One of my budgies Figment, @figandmim_thebudgies got his little leg caught in some fabric early this morning. After calling 10+ veterinary hospitals I was able to reach @ranchosequoia to confirm they offer budgie/parakeet care and could squeeze him in this morning. They are an appointment only facility, so I greatly appreciate the made a visit work asap. Anna at the front desk was kind and patient with us (as I was panicked), the vet tech staff too. Dr. Kang was amazing with handling and got him all fixed up quickly. The price was very reasonable, which was a relief. BEWARE. Extremely disappointing experience. We were charged $85 for absolutely nothing--no real service, no help, no explanation. It felt like the moment we walked in, it was all about money, not the animals or the customers. I went with my boyfriend for his dog's appointment and honestly I have mixed feelings. Dr. Kang seems knowledgeable enough and they do give you an estimate before doing anything, so I don't really get the reviews saying people were "scammed" when you literally have to approve the charges first. They are more on the expensive side though. But what really bothered me was how he treated his staff. The clinic seemed understaffed and there were only two girls there trying to handle everything, and through the exam room door we could hear him yelling at one of them to "get it together." That was really uncomfortable to hear, especially when they already looked overwhelmed and were clearly trying their best. It just made the whole place feel tense and awkward, and honestly seeing a doctor talk to his employees like that would make me not want to go back. read more

I've brought my dog and cat to Dr Kang for over 5 years, and we've had EXCELLENT service. He treated my cat when she injested weed killer, and years later, has managed her IBS. My dog was spayed, treated for minor problems, and now Dr Kang is determining whether she has osteosarcoma (potentially such a scary diagnosis) but Dr Kang has been explaining everything, pointing out to me the details on the Xray, and now did the bone biopsy. Some of these negative reviewers complain of overcharging, but I don't see that at all. In fact, Dr Kang spent time on his computer to figure out the most cost effective blood tests to rule out valley fever or another fungus at my request. In summary, Dr Kang is an expert in his field, has compassion, and takes time to talk to the client, and his staff has always been kind and efficient. read more

