Stopped by since I was nearby. Parking is easy and there's lots of spots to park. I did not have my dogs with me it was me checking it out on my own to decide if I would ever bring them. The park is a bit small, there were allot of dogs in the big dog side and it was pretty crowded. What i believe is the small dog side was completely empty. My dogs need more running space and it would probably be too much for them to be in this rectangle with so many other dogs. People were smiling and chit chatting so it seems like a good crowd that visits. read more

First, Stephanie's review sounds like it's for a different park. There's nothing for children at this dog park. And there are no restrooms... just one porta potty. There are 3 sections to this dog park. The grassy area is randomly locked, though. The small dog are is very small, and oftentimes all the doors are open, or someone is in the small dog area with a dog who is not dog friendly. Not sure why people bring dogs who are not dog friendly to dog parks, but we've encountered that a few times at this dog park. If your dog is not dog-friendly, please don't bring them to a dog park. We try to go here, but I often end up taking him to De Anza Park, down the street. He can't be off-leash, but he likes it better. Which is sad, because he usually LOVES dog parks, and being around other dogs. But, more often than not, he immediately wants to leave, and prefers the other park read more

Nobody respects the small dog vs large dog area. Big dogs are always in the part designated for small dogs with the gates wide open between sections. The small dog section has no grass and little shade. There is a grass section in the large dog section but it can get muddy and sometimes the gates are locked for whatever reason. Overall, this is great if you have a big dog but not so great for littler dogs, especially if they aren't comfortable around large dogs. read more

This dog park I have to say is not that good. First off it has fleas! Second off. Maybe it's the time I came, but none of the owners are the very social.. The dogs are not that social. I would rate this park at the bottom of my list. If I had to choose a dog fart, there's so many other dog parts that are so much more welcoming and it's pretty small. It has 3 separate sections, but it seems like everybody just jumps into one. Oh, did I mention it's very dusty cause.I don't think they take care of this place. I don't own a dog right now, but I am thrilled the City has FINALLY made this lovely outdoor space into a real park-- not only for dogs, but for humans young & old. I have grandchildren and they do have dogs. This park has play equipment for the children, well-fenced spaces for dogs where they can run with other dogs and most importantly RESTrooms! BTW. The reason that I do not yet give this wonderful park 5 stars is that there are no swings for the younger children. Yet. I was there on the day of the park opening A person working at the park told me there would be some swings for the under-seven-set in the future. Maybe the swings are there now'! Maybe it was bad timing but this place was empty on a Thursday afternoon at 3:45. We were there for under 30 minutes because our dog was bored. It is a nice space of wood chips and trees with the regular dog park stuff. Returned on another weekday at the same time and the park was empty but, this time a few dogs arrived shortly after we did and my dog had a fun time playing. I like the wood chips because it made picking up the poop easier. On our third visit, we arrived at 4 on a Friday and there were a nice big group of dogs playing. The grassy area was open and it seems that this is the prime time people bring their dogs. read more

It's a nice park but it has its own old mob. Same old people are there all hours of the day and although they have never been rude to me I've witnessed some crazy interactions with kids and others that is unbearable. They are basically bunch of grumpy old guys and their usual friends hanging around with their old dogs and are super territorial. Besides the people, the park seems clean and I haven't had any issues with fleas or other dog park problems, there is also a water dispenser for the dogs . I must add , for a dog owner who has 2 small dogs and a big dog I would never bring my small dogs here ever. They don't really do the whole small side big side , and the owners bring their dogs through and open gates without a care in the world for the smaller pups. Nice walking park, not just a dog park. Also, easy access to Kobe Bryant Memorial site. Easy to get to, just park at the Dog park. There's a trail that leads up the mountain. The walk is all uphill. Memorial site approx 1.2miles up the hill. From there you can continue another 2.2mi or take the longer 7mi trail. We did the 2.2mile. Total of 6miles. Again nice trail to walk.. not very busy either. read more

