It's really quite amazing and highly underrated and or just not known about so much right now. There are so many different interactive activities for the kids to play with from building, color, changing, weird mirrors, and even some outdoor adventures. Far too much to list and it's way better to experience in person. There's a charge for entry daily, they also have camps and classes, and you can rent out the space for events. There's still more for me to figure out and find out with this place, but will be back for more for sure.

I take my daughter there for the Sunny Studio art classes and we get to enjoy the Second Sky community space afterwards. The space is quite large as is still in the process of being developed with the help of volunteers and community donations. As of now, the space it like a large warehouse....that is air conditioned! There are tables to sit and hag out, a concessions/snack stand and various interactive indoor activities, such as scooters, a cozy corner that is like a little library with books and couches, digital art and S.T.E.A.M. interactive exhibits. Outside they have the adventure playground that is really incredible! It's also a non-profit with the goal to create a space that serves the whole community. Their big picture, long-term plan is amazing. I've copied/pasted this following information from their digital booklet: "A shaded outdoor adventure playground for hands-on S.T.E.A.M. learning across multiple ages. A cafe with coffee, pastries, fast casual lunch and dinner, beer, wine and healthy soft drinks. A digital art venue. An event space with regular programming. Empire Ranch (located within Las Cienegas Conservation Area) is a direct look into early life of a…read morerancher in Arizona. The buildings with the displays from the early era are informative and interesting. You can almost feel what it was like to live on the Ranch. The area is beautiful with trails and wildlife to view especially birders.

It is a state park, about $10 for a day visit. It is about 45 minutes or so south of Tucson, but…read moremostly freeway until you get off on the road that leads to the entrance. There are plenty of trails for all skill levels, and some are partially paved, concrete walkways, etc. Plenty of signage and you can check all trails for skill level, elevation gain, etc. Plenty of lots so plenty of parking, and there are some nice covered picnic areas as well. Great views of the area, surrounding mountains, etc. We saw at least 8 deer all huddled by each other, birds, small animals, etc. Check out my pics for some of the highlights.

Since it is at a higher elevation, you have increased biodiversity of plants and animals and the temperature can be a good10-15 degree difference from the desert floor. I got to see some amazing birds there... and it's a known birding paradise!! There is a privately run lodge, B&B, and camping options plus a nearby lodge run by US Forest Service if you want a getaway. There hasn't been much rain and so the creek beds were dry... but I hear when there is water .. it's a whole other ecosystem with a mini waterfalls included. The picnic spaces are through out the park and several accessible by wheelchair. The park is excellently maintained with good signage (thanks to the world of many dedicated federal employees of Interior/ forest services who have cared in protecting and maintaining the land for us to enjoy). Looking forward to exploring this area even more!

This place was listed among Tucson's unique attractions, and it was a relatively short drive so we…read moreadded it to our itinerary. The site is less than 15 minutes south of downtown via a couple of interstates. Once you exit it is probably only a mile or so. The mission complex is located on a tribal reservation. You turn off the paved road to a large field of dirt and gravel in front of the mission. The center part of this is given over to semi-shaded stalls for vendors - food like fry bread, etc. Parking is along the sides. When we visited, the facade was partly covered with construction scaffolding, but this was wrapped with tarps that reflected the building beneath it. So you could still get a good idea of how it would look uncovered. Inside, there is the main church on the left (as you face it). This is actively used, so be quiet / respectful. Passing through there (or entering separately on the right) there are several smaller connected rooms that have displays about the history of the building and the local area. In back is a courtyard with a fountain. I'm not sure the public has access to this, but you can view it from a shaded arcade. If you like historic buildings or old missions in particular, this is an easy stop within the Tucson area. And the fry bread we got as we left the parking lot was good too!

I identified myself by my citizenship name when I spoke to a very cool and interesting border…read morepatrol agent called Michael last week, just in case he sees this and gets confused. Michael helped me find out which mile marker is at the checkpoint, heading out of Nogales towards Tucson on I-19, after an absent minded driver rear ended my car, while I was at the Border Patrol Checkpoint station. I had to file an accident report and Michael helped me. He was extremely kind and helpful and found the information for me. I thought it would be nice if his boss reads this, because he is the kind of border agent who gives agents a very good name. There are some surly people out there ... not very many and I know these people have their patience tested incessantly - I could never do that job myself and I am always glad we have tough guys and tough women who are willing to cope with what it means coping with - but it's always good to speak to the ones who are lovely people who simply know how to be friendly and human. Michael came from Las Vegas for the job - I don't know how to identify him other than saying that - so if anyone knows which Michael it was, please tell his boss I wrote this review or show it to his boss because Michael has a lovely attitude and a very nice manner and deserves his boss to know he does a great job of helping people.

Honestly it's not like we can shop emergency service can we-- so is a review really appropriate, I…read moreask? I just want to applaud these firefighters and paramedics. They are extremely polite and authentic in their concern. My step mom suffers from congenital heart failure and when she seemed weaker and weaker, I called 911. The team came promptly and were very kind to her and helpful in checking her and suggesting the hospital as the next step. This means I can add GV Fire to the plus side of living in "God's Waiting Room." And from my perspective there aren't that many positives about living here, that is, for those of us who still have our wits about us. Still waiting for the housing crisis to improve!