What upsets me when I took Pollen to VSEC and they look at me dumbfounded on why your doctor didn't give her any else other than fluids! When she obviously was not doing well or if it was outside his medical knowledge guided me to a specialist! I would have taken her there right after her appointment. But it felt like he very quickly went back and made another estimate on the next round of guessing what it could be! I felt like the moment I said I'll take her to her normal doctor he very quickly wash his hands and said I've giving her the fluids and we will call you on blood work! Even After mentioning she had also vomited in the back during the injections! It didn't raise a concern, in your medical opinion when she's vomiting vile in your presence wouldn't that be like sir we need to keep her run IV get further onsite test? Regardless I can't bring her back the only thing I regret is taking her there to your clinic! But I can't change that and I lost my little girl I am upset I am heartbroken and it kills me to know if I had taken her elsewhere they would of done more than just shoot her up with fluids. After a day and a half, they chose not to reach out to discuss my concern, so I am moving forward with posting this. It saddens me to reach the point that I need to do this as until this point, I have enjoyed my interactions with Dr. Kang and the staff. I am deeply frustrated with the recent experience I've had with Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital and feel compelled to share them to help other pet owners make informed decisions. 1. Excessive Prescription Markups - I was shocked to discover that a necessary medication for my dog was being sold by Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital at 2.5 times the cost available through reputable retailers like Chewy.com and Costco ($54.99 vs $135.08). This kind of markup on a lifelong medication feels incredibly unethical. 2. Unreasonable Withholding of Written Prescriptions - I was denied a written prescription for my dog just three weeks after a check-up appointment. I was told I'd need to bring the dog in again for a check-up--clearly a way to charge for another visit unnecessarily. 3. Inconsistent and Contradictory Practices - For another dog, I was again refused a written prescription under the same pretense, even though they had just provided a written script for the exact same medication the month prior. I originally submitted that prescription to Costco, but due to ongoing supply issues that Costco was experiencing, I simply wanted to transfer it to Chewy.com. Still, they refused unless I also bring this dog in for a check-up, despite already having prescribed the medication, and willfully filling the prescription for me in-office (this one at a 2 times markup - $24.99 vs $48.90)! 4. Lack of Communication and Empathy - The vet has not taken the time to directly address my concerns or explain the reasoning behind these questionable practices. It feels as though the priority is no longer the health and well-being of my pets, but rather squeezing more money out of loyal clients. Sadly, after a couple of short years of trusting this clinic, I can no longer recommend Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital. Pet care should be driven by compassion and ethics--not profit. I had originally moved over to this clinic ever since it became so difficult to get appointments at our previous veterinary clinic for our dogs due to their growing popularity. I have been disappointed by this place in the past, but I gave them another chance and took my daughter's dog for a check when I noticed a bump around the dog's chest. They took him in to supposedly get a sample for analysis and charged me $444.00 for the visit. I specifically advised them to call me when the results came back. However, they never called me and contacted my daughter instead who is away in school (this was also the case the last time I specifically asked them to do the same). This truly disappointed me, plus the fact that they are not very transparent with the procedures they perform inside. So, I will not be taking my daughter's dog here again in the future. We have been seeing Dr Kang for our 3 dogs for over 12 years. He is a straight-forward, humble and compassionate doctor and genuinely feels for these animals. Don't read into the low star ratings and rather look at the 5 star ones. Notice how the 5 stars have been with him for years rather than the one-time visitors either expecting miracles or expecting to pay peanuts for medical services. If you see Dr Kang regularly you'll know he's the real deal. He has kept them healthy for years and is up to date and making sure they have their shots and their teeth are clean. Being a vet is a stressful one possibly even more so than human doctors when you take into account the amount of times they need to put down an animal as a last resort or people attempt to bully them into putting down an animal when there are methods to heal. They have feelings and emotions and they love animals, which is why they chose this profession. And then they required to end a family pet's life in front of them during one of the more painful times in their lives. Try that on regular basis and see how that effects you. We recently had to put our boy down due to cancer ravaging his body. He suggested a ultrasound to see what was doing. I believe it gave us and Dr Kang solace that after seeing the result, there was nothing more we can do, and that we and Dr Kang at least knew we were doing the right thing. He knew him since he was a little boy full of life and having to end it while being the humane thing to do, is still heart-breaking. Something you never get used to I'm sure and while pet owner's rarely go through this, he does it on a regular basis. He did the act with kindness, humility, and compassion. We recommend him highly, and with sites that allow people to rate one star without blinking, they certainly haven't dealt with the office on a regular basis. read more

Our dog was bleeding from her anus, with terrible diarrhea. We came here very worried about what could be wrong with her. We were highly concerned that the severity may mean "the worst". Here's why I gave 1 star - 1. I was evaluating the testing options and pricing (astronomical), and they kept rushing me. I thought the rush was rude yet understandable since it was late in the day, but the bedside manner about it wasn't good. Esp considering that a negative stool test could mean the issue of something worse like cancer, she was rude to rush me in the way she did during such a difficult time. 2. I came back to drop off the stool sample. I had a clarifying yes/no question for the vet and the receptionist said he was "too busy" to be asked. My question would determine whether I would bring in my other dogs to this dr ($75 visits each) - yet her suggestion was to set an appt so I could ask this question?? Literally it made no sense. She then said she would ask my question to the doctor and never followed up with me. Seems like she wanted to just get rid of me rather than caring for or helping my dogs. 3. This is the worst part - when the results came back from the sample, all I got was a text saying it was negative with no parasites. I had come here bc my dog might be DYING, and was PROJECTILE BLEEDING from her anus... and that's all they say? No asking about the dog's condition? Not checking in about a follow up? Just awful. Unbelievable lack of attentiveness for a vet office. They obviously don't care at all about people's dogs, or show any sign of compassion or concern... just want to get customers in and out and spending as much as possible. Don't go here. My daughter's dog was limping-new to the area she did not know where to take her. She found this clinic and yay-they were accepting new clients. Sarah said her vet today was Dr Lucas, who was was very patient and kind to her dog, and answered all Sarah's questions. Dr lucas even went down onto the floor to try and calm her dog and took time to sooth her. The pricing wasn't too extreme, other than the rx which was pretty pricey (Carpo chewable usually runs about $.45 per pill and they charged $2.60 per pill, so for 10 pills it was $26 instead of $5). So I would recommend getting your prescription elsewhere (chewy sell them for .42 each with next day delivery). It seems they upcharge for the office visit @ $85 but then gave a new patient $20 discount which made it the regular price. x rays 2 views @ $224 seems reasonable Clean office, easy parking. read more