The park is for bear size dogs only. There were smaller breeds running together with big ones, but they can not do much in this environment, maybe just train dodging skills. The big dogs were were calm and behaving well though. There is a gate that supposed to separate 2 sides of the park, but it is always opened. read more

Happened to be in the area so we brought our 50 pound Golden Doodle "Daisy" to the park one Sunday morning. Not too crowded as it was about 10am. Only the "grassy" section was open -- with grass and dirt mixed together but there were lots of flies everywhere -- probably due to the type of garbage cans filled with dog poop that had no lids on them. Not the biggest dog park I've been to and I've read the reviews about the bad owners and dogs but didn't experience that during my one visit. Probably won't return as there are other choices that are better. read more

I Love this park. My dog is very happy there. He has many "friends" and he's having a lot of fun playing with them. I also feel safe because it's all fenced around the park. The people are really nice and we are all enjoying watching our great dogs having so much fun there. It's also a great place to social because as I've mentioned the people there are super nice. read more

Won't be back! Some strange clicky type of people here! I like that it's close to my house but I won't come back. A lot of snobby know it all types here. I didn't come here to be personally judged and to have my dog judged as well. I actually saw a heated argument between two dog owners! Over what? Who knows. These people need to chill out and respect others and the dogs of others. If you want to act high and mighty do it somewhere else... Alone! My tax dollars at work... The grass is in horrible condition half of the year as well. If you want to be judged and starred at by many little clicky groups that THINK they are veterinarians and or professional dog trainers, then this is your spot! We like this park and come here often. Every dog park will sometimes have bothersome dogs and people. That's part of the reality of going out in public. The people and dogs here are generally great. We've had a couple of difficult experiences with irresponsible owners but part of choosing to go to a dog park is learning to deal with that. It's actually been pretty rare. I like that there are three sections that can separate the dogs if necessary. The biggest section is the grass area which is only open on weekends. Also, the grass area was completely closed up until May this year (2018) for reseeding. It is a well cared-for park. read more

Man. Where do I start? The park itself is okay, nothing amazing. It has mulch instead of grass on half the park which, okay sure. But the people. Holy shit. Take the stereotypes you'd expect to find in Malibu/Calabasas and throw them all in a pen with their dogs. It's like an amalgam of neurosis personified. There's one regular, a middle aged Aussie or Brit (can't tell, his accent is really muddled) man with two large dogs who thinks he's the mayor. He causes a lot of issues from what I can tell. The theme of this park seems to be a bunch of people telling other people what to do. It's a shame because it's the closest park to my house. Not a fan of this dog park and prefer the Canejo dog park and Oak canyon dog park better. They should have spent the money on the last renovation into replacing the wood chips with grass and creating seperate large and small dog areas instead of upgrading the parking lot. Pros: Fancy new parking lot (who cares?) Double gated entrance Poop bag stations. Dog water station. Lots of shade. Cons: Wood chips and only partially grassy. This park is more suitable for big dogs than it is for small ones. All of the small dogs were playing in the large dog enclosure both times I visited. My dog is only 6 pounds and I don't want him mixing with huge dogs we don't know. Still, we gave it a try, and most dogs were well-behaved (some more than others). The small dog area is tiny and sloped on a hill, which could explain why people changed enclosures. The other owners were extremely friendly, but some seemed to micromanage each other. It's not really a community I would want to join. I greatly prefer Oak Canyon Dog Park. read more

Clean, well maintained park, drinking fountain for your dog. Good parking. Better behaved dogs than some dog parks, but still some negligent owners who think its no big deal for their dog to show aggressive behavior toward others' dogs. There are three sections to this dog park: 1 small gated area (wood chips) for dogs less than 25lbs. 1 medium/large gated area (wood chips) for any dogs. 1 large gated area (grass) for any dogs (closed Mon-Thurs). (You can open or close the grassy gate to make a larger area for the dogs to run around, but they usually seem content in any one of the sections.) read more

