Will be at 2 stars until issue is cleared up. Paid for a hand gun that was a PPT. Did all my required paperwork and paid for it. Was told my basic come back in the mandatory 10 days. Came back in 11 as day ten was a Sunday and they were closed. Never got a call from them about my status. The man who helped me whose I name I did not get, even mentioned to his coworker about this issue happening repeatedly. Was informed it was delayed. Waited until day 30, still no call to inform me. Called them myself and was informed I would need to cancel my sale or redo my paper work. Day 30 plus 10 more after resubmission. No call again, had to call myself once more. Looked up myself the laws pertaining undetermined status, was never informed of my changes and was not released my firearm on day 30 as allowable. If you are going to deny a firearm on undetermined it should be explained to prospective customers at time of sale or posted some where on site whether physical or digital. All but one of the employees I have interacted with has sloppy or don't really seem to care or explain any basics of their process. Even with other customers that I am observing. Have talked to many other gun stores and if not cleared up will be changing stores and purchasing from somewhere else. We will see. As a side not in October had signed up for classes. Was canceled on twice and put on a call list as the range was being maintenanced. Never called back or notified, yet every time I'm there range seems open and perfectly fine. read more

I recently went into the store with a no real knowledge of tactical gear or guns. I heard they had a gun range in their store and I was interested in finding out what this place was all about. They have a huge selection of everything from shirts, pants, boots, knives, flashlights, safes, shotguns, and handguns. When I first got there I was a little overwhelmed but immediately I was assisted by the owner, he is very knowledgeable and really helped me out. I tried out the range and had a great time shooting. I also purchased a safe. It is a great investment for keeping all my valuables and private files in. All in all its a great store, with a great staff and I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. read more

Range Masters of SLO is a first class operation. Great new modern indoor firing range, well stocked new store, knowledgeable sales/service staff and friendly atmosphere. Range Masters of SLO has a great professional instructor that teaches beginning shooters, those wanting a refresher course, or more advanced shooting techniques. Range Masters is an especially great place for parents that want to introduce their children to the proper respect and safe handling of firearms. I have taken two National Rifle Association (NRA) courses and drive from Santa Maria to SLO for the training and to use the Range. Some folks (probably deluded) think I'm one of the most knowledgeable and experienced folks in the firearms industry having sent over 1,600,000 rounds off and have made guns for Presidents,Generals, Police departments, Sheriffs and Secret Service personnel....John and the folks at Rangemasters are first rate people and the store has the best inventory in the state. There is nothing else that comes close for products and service in their genre. If they don't have it (like African Rifles and super grade shotguns) talk to John and they'll get it for you. I just want to say what a very enjoyable morning we had today at Range Master. We are a family of 5 on holiday from England and having never shot handguns before, we wanted to learn to shoot while in the USA. We arrived without making an appointment and although it was a busy Saturday morning, the very friendly and helpful staff made the time to fit us in. John very clearly and expertly explained to us how to handle a gun and to shoot safely and then took us onto the range were we spent two hours in a very safe and comfortable environment. I've been to Range Master no less than 10 times in the past year purchasing equipment, guns, and having uniforms altered. Everyone at this facility has always been extremely courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. I read a negative comment from the gentleman who only had his flat badge and did not want to show his ID to make a purchase. Every real law enforcement officer would not of hesitated to show their ID as those of us in the business know, we have to show it all the time. I was very impressed with Range Master of San Luis Obispo. They have a great selection of guns, tactical gear, clothing, flashlights, targets, gun cleaning supplies, rental guns, and pretty much anything that you can ever think of in the realm of guns and tactical gear. TThe Range Master staff are true professionals in every sense, from demeanor, service level, and detailed information in which I have the utmost confidence. I can't imagine buying or having service on my weapons anywhere else. Jon Shadwick and company are the definition of friendly and effective customer service. Other businesses could learn from them. And the safety intrinsic to the environment is evident from the time you enter the facility, beginning with the monitored and manually secured entrance, which I have not seen since learning on the range owned by off-duty Philadelphia Police many years ago. read more

The team at the service desk was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They were helpful, answered all our questions, and made the process smooth and easy. I would recommend going during non-peak hours, as it can get a little crowded inside during busy times. Visiting during off-hours gives you plenty of elbow room and a more relaxed experience. If you forget any safety gear, they offer loaner equipment, which is a huge plus. They also have a great variety of pistols available for rent. Overall, a well-run place with great customer service! I volunteer with a couple of agencies both local and statewide and have used their great range many times. I have always found the store and the indoor range to be both clean and organized with knowledgeable people behind the counter. I wanted to include in my five star review the uniform shop and Julie in particular, she has always been very helpful when it comes to uniforms. Julie has on many occasions gone out of her way to help with updating different patches and providing information on uniforms. My first choice for all things uniform related. Went in with a foggy memory about cocking and uncocking a pistol. Took the safety and knowledge test with my first time shooter buddy . As women the staff were/was very patient and kind. Anthony, the safety assistant was one of the coolest , down-to-earth guys I've ever encountered in any gun range indoor or outdoor. he made our visit easy as well as interesting for us ladies. The worst customer service this gun collector has ever experienced. Have heard the same from other. Do yourself a favor and go to ANY other gun store. PS: don't try and buy a Cal FIre hat, they will ask for a fire department badge and then make you feel like a criminal for trying to purchase - - I was told I had a "sick little mind" . . .sorry, my brother is a firefighter and I thought the hat was cool. read more

I have shot at RangeMasters at least once per week for over a year. I find them to be very friendly and customer oriented. The range is great and is usually not crowded. They have a very good selection of both firearms and accessories. Good parking, neat and clean, and a friendly greeting when I walk through the door....I obviously enjoy the place and look forward to today's visit. read more