Zeus had bladder crystals when he was a baby, and Dr. Kang provided excellent care for this serious issue. The exceptional care has continued through Zeus's entire life through inflammatory bowel disease, food aversion, pancreatitis, and more! He's a diva. Zeus was just diagnosed by Dr. Kang with hyperthyroidism. Dr. Kang called me personally to go over his labs and explain what he felt was the best treatment course. I'm only giving it 2 stars is because Dr khang was a great vet and great with my dog. Ill start off by saying we adopted a puppy from LA county and I told them that on the phone and they still told me I would get a free visit from the vet. So they were advised she came from Augora hills and they still said they would validate the voucher. WELL , as soon as I finished the paperwork and she asked for the voucher , she said we cannot validate it and I told her I was told in the phone you can, so she went to verify and the vet apparently told her the same thing. She said it would be $80 for the initial check up plus vaccines... I was not happy but I decided to get my dog checked just to make sure she was healthy... so we went in there saw the vet tech first told her the same thing..she said I'm sorry we're not contracted with them and they are telling people false information.. I don't believe it because the voucher does not specify where and where we cannot take her and they told us at the shelter we should be able to take her anywhere.. so then the vet comes checks her out says she's good but will need vaccines, ok let's see the estimate.. it would be about $200 dollars.. so it went from $80 to $200?!!! I wouldn't have an issues paying for the vaccines if they validated the voucher like they said they would in the first place...so the vist went great the vet was great it was just the miscommunication and deception that threw me off and it's just so they can get more money out of people.. NO THANKS ! I'll go to a decent vet from now on. A controlled substance of the amount that was given to me for a dog can be refilled without another visit within 6 months, a year for non controlled. The meds that were waiting for me while my dog did get better were a non controlled. My dog got better, no reason to give her extra medication or get it early and have the meds expire. If you are ok with giving an animal meds when not needed seems to be another red flag. If seeing her again in such a short time was so important those meds should never have been waiting for me according to what you are saying. Just to clear it up. Communication issues. When I made an appt specifically to have dog nail trim advising my dog gets very upset and we need to be in the room. I was told yes they could do that. I send my husband and what happened? Of course they did not listen to him and took the dog to back room. We hear yelps and was told she pooped everywhere. All this could have been prevented. I was told for safety for both client and pet could not be done with owner. So it's that hard to take a nail trimmer and do in exam room? Why was that not communicated at time of appointment. They said they need to sedate. So they rather sedate the dog vs going to exam room with owner? For shame. read more

