The server was very pleasant and attentive, but the food was awful. I ordered the shrimp ceviche tostadas, and it tasted like they used pre-cooked frozen shrimp. The shrimp was rubbery, it was barely thawed, and it had absolutely zero flavor. I dumped a lot of the sauce from the chips and salsa on top of it and that helped a bit with the taste but not the texture. At nine dollars apiece I would expect much better quality. This place is amazing, don't let anyone tell you different. Living in California we eat alot of Mexican food which makes me not picky but rather critical of the flavors, salsa, and fresh taste in veggies. This place hits all the marks. Amazing fresh salsa, the red sauce on the wet burrito was exceptional. My wife's green spauce on her enchiladas were also bomb. Burrito was full on small child sized. And I can't forget the chips, made fresh daily and have a flavor that is addictive. Much like Casa Sanchez before they fell off. We went up for a weekend at Almanor, stopped on the way up and had to hit it on the way back. Service was quick, we ordered from the waitress to go the first time. I hate leaving bad reviews , but this restaurant is just ...BAD. .. To begin with My bill was 48$ for a order of 4 flauta's and Agua chiles . The flauta's tastes as if they were frozen taquitos from a grocery store (even those have more flavor) . The chicken in the flautas had NO flavor. Sadly the Agua chiles were not marinated enough because my order did not even have lemon in it , i couldn't even taste it. Genuinely one of the best mexican restaurants in Chico, and I would give them a 5 star rating! Their food is some of the best and most authentic I have had in years. My problem is the customer service at the front. They leave their phones off the hook when they don't feel like taking orders or if they get slightly busy, or even when its an hour till close. They turn off their doordash availability, hell they've even disabled the store entirely so you can't place orders online. Theres a couple staff that work the front and have decent service, but one of them has been known to pick up the phone, put someone on hold, and then hang up on them, or unhook the phone. It just seems like a lot of mental gymnastics to go through rather than simply taking an order...? Mariscos La Costa - please do a better job at staffing your resturaunt and investing in better customer service, if you are sitting down 6 months from now and realizing the business is not successful its not because of the food, it's because of the hours of operation, the staff intaking customers, and the avenues of placing orders. I want to see this business stick around for a long time, I just think in order to do that, it needs to adapt. read more

My new favorite restaurant! This place is delicious and has generous portions. The quality of the food is excellent and very fresh. If you love spicy, try the macha salsa (chipotle based and very spicy). The chips come out warm, my fave! I especially loved the chicken taco and green chicken enchilada. The owner is very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. There is an outdoor patio and a big dining room with several booths. There is a large booth that would be great for a big party. We will definitely be back very soon! Also, if you're like me and don't like seafood, don't let the name deter you. Absolutely loved everything. Victoria was very attentive and kind. She has a great energy about her and is very friendly. You can tell they put a lot of care into everything they do. We also had the green enchilada and chicken taco with rice and beans. So so so good. Loved the flavor of the beans. Quality food and large servings. Bring your appetite. It can be overwhelming if you're not a native Spanish speaker or used to this qty of menu items. Luckily, we knew our way around the menu and asked lots of questions. Everything was delicious. Crab is so expensive these days, so expect imitation crab. Everything else was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. It came out hot, and we took so much of this home that we were able to stretch it for 2 extra days! The pricing is a bit high, but forbthe quantity that you receive, I think it's worth it. You can go to a fast food restaurant and pay similar prices. These days with inflation on the rise, I'd rather go out and eat. Glad we stopped by. An added plus: The serving staff are very attentive. The chicken tacos are amazing as the meat is marinated then grilled. The green chicken enchiladas have tender chicken and a flavorful homemade sauce. The beans are delicious and servings generous. The restaurant has large comfortable booths as well as outdoor patio dining options. Victoria (owner) is quick to greet everyone. I asked Victoria about spicy salsa and she brought Salsa Macha, a yummy, spicy, smoky, bold salsa. It pairs beautifully with the fresh warm tortilla chips. The iced-tea is fresh brewed and quite good. I've been to Marisco's several times with friends and family. Every time the food is a hit with excellent, friendly service.
