Dr. O'Hara has been my orthopedist for several years now, and I think he's great. He knows his stuff and he's very personable. But the point of today's review is to focus on a staff member who helped me with administrative stuff at the end. Of all the years I've gone there, I haven't had a bad experience with any of the staff, but today, I want to focus on one in particular. Her name is Renee. Of all my life going to all kinds of doctors I don't think I ever remember meeting a staff member who was friendlier, more competent, and more empathetic than Renee was to me today. I dont understand why Dr. O'Hara doesn't have 5 stars. This doctor is amazing! He listens very intentionally to your concerns and is very successful with diagnosis and treatment plan. He does not rush through his visits. I highly recommend Dr. O'Hara as your Ortho Doctor read more

Doctor O'Hara was the only doctor out of five that discovered I had a fracture in my spine, Was able to repair it through Surgery. His care and bedside manner is exceptional. A very good doctor. read more

Yesterday with Dr. Ohara was a horrblle and demeaning experience. He interrupted me each time I tried to explain my spine history and pain symptoms, and totally disregarded anything I told him. When he began explaining what he was seeing in my x-ray (scoliosis, shifting, etc.) and what treatment and/orsurgery options there were he was ONLY looking at my husband while explaining (badly by the way). He would not look at me. Due to screaming back pain I was in tears before, during and after seeing Dr. Ohara and he could not have been more apathetic. (And I wasn't seeking drugs - I have them, closely monitored and adminstered by my husband). I've been down the opiate route and that's never happening again. I mentioned being a teacher, and again, looking ONLY at my husband he talked for minutes about two of his relatives who worked as teachers and contradicted me on information only I would know with regard to salary in the district I work for. I'm the teacher, but he's conversing with my husband about it as if I'm not even in the room. I spent 20 minutes being ignored while trying not to scream, "Look at ME! Talk to ME!" But I was raised to always be polite, so I didn't. I was demeaned, dismissed, and ignored, but he paid GREAT attention to my husband. Maybe because I was a woman, I was not worth listening to or talking to. I wish I coould say this was a unique experiencse, but I've been suffering from this pain for 8 years and have seen too many doctors who made the suffering even worse because of how I was treated. Seems like a nice man personally, but he totally dismissed my neuropathy as "you're getting old." Not once, but three different times. Finally, a second opinion with a neurosurgeon at another hospital found a massive tumor in my spine which would have eventually paralyzed me. If Dr. O'Hara had at least gotten me to someone else who might have helped, or he had acknowledged that he might not have been the right person to help me, I wouldn't still be suffering from the effects of nerve damage. I thought doctors were supposed to 'first do no harm.' I left him a message to let him know about the tumor and, of course, never heard back. Just FYI. I emailed tmphysiciannetwork.org/contact-us/ and used their patient feedback portal as Jill G. wrote. That was weeks ago, and once again, never heard a thing. Not sure what is going on with Torrance Memorial. They are supposed to be so good, but clearly they do not care. read more

If you have the opportunity to find someone else please do. Office is constantly running behind be prepared to wait an hour or more. I waited 1.5 hrs for my last appointment. Impossible to get a hold of any front office staff. He talks over his patients, I told him I have pain coming from my hip and si joint and he immediately told me it was a back problem. Upon review of the mri he so poorly explained my results that my general practitioner had to tell me what my actual issue was. Now after months of pt I'm going back to have a second mri because he was so sure it was a back injury he never ordered a review of the areas where I told him we're hurting. Also he told me I was young and healthy so I would be totally fine when I could barely walk really lacks bedside manner. The only plus was he didn't aggressively push surgery. Looks like he's also paying someone to juice his google reviews since his reviews have dramatically gone up since last year. Def avoid. read more

Dr. O'hara handled two of my surgeries, neck & back. His is a top notch surgeon and his bedside manner is terrific.

BEWARE- BEWARE -get 2nd and 3rd opinions. Was pep-talked, miss diagnosed and sold by Dr O'hara on a lumbar laminectomy that I did not need, (he mis diagnosed sciatica- was actually blocked artery) . When it went horribly wrong, ( 4 emergency visits in excruciating pain and 4 spinal epidurals) Dr O'hara turned his back on me offered no explanation or help, except to send me to pain management. Dr. O'Hara gave me my life back Because of Dr. O'Hara I Am leading a 'normal life.' After recuperating from the successful back surgery he performed in July (spinal fusion L2,L3), I was able to go to Walt Disney World at Christmastime with my husband and grandkids as planned. I was able to fly six hours sitting in an airplane seat, walk the Disney parks easily -- for the first time in years. Nerve pain in both my legs had been extremely painful beforehand, which curtailed so many normal activities many take for granted. Dr. O'Hara is truly gifted. I've been seeing Dr. O'Hara for about 10 years and in that time he's performed 6 surgeries on my spine, all a result of hereditary issues, all successful and without residual problems. In fact, my Father and two sisters have been treated successfully by him as well. His approach is conservative -- which is what I most admire about him. He listens. He informs you of your options and provides you with options for the best plan forward. My spine is now the best it's ever been, I'm now able to walk, hike, bike ride, travel and play with the grandkids. Dr. O'Hara made it possible and I couldn't be happier. He's surrounded himself with the BEST staff, as well. They are caring, understanding, efficient and great at following up which is so important. I am thankful for what he's made possible. I agree with all the comments about long waiting times. He's a very busy doctor. However, he's also very good at what he does and I'm willing to wait hours if needed to see one of the best spinal surgeons on the area. All doctors double and even tripple book appointments nowadays. Often it's not the doctors wish to do so but the network they are in. It's their insurance against too many patients cancelling and re-scheduling. The business end of things wants to squeeze every dollar out of clinics. Waiting times have increased everywhere. Dr. O'Hara have worked on my neck and lower spine with excellent results. The nerves in my neck was so bad that I was losing use of my fingers in both hands and I had so much pain that I could barely breathe. After the fusion I was almost completely painless in that area of my body. The disc between L5 - L6 was completely gone and needed another fusion. The surgery was only somewhat successful, this not due to any incompetence of Dr. O'Hara. Extenuating circumstances made it a very difficult operation. Dr. O'Hara did the best he could. I now find myself in the position of needing another surgery and I'm going back to Dr. O'Hara a third time. I trust him to do everything in his power for the best possible solutions. To those having problems getting appointments for emergencies, go to the ER. It's what it's there for after all. read more

Dr O'Hara is a truly gifted orthopedic surgeon! He performed a very successful spinal fusion on my back three months ago at the C4-5 region. After being bedridden due to pain for eight months, I decided to undergo surgery because physical therapy, chiropractic care & a spinal pain injection did nothing to relieve my pain. I'd highly recommend inpatient physical therapy afterwards to complete your full recovery. I'm now able to return to my yoga practice five days a week. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was in the emergency room twice and the ER doctor recommended me to Dr. O'Hara and personally called him, too. When I went to see Dr. O'Hara he disregarded everything I said, laughed at me while I was crying of pain, didn't listen to anything I told him, and didn't even bother to request the correct MRI I needed. I'm astounded at how terrible his care was. In a time of crisis he really did nothing to help at all. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone. read more

Dr O'Hara performed a multi level (C5-C7) spinal fusion to repair injuries from a car accident as well as previous fusions from other surgeons that had failed (I'm fused from C3-C7 now) . Now I finally am pain free with surprisingly good range of motion. His professionalism and caring nature set him apart from other spinal surgeons I've experienced. read more