First time I visited yesterday to Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital with my 5 years old golden retriever. He is suffering from pneumonia-like symptoms last 3 months and on the broad spectrum antibiotics since then without any improvements. Other Vets were getting a lot of money from our pocket for the name of mysterious illness in canine. Yesterday, Dr. Kang performed X-ray and discussed the results with me. However, I did not like the results and I cried there. If my previous vet/vets were able to diagnose that disease earlier then my pet did not suffer for that long. Dr. Kang send us to the specialist for the next steps. I want to thankful to Dr. Kang for being very honest and kind. Pets are our life and they can not speak. I suffer with my pet for so long and I don't want anyone else go through the same way the I went. I like Dr. Kang direction and most likely my pet will get the right treatment. I really don't know where to begin with this review. It has taken me months to write it because I've been so upset and wanted to cool down before writing a heated review. We brought our dog Milo in to dr kang after he jumped off our bed and wasn't putting any weight on his leg anymore. Dr kang was actually really nice in the beginning, took some X-rays and determined Milo had torn a ligament in his knee. He had an additional fungal culture taken of his ear as there was some hair loss there. The fees for this alone were about $500 dollars but we willingly paid because we love our dog so much. He had the surgery done pretty soon after his diagnosis and was pretty wrapped up when we got him afterwards. He had Milo wear the bandage for a week before we were to bring him back to have it removed. After that we were told to return in an additional week to have the stitches removed and a visit with the doctor to check on the healing and be given home exercises to do with him to strengthen his leg back up. We paid ahead of the surgery which was close to 5k and we're under the assumption that this would be the only other payment we would have to make for the surgery and follow up visits. When I picked Milo up from his bandage removal, his wound did not look right to me. We did not get to meet with the doctor at this visit at all and was told to make the appointment for a week out to meet with him for the physical therapy instruction and stitch removal. My husband, who is a nurse, looked at milos wound when I took him home and was very concerned at how the stitching looked. As you can tell from the photos, the skin is not approximated, pretty open and was ruffled in appearance. We were scared for possible infection with how open the wound looked. Our dog licked it one time which worried us even more.Since we did not get to see the doctor at all when the bandage was removed we tried calling that same day a few hours later asking if we could come in to be seen because the wound did not look right. They did not answer the phone at all so my husband took Milo in to the office and asked if the doctor could take a quick look at it. The staff seemed extremely annoyed that he was there and made him wait for a long time to be seen. When he finally was brought back the doctor was extremely rude to my husband. He belittled him and said he didn't know what he was talking about, saying just to trust him that the wound would heal okay and that "it's just skin" so it doesn't matter what it looks like. My husband was simply wondering if there could be anything done to close the wound more and was genuinely thinking the doctor would have thought the same. The doctor said it would be too much to restitch the wound as he would need to go under anesthesia again that we would have to pay for (??!!) so we decided to wait the week and see if the wound would flatten out. HERES WHERE I LOST MY MIND. At the week stitch removal I showed up with Milo fully expecting the doctor to examine the wound, remove the stitches, and give us that exercises to do AS PROMISES AND SCHEDULED FOR. When I showed up the vet tech took Milo back and removed his stitches. She brought him back to me and said he was all done. Obviously confused I asked when I would be seeing the doctor and she said that we weren't scheduled To see him anymore. I told her to please check as I did schedule him for the doctor visit the week prior. Not only did the doctor cancel my appointment with him without telling me, HE REFUSED TO SEE US. I was completely shocked. Side note I had just had a baby so I was extremely emotional and started crying. She said she would check with him again to see if he would see us that day and he didn't even come to the front to acknowledge me. He told her to say "we weren't a good fit for their office and that if we wanted the physical therapy and follow up visit to check the surgery site we would need to go to another vet." First of all, he completely abandoned his patient in this moment by not checking his own surgery site that we previously had concerns about. Second of all, we paid him already and this visit was supposed to be included. This bet had the audacity to not even come and tell this to my face. I honestly felt bad for the vet tech because she was super sweet and I could tell she felt bad for me and Milo. I appreciate that Milo was able to get this surgery and can now walk again, but abandoning your patient when your stitching job is questioned out of genuine concern by a licensed nurse is completely inexcusable. Milos wound site still looks ruffled and thick which is what we worried would happen. I wish I would have looked at all of the negative reviews of this office before going here. It really saddens me to see the gaslighting responses from the owner in response to all of his bad reviews. Be better. Care more. I am disgusted by your business practice. read more

