I had such a wonderful experience at American vet! The staff were incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The front desk staff are fun and inviting. The doctor and techs took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions, and treated my pet with so much care and compassion even though he is a brat sometimes. You can truly tell they love what they do and go above and beyond to make me and my puppy comfortable. I'm glad they are open 7 days a week so I can go to them for any emergency and know my baby will be taken care of.

    Long day out :)

One of the better vets I have been to lately . This will be my goto place going forward . The vet I talked to Ani was knowledgable and staff were very nice . I have an older English bulldog and he was treated there very well and I felt very comfortable with the answers and the way they were with my dog which hasn't always been the case with other vets . Prices are also reasonable , One of the few places I don't feel like they are trying to milk every penny out of you (which is very sad by the way, we all know the joy of owning a pet can be expensive but some of these places are ridiculous (VCA) . Thank You All and keep up the great customer service and quality work !

I came here to see if it was my dogs time to go. I was in denial and I didn't want to hear the truth. I was asking the vet if I had all the money in the world if he had another chance at life and he told me he's seen people pull out many credit cards just for the dogs quality of life to not be the same or for them still to pass. He made it clear it was my decision and he would do whatever he had to do if I chose to pay but that my dog was basically already gone. He was cold, losing color and already very old. I appreciated the truth rather than him telling me to spend the money just for the same outcome to happen.. I thought I'd be going home with him that day but we decided it was his time. I kept him for two more hours so I could say my goodbyes And he got worse so we went back early and again they were so kind to let us go in room early. The girl that helped prepare my dog for the doctor made paw prints with my son. It took us maybe 30 minutes and finally we called the doctor in and said in 10 minutes we'd be ready. He came back in 5 and seemed very rushed and was starting to put the last dose but I told him I needed 5 more minutes. He gave me attitude and left and that made me feel so shitty. I couldn't stop thinking about it and it made me even more sad and just feel bad in general.. my 11 year old sister noticed his reaction and looked at me and told me it was okay that maybe he had a hard day. that was my only problem. Even after that incident he was nice. Again I was in denial, I was scared my dog would be alive still and just put away so I asked them to just make sure he was gone. They checked more than 3 times and he was sincere when he told me that he was gone. He didn't give attitude when I asked him to check. I'm not sure why he gave attitude when I asked for 5 minutes and although it made me feel terrible I thanked him for being so kind although I wish he never gave me the attitude and made me feel that way... I appreciate him being kind for everything else. I would recommend to other people. And the cost was reasonable compared to other places..

This was how they sent him home.

Let me just start this post by saying that I have taken my boy to this vet in the past and was unhappy with their services, but because of this seemed to be an emergency with no time to be wasted. I came home from work to find my dog, Buddy, unable to stand, swaying side to side, and drooling uncontrollably. Naturally, I rushed him to the nearest vet that came to mind- American Veterinary Hospital. They helped me carry him from the car and then held him in the waiting room while I wept uncontrollably and was begging that they help him. Instead of first asking me if he had been seen there before, they made me fill out 'new patient' paperwork until I realized what the papers were and told them that he had been here in the past; wasting possibly precious time. Next, they informed me that before they could do absolutely anything for him, I would have to make a $700 deposit. "You won't help him until I pay 700 dollars?" I pleaded. "No." They responded, as they stood there holding my boy in the waiting room. Side comment; this was during NORMAL business hours. I paid the money and they finally took him to the back to got him started on fluids and began to run tests. After spending just below $1,000 on the visit, I was told that it's either 'an inflamed nerve, or a brain tumor' and to monitor him for the next few days. What exactly did I spend $993 on if you can't even tell me what the hell just happened? Two DRASTICALLY different conditions with no actual answer. Now here's the worst part of the experience... upon getting home, I was trying to get him as comfortable in bed as I possibly could, as he was still extremely dizzy and unable to position himself comfortably. He began to wince as I moved him around, and that's when I realized that they had left his IV port inserted. They did not mention anything about this. I called them to ask what the deal was with this port and after passing me off from person to person, their response was " oh, that's common practice. You can either bring him back in or remove yourself." I'm obviously not going to bring him back in after just getting him back home, so I removed it myself, which I was in no way comfortable with. Once I had removed it, I noticed that it had been completely bent out of shape while in his vein, due to me moving him around so much. I informed them that whether or not this is common practice to leave that in place, the pet parent should at least be advised that it is still in place. They didn't apologize. They didn't take responsibility. Absolutely no accountability was taken. I later got a phone call from the vet who had seen him and he told me that the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about, and so that's why she seemed unconcerned. I expressed to him that this was not common practice, and that I was very upset. His response? "Well you have much bigger things to worry about with your dog". Edit to add : after taking him to his regular vet, the incredible Conejo Valley Vet, they were able to tell me what happened and help me further. And after showing them the photos and sharing this experience, they were baffled and apologized for this place's lack of compassion and work ethic.

Took our older dog in today after he gave his groomers a scare this morning. Didn't know about AVH until we looked up emergency vet and found them online. They couldn't have been more amazing! Super grateful for them and the amazing support they gave us today. After a quick checkup, turns out his age is finally catching up, but otherwise is completely healthy. Definitely will be going there from now on.

I attended their Grand Reopening last week and made an appointment for my son's dog for the next day. Dr Ekiadios was fantastic and explained his thought process. Vet tech was great and front office staff Blake was awesome. I found my new vet.

My Pomeranian had a suspected UTI. We took her in and it was a plug and play experience. Front desk super kind- nurse and doctor went above and beyond with their explanation. Dr Shamar and Mindy his assistant were great! The front desk is super approachable and are happy to help! Most importantly they had all common medication and labs on site

We truly love Dr. Vigue! We've also seen Dr. Jonah who is also very informative, compassionate and thorough. I recently had both of my dogs neutered there, and the level of care, compassion, and attentiveness they showed throughout the entire process meant the world to me. Kelsey in particular was absolutely amazing. As a very protective dog mom, I was understandably nervous, and I probably called far more than most people would for updates. Kelsey was so patient, kind, and understanding the entire time. She reassured me, kept me informed, and never once made me feel like I was bothering them. That level of patience and genuine compassion is something you don't come across everywhere. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary team that truly treats your pets like family.

I sought out Dr…read more Ron's services to get a quote on a spay for my kitten, but because they could not give an estimate over the phone I scheduled for a $92 initial appointment. I did think that was quite the cash grab, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. After the initial, the quote I received was around $900 for spay, which I thought was outlandish and simply decided to not return. (Spoiler: I was able to schedule elsewhere for TWO of my kittens for under $600) Anyway, it gets worse. Upon receiving a negative internal review from me, they called me to let me know that they happened to be running a promotion on spays. They also let me know there were some procedures they could probably take off to reduce the price (eg nail clipping). Convenient right? I let them know I already scheduled elsewhere, but I was potentially interested in a neuter. This is where it gets even more interesting. Naturally, they jumped on that possibility and "noticed" I didn't get the discounted initial appointment price for my first kitten because apparently I was supposed to mention she was a new patient. You mean I had to see on your website ahead of time and request the discount, rather than just give it to me because it's obvious it would be a first appointment? Ridiculous. But guess what? They were somehow willing to produce a quote for the neuter despite not having an initial appointment, like they required before for the spay. Not to worry, I went elsewhere, to an actual vet who specializes in cats (not a surgery center/spay neuter clinic) and paid around a quarter of the price for both of my kittens who are happy, healthy, and recovering nicely. TLDR: They're overcharging over here.
