and Puebla. Mandi Cocina has become a place I'm always excited to return to. read more

Picture this-a weary day, a lunch forgotten, you return to your house to discover nothing in the fridge and a husband with zero plans for dinner. We've all been there. However, today, instead of leaning into a familiar go to, and after passing by driving on the parkway without giving them a second glance, I decided to double back and grab a takeout order from Mandi Cocina Mexicana. In a sea of Tex Mex, Mexican Food sounded like a refreshing alternative. And although the shopping strip was unassuming, the interior floors were concrete and the booths dated, the energy around dinner time, antique decor, Mexican tile work and smiles of the servers had my mouth watering in anticipation of trying the food. The food itself was fine. I can't say that the cuisine stood out any more than other competitors, but then again we only tried a few dishes. Specifically, my husband found the quesadillas to be standards, and I found the fajita meat to be juicy, but the meat, onions and peppers lacking the sear and char you'd expect from the dish. The friendly waitress explained to us that the lunch specials were just smaller portions and not necessarily a better deal. This is Mexican, not Tex-Mex. The chips and salsa were ok. The enchiladas verdes tasted decent but somehow, I wasn't bowled over by the dish. Lunch Fajitas - chicken was good and does the job. The cheese sauce was a tasty dip for the chicken. Corn tortillas were ok. Chose charro beans over refried beans - ok. Overall, I would describe the mexican food as light and fresh. My favorite was the taste and texture of the rice. It just had the perfect crunch yet light and tasty. Loved it - would be great for daily eats. Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was good. It was a great lunch. We loved the ambiance and the food was yummy.. We ordered off the lunch menu after lots of doctors' visits. My mom ordered enchiladas verdes. It was two enchiladas so a great lunch portion. I ordered pastor street tacos. Per the server, I was provided street tacos asada. That was not what I ordered. If it was asada, it tasted great but I ordered pastor. They charged me for the asada street tacos, I took the chit to the server and she updated the receipt. But claimed I received the asada tacos. Barbacoa tacos were good, the chips and salsa also really delicious. Friend had a Chile relleno that also was really good along with the rice and the beans . The service attention to the client was also really good. The only reason a 4 star instead of 5 is because they don't have free refills on the soft drinks but reg tea or water. I had a agua fresca 12 oz cup and only had one side . So if you a thirsty dude like me .. get ready for multiple charges .. Place is also small but that's what makes it personal . The first time we attempted a visit, there was a long wait list which convinced us that we need to come back. It was well worth the return visit. They are not a large restaurant so fewer tables allowed for very good service. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. They have a wide array of food and drinks on the menu that were really hard to choose from. We had the fajitas and the soaps and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Smaller place just off the freeway. The staff were friendly enough, though the host/helper was the one that did everything and the waiter basically just took our order. Their salsa is warm but not spicy. They did have a habanero salsa they charge $2 for about an ounce but it spiced up the house salsa real good. The soda comes in a can. The food has good presentation. It was warm but not hot. Had decent flavor. Fajitas should sizzle when they come out. These did not and the veggies were not all the way cooked. The host/helper did good at keeping the chips full. It took quite a long time to get our drink order and then even to take our order. Not the best but not the worst. I'd eat here again if a friend asked me to come but it wouldn't be my first choice. And definitely a bit high priced. read more

We were in the Tomball area and wanted to try something new. Read the reviews on this establishment and we decided to give it a try. WOW! The food was delicious, including the starter salsa that was served WARM! Me likie! We had enchiladas and tacos al carbon. The fajita meat was seasoned just right as I could tell when they brought it out sizzling. The only downside to dining here was the portions (2 enchiladas on the plate, not 3). On the smaller scale compared to other Tex Mex restaurants and because we wanted more! Would definitely come here again if we find ourselves in the area. The food was good and worth a review. This restaurant has been around for about 6 years but it was a first time for us. The decor is really nice and it's a little cozy place. Our waiter was new to his job but the owner Becky was with him and they provided us with great personal service. We will definitely return. We started with drinks (House Margaritas , skinny margaritas and black diamond). They were a little on the sweet side but next time we will tell them to go easy on the syrup/agave. We ordered Queso Fumeado for appetizer which had generous amount of chorizo and came with warm tortillas. Delicious! For entrees we ordered enchiladas potosinas, enmoladas, chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and chile rellenos. All were really tasty and the mole sauce was exceptional. Loved it!! Stopped here for lunch and the place was almost totally full as they had a large group having a luncheon event in the middle of the restaurant. So we typically have a couple spots we enjoy but we went out later than usual on a Sunday. So I looked up Mexican food that closes later on Sundays. This popped up and WHAT A GEM IT WAS! I cannot believe that they've been around since precovid and we haven't tried them. This place is dangerously GOOD! My husband and I enjoy the more local/authentic vibe so if the Americanized version is your thing probably not the place to go. The staff, Rich was our server, was amazing - friendly, knowledgeable, and told us about the owner and place. The food has won awards for best fajitas and best restaurant and we now know why! Why 5 stars? Because this was one of the better Tex-Mex restaurants I've tried. --- --- --- I say this everything: I don't understand how 400 Tex-Mex per square mile can all thrive here, but this is reality. After one visit to MCM, I think it's definitely in the top 10%. I've probably written a review similar to this one several times in the last few months, which would kind of ruin my point about Mandi being in the top 10%, but I'm general a pretty positive person when it comes to local businesses. I'm not hard to please, and if I enjoyed the food, I see no reason to say that it's not great. And on that note, Mandi was great. As mentioned above, there are approximately 762 Tex-Mex restaurants closer to me than Mandi, so I don't think I'd be back often, but it's good to know that this is here. And I recommended it to my Aunt and Uncle who live much closer. As for what I ordered, I went with what I seemingly order at all of these spots: chips & queso, steak fajitas with rice and refried beans. The food came insanely fast. I do not think five full minutes passed from the time we put it in order until it was on our table. And the first thing I noticed was that the flavor of the meat and the tortillas hit perfectly in line with what I was hoping for.