Do not take your pet here! The customer service is horrific!!! If this is how they treat their customers I cannot imagine how they treat their patients. I was already having a rough day and my phone was low on battery when I pulled in with my pet. I had never been here so when I pulled in and there were many parking spots I pulled around the building to park near other cars because I was unsure where the entrance was. I parked and found that the entrance was actually on the other side of the building and I should have taken the first spot. I then entered and no one was in the lobby. I called out and someone came up, she gave me some paperwork to fill out, it asked for my license number, and a credit card (both required). I went for my wallet but I didn't have it in my purse! This is not a huge problem as I always carry cash so I knew I could cover todays appointment. Then the women came back up and said "did you park in back? That is employee only parking so you will need to move your car when your done filling out the paperwork" I asked if anyone would need that spot during my 1 hour appointment to which she responded it was policy and those are employee spots even though there were many other spots available in the parking lot. Then I inquired about why they need my ID and that I had left my wallet but that I had cash. She said she would not be able to see me without a copy of my ID so I started looking for a photo on my phone already feeling a little burned by needing to move my car even though there were many spots. Upon looking she stated that we were entering my appointment time, and if I could not find a photo then they could not see me today and I would need to find one soon. Then my phone died!!! I politely set down the papers and told her my phone died. I left and moved my car, then went back in with a charger (I don't have a car adaptor) and asked if i could please plug in for a few minutes. She went in back to check if this would be ok to which they said no!!!! I am appalled! I left, drove across the street and am now charging my phone in a shop with my pet because I literally had no battery to GPS myself home. What a joke. Worst service They have lack of professionalism, lack of compassion for your pets and it only seemed to be driven by the money I took my cat in for a visit, my cat had been exposed to ringworm and feline leukemia for a week. The doctor wanted to take a test of the feline Leukemia knowing the incubation period is 30 days, so he could charge me twice. I asked to wait on the test and check him for ring worms, he didn't even touch my cat and said no he's good and left!!! They told me pay for the consultation and in 30 days bring him back we will just get the sample you won't pay for the consultation again. At checkout I wanted to schedule the appointment and they told me we don't have any openings, I'll call you during the week. Never received a call, I called 1 and a half month later because I wanted to get an appointment and they won't take my cat in. I just noticed my cat has a ring worm as well. We took our newest baby Aolani to Rancho Sequoia since they are right down the street from our house. Everyone their was so friendly and welcoming. They took turns loving on our pup! It was Aolani's first set of shots and she was so comfortable she didn't even flinch with the vaccines. She was completely comfortable and so were we. Customer service is not something looked over here. We will definitely be bring all our pups here from now on instead of driving to Thousand Oaks! We only wish we knew about this place sooner. If I trust them with my babies they are completely doing things right! Thank you guys. read more

A little disappointed that I came 10 min before closing to get medication my pet needed and I can clearly see employees inside look at me and they just ignored me and kept the door locked. Like I get it, it's 10 min before closing but it's not like I'm trying to order a pizza. My pet needed her medicine. read more

Do not go here!! Going to a hospital would've been less. They shamelessly charge 3x as much as any other vet and they're all so insanely rude about it. $130 for a cough suppressant that I got from another vet for $20! We were there for 15 minutes no tests nothing. When I asked why it was so much they didn't even pretend like they cared they just treated me like I was being ridiculous. My dog is sick right now and you're gonna be rude to me?? Unbelievable I've never been to a place that cares so little about their profession. This place takes advantage of people with sick pets and it's disgusting. read more

Hello! I would like to say the doctor and staff at Rancho are very kind to me and my pets. I use to bring my two Pitt bulls here a few years back and had a great experience then and now as a returning client with both my frenchies I've still had a great experience the doctor is very knowledgeable, easy to speak to and takes the time to answer your questions staff are quick and easy to speak too. My boys aren't the best sometimes but they treat them with great care. Overall very happy and pleased will be stay at Rancho Sequoia. read more

This place is a waste of money like most veterinary places. I came in for a consultation of my dogs teeth. The teeth on my dog were suppose to be looked at to give me a price for his teething cleaning appointment. The doctor called me and said he never got to see my dogs teeth because he was growling and could only tell me the range of prices they offer but not how much my dog was gonna cost. They forced me to pay $50 for them to not successfully diagnose my dog and not give me any sort of correct pricing. This place is a joke and just wants ur money. read more

I visited this vet to try to get an updated prescription for our dog as we had recently moved to the area. The vet was convinced that our prior diagnosis was wrong, so we tried to send over some videos of our dog experiencing her symptoms. The vet never viewed the video. We called every day for a week and were told over and over that the vet would watch the video and get back to us with an update on what type of prescription would be most appropriate for our dog. Finally, we were able to speak with the doctor himself on the phone, he promised to watch our video and call us by the end of the day. No surprise, he didn't and no call. All we learned from this experience at this vet is that there is a huge communication barrier between their front office staff and their doctors, and not much gets done. read more
