I live and work in Corning. I eat here a couple times a month. The server is always friendly and we get our food quickly. The food is affordable, the lunch specials can't be beat. On to the food... Food is great. Business is locally owned. Nice staff, good prices. We try to order something new often and so far haven't been disappointed. Their lunch specials are great and quick. They serve beer and wine, as their liquor license allows. So their "margarita" is not made with tequila, but wine. I'd skip it. I walked in and there were two other tables seated one already eating so I thought it wasn't going to be to long of a wait. I was wrong. After I ordered it took over an hour for the food to arrive. My company order a shrimp dish in a mole sauce. The "mole" sauce tasted like it was in a spaghetti o sauce and the tortillas were dry yet chewey. Stopped here on the way home from Oregon. Thought we'd found a diamond in the rough based upon the Yelp reviews and the quaint decor. However, once the food arrived, we were very disappointed. My daughter just had a cheese quesadilla and it was almost unedible...way too much oily cheese. She tried to extract some of the cheese and sop up the excess oil, but the tortilla was ruined. Her friend had the "carne asada fries" appetizer. This was a huge plate of frozen french fries covered with some meat and green sauce. The sauce made the fries soggy and it turned into a big green pile with meat chunks. Not very appetizing! I had the chicken enchiladas with red sauce. The sauce tasted more like sweet barbeque sauce and there was way too much sauce. The chicken was chunks of the dark meat from the legs/thighs. No breast meat. The rice was to mushy and the beans were too runny. So, two "appetizers" (which were huge) and two enchiladas and a beer cost $38! I thought it would be cheap being that Corning is such a small town and Mexican food is usually very reasonably priced. On the plus side, the people were very nice and the place was clean. read more

The chile relleno was undercooked and the sauce was quite bland. It took 3 requests to get water. The only beans available were pinto beans. The margaritas clearly were from a sugary syrup pre mix, although inexpensive. One of our party had the pork verde, also bland. I think we will find another choice the next time we are in Corning. In fairness to the wait staff, they had only two servers working the entire room. read more

Stopped by on way back to SF Bay area from Oregon. Didn't want fast food and found this place a few blocks(short ones) away down the main street. What a find indeed! Great fresh salsa with a little kick to it, down side is an extra $1.25 for second round of chips and salsa(so what it is just a buck or so). Wife had the Fish Taco's which were cooked as you'd hope done right and still juicy not dry! Sauce was a citrus type of tarter, which hit the spot. I had Chiles A La Crema- ok had not much of an idea what to expect sa it sounded good and different. Great stuff. Chiles Rellanos in a sour cream sauce? Yep different but came off good ..plate was cleared. Could have used a bit of heat but hey still was darn good. Will certainly make this place a stop on they trips up north again. Got in at 2pm or so, on Monday Presidents Day. While eating saw nearly 8 people come by for food to go-locals. If the locals eat here ..well you should too. read more

Went here for dinner on a Thursday. Only one other couple in the restaurant, but we we craving Mexican so we gave it a chance. We were greeted warmly, sat down and ordered. I had a chimichanga and a side chile relleno, while my wife had a chili relleno/enchilada dinner. Neither of us thought very much of the food, but at least she ate hers, and I ate the chimichanga, but the chili relleno was an inedible runny mess. I complained to the waitress and at the end, she did take it off the bill. So 2 stars for service and standing behind their food, doing right by the customer, but I wouldn't return for the food. read more
