I have met a great bunch of friendly people with different breeds. I adopted a husky named Tyson that has epilepsy. Super friendly dog. Then I adopted Sam who plays ruff but doesn't hurt dogs. And the white husky was hit by a car in July 2021. I adopted him in August. Tres Leche is his name. He has a great time howling with his friends and plays all day. The simi valley dog park is a good place to bring your dog. If I ever adopted a puppy, I would not bring it to the big dog side until the dog can handle the bigger dogs. They do get picked on. Allow them to gain confidence in the small side first

So yeah, I go to this place with my 130 pound Doberman. He doesn't like being tag team humped by a pair of obnoxious Huskies that ambushed him at the gate, but what else would you expect by bringing your dog into a gated area with 20 to 100 large canines swirling in a dog mosh pit. Some guy on a bench working his Grindr account doesnt notice his dog taking a giant crap near the entrance and doesn't clean it up, and some little kid walked through it, so it'll be a stinky ride home for that family. There's water faucets and poop scoops, so save a plastic tree and go green...or brown...or black...or mushy orange if you fed him fast food. Its a beautiful view up there above Simi Valley, and I overheard one hippie say it's his favorite place to get high, so it must be pretty good compared to the other dog parks that the depressed alcoholics take their rescue dogs with three legs too..."I think its that Sepulvada Basin place" said the drunk guy with the paralyzed dog with wheels to replace his back legs and drinking his vodka in Sprite bottle to some other sick looking fellow. Yes, Simi is clean, but don't wear your good kicks in there...you'll be sorry...unless you are just sitting around like that Grindr dude. If your male dog has nuts, I wouldnt take him in there...those pet owners with neutered dogs will go apecrap on you. Take him to Sepulvada Basin and bring enough money to bet on the dogfights there.

    My dog is somewhere there

Oh wow, this dog park is amazing. I brought my little doggie to this park and he absolutely loved it. The dog park is located up on top of the hill. It has its own parking lot. The dog park has a side for big dogs and small dogs and of course is double gated for security purposes. The park features a large, grassy area to play in. It even has a small hill which dogs can up and down on. This park has a few benches, but people were just standing around playing with their dogs or other dogs and talking to people. Their were so many cute friendly dogs. The owners are friendly and everyone kind of watches each other's dogs. There is a water fountain and also random water bowls throughout the park. I highly recommend this place. I even think it's worth thit drive since there's so much space to run. This place is Koa approved!!

So much history here with the old tv and movies that they used to film. At one point they had a watering hole set up to film underwater scenes and you can see the remnants of where they did it. The one main loop is very shaded which is nice, especially if you want to hike on a warmer day. They have beautiful rock formations with some caves. They also have park benches and picnic tables along the way to sit and rest and take in the beautiful scenery. I found a nice shaded picnic spot and had a surprise Mother's Day picnic with the trees and stream as a beautiful backdrop. My mom really enjoyed our day here. The only downfall is what it used to be. It's sad that a fire went through here and burned a lot of the set buildings they used to have . I wish I had seen it before that all happened. Too bad they didn't rebuild it.

In the summertime, it can be super hot so it's best to get started earlier in the morning. Recently, though we had a little rain and there was a whole lot more greenery than I ever remember seeing or expected. This was my first trip out in probably over a decade, so I decided to go in from a different direction to change it up a little bit, and I started from Bell Canyon and what a different beautiful trail that was with a creek running next to it, but before you go, I didn't notice until on my return back to my truck that this particular trail is actually private to those who live in the neighborhood; the few people I passed were pleasant and never asked if I was local or anything, so I think if you park and are just respectful and keep it quiet there won't be a big deal, but this trail is taking you around the mtn, so you're gonna add mileage to get to a place that you could actually park closer. The main trails are all well kept and in good condition and it's not until you get into the lesser used further out trails that you might encounter some slight bushwhacking, but the castle peak Summit is beautiful and fun as is the cave of the munits and other holes. Parking can be a pain, but it can be found, but may require a short walk.

Before that, my dog was a regular here for about a year and a half, daycare twice a week and boarding 4-6 times a year. Toward the end, we started getting messages about her being "too excited," nipping, or snapping. What was confusing is that these incidents were very spaced out, especially given how often she was there, and didn't seem consistent or escalating. We were then told they may need to "reconsider her social status," meaning she'd be removed from group play and placed in separated daycare for an extra fee. Based on how sporadic the feedback had been, it felt like a sudden shift and left me feeling like she was being singled out toward the end. I did ask if someone from management could reach out to talk it through, but never received a follow up, which was disappointing. It's also disappointing because we had many positive experiences, but based on the contrast, I do think environment or handling may play a role. I'd recommend asking detailed questions if any concerns come up.

My daughters loves all of the different play equipment, from your traditional slides and swings to the zip lines and sports (there was a group of guys playing handball and they'd never seen it before but enjoyed watching). The biggest issue we had was that there wasn't a bathroom anywhere, so we had to make another stop before getting back on the road. It was a nice spot otherwise, tucked behind a quiet neighborhood.

There are lots of mature trees for shade as well as plenty of open grass (though it's very hilly). The park has sand, jungle gyms for kids of various sizes, a handball court, a basketball court, benches and tables. My favorite part of the park is the zip lines that can totally be used by the average adult too . What I don't like: * It's right next to a freeway which gives me concerns about air quality. * I don't think that there's a bathroom (I wasn't looking for one, so there may be one but I didn't see it.) * There's a bridge to go from one side to the other. However if you have someone in a wheel chair there's a post that would keep them from being able to get through. * Parking can be a bit scarce. It's tucked in the middle of a neighborhood. So there isn't a parking lot or anything like that. Another thing of note, we have visited this park twice. The first time we visited people were friendly enough. This last time, I got some weird vibes from the people who were there. No one really said hello. Then my son was playing on the playground while I changed my daughter nearby and some kids came over. When we left, my son told me that the kids didn't want to play with him and threw some sand at him. Unfortunately he told me as we were leaving or I would've addressed the issue with the mothers. I get that kids will be kids and I know how to talk to my son about not taking things like this personally. But I think it's important to add as one of the big parts of bringing your child to the park is getting social interaction. Of course this will totally depend on who's there, so YMMV. No
