They touch money, the register and many other items. Then they grab the thermal bags to put hot food in it, but then they put their entire hand into the bag to open it! Interesting store with the foods they carry. At the Cocina Latina area that part of the store sold typically $8 foods like a filling California Burrito, tacos, and so on. This is a good deal considering pho noodle soup from a place elsewhere in the city, costs more than that. Good customer service too. And anyone who's familiar with me knows I'm all about a good deal, I'm basically unrelenting on that. At the other far end of the store they have a bakery section . They also have a big selection of foods they carry. Good parking spots too on the weekend we went, though it was super cold so they could've affected how few people came to shop. Overall not normally a place I would think of going to for food but a very pleasant Surprise after going here. read more

Recently I experienced horrible customer service from a cashier named Mariah A. Not only did she not welcome us to the register but she mumbled under her breath and then tried to avoid giving us our receipt and packed the food items with the cleaning supplies. Somebody needs to remind her that customer service is part of her job, and a smile goes a long way! read more

Today I am giving RSM Cocina one star. I frequent this store just about once a day as my house is near by. After doing a little grocery shopping, I grabbed an enchilada combo plate on my way out for my disabled husband. He's been buying their combo plates here for nearly 11 years. Nice and friendly service, food is ok for a quick take and go. We've seen the prices rise in the past few years and I believe you should be satisfied with your order for what you pay for it today. Got home, gave the plate to my husband and he started to eat the rice. Then he asks me why is there sour cream on his enchilada (never has there been sour cream or guacamole on their enchiladas-spread all across the enchiladas). I walk over to look at his plate and start to call RSM kitchen. I explain to the gal on the end of the line what my issue was. She put me on hole twice and came back and tells me, "sorry, the lady that made it, made a mistake. Just bring back the plate and they will remake it for me". I get there and the lady that made the plate was at the register. I hand her the plate and I tell her this is the enchilada plate I am bringing back. She starts to tell me that the plate is missing the rice and for them to remake the plate, the bad plate has to be brought back complete. Mind you, no apology was given at this time and I'm already upset over the fact that she didn't even acknowledge her mistake. So I ask for a manager. Two managers come over and the lady starts to explain to the manager that I brought this plate back with out the rice and therefore she cannot remake the plate. I jumped into tell the manager, the plate wasn't ordered for me but was ordered for my disabled husband that was hungry. The manager goes onto question me about the plate and by this point, I was very upset already. Manager says they can remake it for you and I said, NO!! I just want my money back at this point"! So the manager refunded me the $10.81 for the combo plate. Before I left the counter, I said, "I understand it was a mistake but some people just can't certain foods"!! Had I been given an apology for the inconvenience and if the lady acknowledged her mistake of NOT ASKING CUSTOMER IF SOUR CREAM OR GUACAMOLE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE MEAL (when it doesn't come with it in the first place), I may have taken the remade plate with out a fuss. read more

Today I went to their bakery. No attendee was up front and I see her sweeping in the back. I waited for at least 5 minutes when I finally said excuse me. She said I'll be right there and continued to sweep. My jaw just about dropped. Then when she finally comes up front she offers no apology or anything. Then proceeds to grab a pie for me without washing her hands. I could have gotten over the bad customer service but not washing your hands after you or sweeping is just unsanitary. I hope that's not how their business usually ran. read more

We've come here many times for buying groceries and for the meals. We ordered around 8pm, plenty of time before they were close to closing time with nobody else in that entire section. We ordered the family meal of tacos with chicken. We've ordered these tacos many times before and have been satisfied with them, but this was the worst we've ever had here. The chicken was hard and dry, like it had been sitting out for a long time. The color of the chicken and taste of it was NOT chicken, it was dark like carne asada and was complete dry. None of the food was warm. The beans were horrible and were also cold. The rice was lumped together and was also cold. The tacos weren't warm either, so we ordered food that was cold and horrible. The only good part of our meal were the tortillas and cilantro onions. The staff was extremely rude, considering we were the only ones who were eating there. The staff was not present, didn't greet us for several minutes while they were cleaning the back. Nobody was at the front section, so it would have been easy for anyone to walk behind the counter and steal products. The tables were disgusting, we had to clean off our table twice just to get most of the stuff off of it. We told staff that somebody had spilt their soda drink on the ground, and they responded that they thought that had already been taken care of, then that person didn't clean it up. Some male employee came around, ten minutes later, cleaned it up, and was rude to the other employee that was asking a question. Review is for the prepared food, not the grocery side, which was massive. I was in Merced for nearly 2 weeks on business and came here regularly because of the proximity to the hotels I stayed at. I really enjoyed everything I ate. While the breakfast burritos and tortas were the best deal I found for a place with seating, my favorite was the chilaquiles. The tortillas are made in store, right next to the taqueria. They're also a great deal as are the fresh chips. Across from the taqueria is a deli with salads, salsas and various ceviche. I got half a pound of the fish ceviche and loved it. I wish they had it at the taqueria for tostadas. My coworker got breakfast at the bakery a few times and loved it. read more

