It's popular among locals for its peaceful atmosphere, views of the hills and ocean, and a place where kids, dogs, and adults can all relax. Perfect spot to have a picnic with no loud noises. I suspect they replaced the ground material in the park. I discovered this park before DogPPL but now that we can't get to DogPPL because of the road closures. we are back at free Trancas! I love it because it's huge. However, there is no delineation between large and small, it's one giant park. It's way out by Trancas and just a quick drive up into the canyon from the Vintage Grocer, another store I love! So you can pop in at the vintage grocer and grab some snacks for yourself or after you get finished with the dog park you can swing down there and stop at one of the restaurants. I know Kristy's is located in the center now as well as the brewery. The location of the dog park is impressively scenic as far as dog parks go. There are canyon and ocean views. The restrooms are generally pretty clean; they've never been filthy even though they are ranger maintained public facilities. There's a really cute little kids playground that has the squishy ground, which feels so nice to walk on and then of course the gigantic soccer field. There's plenty of free parking and it's never been crowded. I have had some negative dog encounters here because it is so quiet people will sometimes bring less than fully socialized dogs here. So you have to be cautious and monitor your dog if they're not in the park alone. But that's any dog park. And as a dog owner, we owe it to our pups to monitor them. There's no cell phone service here at least for me with AT&T, but I do love the ocean views. It's really a great dog park. The picnic table is in the shade always helps us beat the heat. And although my dog doesn't jump over the little rails or going to the red tunnel, he loves that there's chaparral on the hill that he can go pee and sniff, and he loves all the trees in the park and the positioned rocks within the park. They're fun little obstacles for him and I to play hide and seek

We recently rented Pavilion A at Oak Canyon Community Park for our daughter's 4th birthday splash…read moreparty, specifically because of its proximity to the splash pad. The park itself is beautiful and clean, which is why we felt confident booking it for such an important celebration. Unfortunately, shortly after our event began, the splash pad stopped working and remained off for the duration of our rental. This was the main activity for approximately 20 children in attendance. While a park ranger attempted to assist, there was ultimately no resolution. What was especially disappointing was the lack of urgency and care from park staff. There was no real apology or effort to make the situation right. We had to go through hoops just to get someone on the phone, which was frustrating in the middle of hosting a children's party. If pavilions are being rented out for private events, you would expect someone to be readily available to assist renters when issues arise. Additionally, we were told at booking that Pavilion B was already reserved and that inflatables were only permitted in that space. However, Pavilion B remained empty the entire time. Had we known, we would have booked that pavilion or adjusted our plans to include a bounce house to make up for the loss of the splash pad. While the park grounds are well maintained, the lack of communication, unavailable amenity, and absence of real-time support made what should have been a joyful day unnecessarily stressful. I hope improvements are made so other families do not have a similar experience.

The park is a bit small, there were allot of dogs in the big dog side and it was pretty crowded. What i believe is the small dog side was completely empty. My dogs need more running space and it would probably be too much for them to be in this rectangle with so many other dogs. People were smiling and chit chatting so it seems like a good crowd that visits.

There are 3 sections to this dog park. The grassy area is randomly locked, though. The small dog are is very small, and oftentimes all the doors are open, or someone is in the small dog area with a dog who is not dog friendly. Not sure why people bring dogs who are not dog friendly to dog parks, but we've encountered that a few times at this dog park. If your dog is not dog-friendly, please don't bring them to a dog park. We try to go here, but I often end up taking him to De Anza Park, down the street. He can't be off-leash, but he likes it better. Which is sad, because he usually LOVES dog parks, and being around other dogs. But, more often than not, he immediately wants to leave, and prefers the other park