I was so disappointed in this park. Have to say I am somewhat of a dog park connoisseur...I have 2 dogs and we go to the dog park daily even when on vacation. Anyway. People were nice and pretty attentive to their dogs. I visited this park while on vacation. I was a little put of by the "Beware of Rattlesnakes" sign on the gate. We don't have that issue at the parks where I am from. There was a decent amount of seating and shade, but the park is small so it seemed really crowded. There are bags available to pick up after your dog and drinking fountains for people/pets. The thing I hated about this park was there was no grass. The ground was all mulch. I thought it was an odd choice for dogs to run around on...especially in this neighborhood. I wouldn't go back. read more

I expected the calabasas dog park to be a little snooty but these people looked at me like I was worse than the poop their dog left behind. Small park (much better for small dogs than big ones). Wood chips in the large dog area so be careful if your dog has sensitive feet. Probably would go to the sepulveda dog park before I would come here again. read more

Today was my dog and my first visit here, which was also our first time at a dog park. Everyone was very nice who was there, and the dogs were friendly (I know this may vary) . My dog can be timid at times so I was worried at first how he would behave.. But I'm glad that it was a nice experience for both of us! BEWARE of a tall woman with her tan pitt mix at the park most days from 8-10 AM. She took absolutely no responsibility for her dog's aggressive and menacing behavior towards my own dog. My golden was playing safely and engaging in regular puppy play when hers ran up to mine and started trying to bite and attack him. I understand the rough nature that dogs like to engage and play. I can distinguish proper, safe, ROUGH play vs. hostile, dominating behavior. Hers was using the latter. Someone had to use a spray horn to prevent her dog from nearly tearing into mine. A SPRAY HORN. And guess what? She had to nerve to tell me "well if this is too rough you should just move your dog to the other side because I don't want to have to keep pulling Opie away." NEWSFLASH lady. I know proper dog play!! Yours was being a little sh*thead to mine! If your dog shows ANY remote signs of aggression to ANY dog, you must remove that source of danger from the situation. I don't care if you cling to the other owners here and would rather socialize than watch your dog. You have to be a responsible fcking owner. I chose to leave and protect MY dog because she refused to show any maturity and responsibility. You can never trust another dog;s behavior which is why we look to their humans to do the right thing. Don't expect that here at this park, especially if that woman is there with her dog, Opie. The clique-y community here is just as complicit with the irresponsible owners irresponsibility it chooses to protect. read more

Awful dog park. Can't get any worse. Not well kept... wood chips instead of grass. A bunch of aggressive big dogs and owners who don't care about their misbehaving dogs. They leave all the gates open so the small and big dogs mix. Big mistake!!!!! Don't take your dog here unless you want them to be attacked. Also, the dogs were jumping on people too! This place was fabulous! I went there with my 15 lb pup and she had a blast. It is hot California, so yes the big play areas have wood chips. I didn't mind it , nor did my pup. The water fountain is only accessible in the large dog area, so that kinda is a bummer. Thankfully there was only 1 big dog that was really playful/gentle so it was fine. There were a few ''deposits'' here and there, but that's just lazy dog owners. They even have dog bags and poop scoopers for public use. We will be going back! read more

The dogs are mostly fine, it's the owners... My experiences here at the Calabasas Bark Park have shown me the best and the worst in people. For the record, this park has some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Friendly, helpful, attentive, concerned. Then there's that one random bad owner who shows up from time to time and is just a jerk. Aggressive dog. Doesn't care. Blames everyone else. The problem is that you never know when the jerk is going to be there. So coming to the CBP can be either a great time for you and your dog or it can be one of those exercises in patience and tolerance. The grass area is the nicer of the gated spaces but only open on the weekends. During the week expect to be in the wood chip area - not the most desirable space for fido to play, as it is both dirty/dusty and I've heard from others that the chips have scratched a few dogs' eyes while playing. Parking is ample, and the park is clean. read more

Okay so this is the smallest of dog parks in the area.... Thousand oaks, Simi Valley & Camarillo. I have 2 small dachshunds This park is geared towards big dogs. There is a very small area for little dogs. There is bark not grass.... And the regulars micromanage your every move. It Really bugs me when people do this at a dog park. Bottom line go to Thousand Oaks it's way nicer, huge and everybody's nice. read more

