This is a hidden gem! This restaurant was 10 minutes from our hotel nearby the Tucson airport. I loved the murals on the outside of the building. The menu states this is a family owned and operated restaurant that locally sources their food. The service was fast here and the waitress gave me her opinions on the menu options I was considering. I came here for the vegetarian and vegan plant based options and boy was I excited. They have a whole huge menu that is vegetarian vegan plant based with so many options. I got the elote street ribs, jackfruit quesa birria and the prickly pear margarita. The elote street ribs were missing the white cheese that is typically included but were still good. The jackfruit quesa birria were very delicious and seasoned well but messy all over my hands. I had to wash my hands after eating it but it was worth it. This restaurant hit the spot for the tacos I was craving. I appreciate how 4 different salsas were provided to complement our meals. The portions were just enough to satisfy us but not make us feel extremely full where we don't want to do anything else afterwards. We had flan for dessert. We both always love Mexican food but I don't eat meat, so I was trying to find a place that would satisfy us both. They have both a meat menu and a plant based menu so there really is something for everyone! I tried the jackfruit quesabirria and it was amazing! My husband had the Sonoran dog and two carne asada tacos. Everything was delicious. We started off with the chips and salsa which were also good but all but one of the salsas were too hot for us. First time here at the suggestion of my boyfriend and definitely a good choice! We've driven by it be before and definitely noticed the beautiful murals on the outside. We we went at night and their nice parking lot was well lit. We had quick and friendly service on the nice patio. I devoured my carne asada nachos (pictured) and my partner throughly enjoyed his tacos (which i don't seem to have a pic of ). Our hefty shots were only $5 and delicious! Looked for a place to eat near our hotel. Specifically Mexican and yelp listed La Esquina. The facility was clean and the staff very friendly. We wanted a regular frozen margarita and even though it wasn't on drink list he made them for us. Very good. The tacos came out fast. Traditional without a lot of veggies and other things. Bad customer service I personally come to Tucson for business every month for two to four weeks. I was 30 minutes before closing the receptionist told me to go only. I eat at this place atleast once to twice a week and I also buy food for my employees average ticket is over $$$ plus tip. I do too good. I just cannot understand why these folks keep denying good paying customers and push away business especially in a slow economy. This particular night I would have spent over $150.00 dollars the last 30 minutes before closing. I guess our money isn't good here and I will never be back. Ordered birria, steak fries, elote and new pozole. Birria was flavorful and savory with a but of spiciness. Pozole was flavorful but I was only able to taste pork, not much beef flavor. I did order a beer as well, but I expected the soda. Other than that, the food was delicious and flavorful. The sauces are pretty spicy except for the guacamole based crema. The service was great and the artwork and music were enjoyable. I would come back again and get the combo plate but make sure they bring out what they promised on the menu. This was such a cute little taqueria restaurant! That screamed local, culture, and delicious!!!! The server/host/cashier (him and his family own the restaurant. ) was extremely helpful and patient. Very local and pleasant. You can tell that it is family run and authentic because we were only ones speaking English. Walked us through the menu and appreciated their expansive vegan/vegetarian menu that they had. Mexican is one of my favorite foods so it was great to have so many options that we could eat. You must get their mushroom tacos or burrito and the corn ribs. Probably the best things that I have eaten so far on this trip. Not many people there, but we were there early on a Saturday night. They changed the TV so my boyfriend could watch the game and were nice to continue to check on us. Plenty of salsa options and the hot is actually hot which is such a nice change of pace. The Jackfruit Burrito is basically a grease burrito, it's sopping wet of grease. They have an awesome salsa bar but don't provide chips to enjoy the salsa, which is a disappointment especially when you pay the price for the small amount of food you get. They have combos and even vegetarian options. I chose the pork belly taco cuz yum, it's pork belly and a queso birria taco. You don't see pork belly tacos very often so I was excited about that. They said it was absolutely fabulous so I'll have to give it a go next time. I had surf and turf tacos; pretty much Carne Asada tacos with about eight little shrimp wrapped in bacon. It was very tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. They also had a salsa bar which had a variety of guacamole salsa and green salsa, and habanero. I tasted them all and they were pretty good. Check out this little gem across the street from the Rodeo grounds! Pros: 1-Good variety of food choices the menu, including Veggie tacos! I have had the Jamaica tacos many times and they have been outstanding. The flower is great in drinks but this taco is sautéed in spices, garlic and onion. This time I had the Adobo Mushroom taco and it was a generous portion, smoky flavored and delicious. I added cabbage and Pico to give it an extra pop of flavor. 2-The Torito's (stuffed yellow chile usually wrapped in bacon) starter is by far the BEST in Tucson. The stuffing mixture is a gooey cream cheese blend that isn't overpowering to let the Chile shine. An order has 6 of them but the pic shows less because we dig into them when the hit the table before I could snap it. 3-Taco Chingon is a carne asada + roasted green chile + cheese taco. Again generous portion hit for note the tacos are served basic, on the side it has pickled red onion, cabbage, lime & cilantro/onion so it's up to you to dress them to your taste. They have a self service salsa bar, but you have to ask for Pico. 4-If you eat at the outside patio you get plates. I really appreciate this because most taco places that are authentic in the Southside you eat off of those awful styrofoam square mini plates intended for takeout. 5-The Bar/patio! Upbeat music, great drinks a must to catch up with a friend and throw a couple back. Paloma, margaritas, Michelada are all quite good and reasonable. Get there before it gets too hot 6-ample parking and easy access. You can park north and south of the building Cons: 1-Road noise can be heard from the patio but isn't that true of anywhere in Tucson? 2-More people need to come here, maybe we get here too early but the service is always really quick and courteous. With lots of awesome choices for Mexican food restaurants be sure to check this one out, it offers a chill environment that's not overpriced or overly saturated with tourists. read more

We ordered online (powered by DoorDash) for pickup. It was relatively simple. I wanted their baked potato, but it came "loaded" with a choice of meat, and I'm vegetarian. I was able to add "NO MEAT, NO BACON" in the order notes. When I picked up the order from the restaurant, I checked to make sure the order was correct (some restaurants don't read the notes sometimes), and it was! The potato with mushrooms was delicious!
