    Tacos, chips and guac

The food here is sooo good! And I appreciate that they have vegan and vegetarian options too. The only place I've ever had vegan birria tacos! Yum! Also the elote ribs and chips/guac are amazing. Will always come here when I'm in town.

This is a hidden gem! This restaurant was 10 minutes from our hotel nearby the Tucson airport. I loved the murals on the outside of the building. The menu states this is a family owned and operated restaurant that locally sources their food. The service was fast here and the waitress gave me her opinions on the menu options I was considering. I came here for the vegetarian and vegan plant based options and boy was I excited. They have a whole huge menu that is vegetarian vegan plant based with so many options. I got the elote street ribs, jackfruit quesa birria and the prickly pear margarita. The elote street ribs were missing the white cheese that is typically included but were still good. The jackfruit quesa birria were very delicious and seasoned well but messy all over my hands. I had to wash my hands after eating it but it was worth it. The prickly pear margarita was huge, nicely decorated and tasted good. I wish I had a place like this near me. I will be back the next time I am in Tucson for sure.

This was our first time ever visiting Tucson and after being on the road for a full day, we were craving some real food. We both always love Mexican food but I don't eat meat, so I was trying to find a place that would satisfy us both. They have both a meat menu and a plant based menu so there really is something for everyone! I tried the jackfruit quesabirria and it was amazing! My husband had the Sonoran dog and two carne asada tacos. Everything was delicious. We started off with the chips and salsa which were also good but all but one of the salsas were too hot for us. I love spicy food but it was a bit much for even me, so just be warned! We sat outside and overall it was just a very nice experience. I would love to come back and try some of their other food and their drinks. Highly recommend!

Looked for a place to eat near our hotel. Specifically Mexican and yelp listed La Esquina. The facility was clean and the staff very friendly. We wanted a regular frozen margarita and even though it wasn't on drink list he made them for us. Very good. The tacos came out fast. Traditional without a lot of veggies and other things. Just some chopped lettuce, onions and cucumber. Also three sauces which were excellent. I had the Birrria tacos and they were excellent. No complaints and better than expected.

First time here at the suggestion of my boyfriend and definitely a good choice! We've driven by it be before and definitely noticed the beautiful murals on the outside. We we went at night and their nice parking lot was well lit. We had quick and friendly service on the nice patio. I devoured my carne asada nachos (pictured) and my partner throughly enjoyed his tacos (which i don't seem to have a pic of ). Our hefty shots were only $5 and delicious! And it was cool to see that they have a plant based options menu and how they source their stuff locally. I will definitely be back and highly recommended this spot!

On the way to the rodeo, I stopped by to get some lunch. Ordered the two taco and carmelo plate which was supposed to be to come with a soda but did not. I did order a beer as well, but I expected the soda. Other than that, the food was delicious and flavorful. The sauces are pretty spicy except for the guacamole based crema. The service was great and the artwork and music were enjoyable. I would come back again and get the combo plate but make sure they bring out what they promised on the menu. They do have a good selection of vegan options which I'm impressed with do next time I will bring my vegan friends with me.

Good dinner place near the rodeo grounds! Had a great time here after the rodeo. The service was a little slow, but the food and nice patio was worth it! We had the carne asada fries, Al pastor taco, and Birria burrito and fries were good but the salsa was hotter than advertised.the taco was great. The pork belly appetizer was STELLAR and so were their drinks. We would return when we are close by, but not sure we'd drive too far.

This was such a cute little taqueria restaurant! That screamed local, culture, and delicious!!!! The server/host/cashier (him and his family own the restaurant. ) was extremely helpful and patient. He made recommendations and brought out samples of the aguas frescas. He made sure we had plenty of water, salsa, and everything we needed. We ordered a Sonoran hot dog, Quesa Birria tacos, and a taco chingon. They were so amazing and addicting!!! We had to go back for more.... Arizona really has the best Mexican food!! Everything was so flavorful. And such good quality. I learned they use a local bakery and a local meat shop to supply their hot dog buns (so soft and sooo good), tortillas, and meats. And it shows! The taste is out of this world. Yummmmm, you can't go wrong with Taqueria la Esquina!! I only wished I would have tried one of everything on their menu!

    - solid birria tacos - solid Sonoran hotdog - tasty hot sauces (one is scorching hot) - nice patio area - lots of vegetarian options Reasonable prices, friendly service

I have heard about this place for years because of their vegan options and finally went to eat there. I was not disappointed one bit. Their vegan options are not your typical ones. The guacamole was so good! It looked like the typical guacamole, but it was so good I asked if there was something special in it. Nope, just made fresh made it delicious. I got the vegan elote ribs. Yes elote ribs! So good. The corn was cooked perfectly. I had the jackfruit and mushroom tacos. Both were good and I'm looking forward to trying the other options. Their staff is super nice as well.

Locally owned taqueria in the corner of Irvington and South 6th Avenue with nice murals. Seat yourself and order some really good tacos and get out of the summer heat. They have combos and even vegetarian options. I chose the pork belly taco cuz yum, it's pork belly and a queso birria taco. You don't see pork belly tacos very often so I was excited about that. The queso birria taco was small, but very flavorful and the broth was good. They offer you an assortment of sauces too. They do have beer and agua frescas. The service was good and pretty quick. I was surprised they weren't busier at 5:30pm on a Saturday. Check out this family owned restaurant!

Ask the Community - Taqueria La Esquina

I saw that you have flautas on the menu - what is the filling?

Does this place have a dog friendly patio?

They have a covered outside sitting area. I have never seen a dog there though. I would call and ask it is not a real big walking area most folks drive so I doubt they allow them but hopefully I am wrong.

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.

There was plenty of seating, a dedicated bar, TVs, and nice lighting. The patio has misters, which is perfect for this time of year. They offer booth and table seating, and the tables aren't packed too close together. With party members who have different mobility challenges, the spacing was great and made everything comfortable. The food was delicious. The complimentary bottomless chips and salsa were fresh and generous. If you order the horchata, it comes with free refills too, which is such a nice touch.