This park is too small. There is a separate dog area for small dogs and big dogs. No one uses it due to the small size of the large dog area. The ground bark and not comfortable for the dogs feet. The grass side is only open on the weekends. Due to the size of the park, the dogs have no where to run when nervous. There seems to be many bad incidences here. There are people that think they are "Ceasar Millan", pin dogs down and do alpha rolls. This only upsets the dogs more. I live within walking distance and will not take my dogs there. read more

If you don't know where it is, the park is not visible from the road, if you are travelling south on Malibu Canyon Rd. I drove right by and didn't notice it. I found it on my way back, but not until I drove by it. The driveway into the parking lot is lush with trees, that also surrounded the dogpark. This was a nice, well-maintained park that my dogs really enjoyed. I brought them on a Friday, late in the afternoon so it wasn't too crowded. There seemed to be 3 separate, fenced in areas, but with gates to access each area. One of the gates was open, so that the dogs had run of a larger space. There were mostly large dogs there so it seemed to work. The large dog area was mostly grass, the 2 other areas were woodchips. There were water fountains for them and scoopers for poo, as well as a poopbag dispenser. Several park benches lined the outer edges and there were a few trees that made the area more intimate. I don't like how this park is all wood chips. It's dirty and dusty and hard to see any dog poop that's there. The people who go there can also be interesting to say the least. Some people bring aggressive dogs too. I like the oak canyon park much better. read more

In love. I absolutely love this dog park! I was nervous because I have one small dog (about 15lbs) and one big dog, both are rescue and the larger one has anxiety and is fearful of other dogs. Everyone in this park was welcoming and friendly, one man in particular put me at ease immediately and my dogs could feel the nervousness leave me. I was relaxed and my dogs were relaxed and we had a terrific time! All of the other dogs were well mannered and well looked after. My dogs were social and unafraid. Ive been there twice now in as many days and we will be regulars from here on out. I highly recommend this dog park, mainly for the friendly nature of the dogs and their owners. read more

The park is very well cared for, with tons of green grass and lights at night. Unfortunately, the park is quite small, and the large dogs roam freely into the small dog park. There are also a couple of dog owners (or possibly dog babysitters/walkers) who come to the park daily with huge numbers of dogs, which they don't police at all, and instead micromanage and lecture the other dog owners. One person in particular is so bad that I've had to stop going to the park altogether. If you live north of here you're better off going to the Oak Park dog park, and if you're south your only other option is the Lake Balboa dog park. read more

This is the kind of dog park where the owners don't care what their dog does, turns a blind eye while their dog is pooping, and sits on a bench while their dog gets into trouble. To top it off, this place has a SERIOUS fly problem. I've not been there once without being covered in flies. It is especially comforting when you know these flies are feasting on the dog poop located all over the park. On a positive note, I'm thankful there is a dog park where I can take my dog in a relative vicinity to Malibu. She enjoys it. It is a small park, with two areas. a nice and small dog park with easy accessibility from the main street and close to the freeway without the freeway traffic, noise and smog. i love this park. Probably one of the best collective group of dogs and owners in SOCAL. Everyone seems to always be responsible for his or her dog. If you dont pick up after your dog you will be reminded by the group, which is cool. I dont know anyone who will like to step in dog poop. I visit whenever i am in the area. Great Place. If I could do no stars, I would. Terrible dog park. No grass?!?! And the gate on the small dog side wouldn't hold a big dog, much less my 4 lb Chihuahua! Its tiny, no room to run. We saw this park on our way to Leo Carrillo beach and decided to stop by on the way home. There were few people there but everyone was very friendly and inviting. We have a small dog and all of the dogs were large. All of them were very well-behaved and even made our little chihuahua comfortable enough to play with them. This is a beautiful little park and I will definitely bring my dog by every time we head over to Leo Carrillo. read more