Rancho San Miguel in Merced, Ca is a great grocery store. We stumbled into this store by accident. Far from home on vacation with plans to go see Yosemite National Park. This is the Costco of hispanic foods. No membership is required at this huge sort of warehouse type of store. There is a bakery and food court inside as part of the store. This store has hispanic foods and ingredients that I have never even heard of. Plus, it has all the items that you would find in a normal grocery store. Ambience: Nice place but located in sort of a rundown area of town. Inside is clean and huge and nice. Prices "read 'em and weep": OMG!!!! Boy are we getting the shaft here in Hawaii. Horrible customer service. Was just there. Only purchasing some detergent. 2 lanes open. Lines backed up. The customer in front of me has a decent amount of items. No big deal. She starts getting rung up. All the sudden a new checker opens up in the lane next to me. I grab the detergent and move over there. Mumbling, the girl checker tells me "no, i wasnt going to help you" or somethin to that effect. Confused i ask isnt it ok since i was the next person in line? "Well....i wasnt going to help you but....ugh...well....nevermind....whatever" still kinda shocked i just grab the detergent and say "no....nevermind. dont wanna bother you. Do whatever it is you're gonna do" and go back to the line i was in. Doubt the managers will read this or care. Miras! Yes, this grocery store looks south of the boarder. I really like going to this grocery shop, no matter how offensive colors are inside and out. They've got a cool machine where they make their own tortilla chips. It's quite interesting, if you have a few minutes to kill, to sit and watch them make the tortilla chips. They've got a great food court here... well, a good one. Just don't try the asian food. It looks pretty disgusting. The mexican food was pretty good. My wife really really liked the Torta. She wants to go back here asap to get some more torta. They had an awesome sale on jalapenos for 2 lbs for 1 dollar. We loaded up! They've also got a vehicle to drive folks home who cannot drive to the grocery store. I think it's great! Such a community oriented grocery store. I'll be back for more food court and jalapenos. This place is similar to SoCA's Food-4-Less markets with the addition of a food court. I was recommended to try the Mexican food counter - so I will rate that ONLY. I came here for a lunch break; the wait to place my order was extraordinary as now many restaurants, delis and the like accept EBT cards - and this deli was no exception. However, for whatever reason, the EBT functionality on the card readers at the deli were not working - causing all kinds of havoc! I ordered one of the combination plates - two tacos - carnitas & barbacoa; the food was "ok" at best. Growing up in San Diego has ruined my taste buds for ANY Mexican food made elsewhere - and here was no exception. The "hot" salsa here was "mild", the jalapenos tasted pickled (more like peppercini's), the beans were bland and the rice - TOO MUCH DAMN SALT AND KNORR CHICKEN BROTH...maybe the cook was having a bad day, but I was not impressed. That day, I didn't even bother with the Chinese food section - that food looked like it had been sitting under heat lamps for a week - colorless veggies, sauces that have coagulated...ummm, no, not eating that. I also watched the guy running the tortilla machine pick at least 5 tortillas off the floor that had fallen off of the conveyor belt (prior to and after cooking) and simply place them back on the conveyor belt...I understand that is probably done more often than not in food service, but must we see it? If you're starving and can't think of anywhere else to eat - you can probably eat here, but it is NO GOURMET EXPERIENCE and you'll probably suffer some form of eater's remorse later! read more

Rancho San Miguel Market is a Food-4-Less owned store with Panadera,Produce, Carniceria, Food Court, and Tortilleria. I like Rancho San Miguel Markets but not this particular location. It was very busy and at the food court they kept on messing up my order and when I gave them my credit card the said it was not valid. So. I had to use cash to purchase my order of "carne asada" with beans and rice which tasted grizzly and not fresh as if it was sitting there for weeks. I don't trust the cleanliness of the meat counter because I kept on smelling something weird and I only smelled it when I got close to the meat counter. I have never experienced any of those problems when I go to the Rancho San Miguel in madera so I would just go there because I live closer to madera and it's a better location and that I haven't experienced any problems there. read more

When Savemart & Raley's failed at providing us what we needed..we'd drive to this giant place! LOVED IT!! It's colorful inside and out..lots of food! We always get their marinated chicken at teh deli section because it tastes so good!! They do a great job with their marinated meats! I also like how there's a huge food court and you can eat while you shop or eat after your shop! The food is much cheaper here..especially the vegetables! I also like their bakery with all the yummy mexican pastries..yummy Whenever we have a BBQ, we always hit up RSM market..this place rocks! I bought a taco salad recently at the Merced location. The tostada shell had to be seating on old grease to have absorbed that much oil. Horrible taste and crumbly, the meat was dried on old, too hard to chew. the bad part is that I was the only customer so it's not like they were overwhelmed with orders. Nasty food.
