When I went into the store neither employee greeted me and the store had racks everywhere you could barely get around , I've never seen it such a mess in all the years I have shopped here. I stood at the register for over 5 minutes and was being ignored I finally yelled out "can I please be helped?" The employee walked over to me totally annoyed and said "what do you need help with?" I told her i needed to exchange for a smaller size and she said "well did you want to find the items?" I said " you don't have them which is why I would like to order them" she was so rude and unhelpful. I came in to exchange item from a previous in store purchase my sales person was chaz they were extremely helpful and their customer service was amazing. I asked the employee if we could order online because i used $80 of rewards and my torrid cash. When ordering she said i had to pay more because it's online , I've shopped at many other locations and know that it can be overridden. She refused to do it so I said then I will just return everything then Im not gonna pay more for what I already purchased. I lost out on money because of the rewards i used but i don't even care I will never spend another dime at this location which is unfortunate because it's the only location in this area so I probably will never shop this brand again. Once i did the return and went to my car i checked to receipt and guess who the employee was? Deborah. She is the blondish one with glasses and short hair very rude. I've been in here before where she was trash talking other employees and the district manager she obviously hates her job and her whole attitude shows it. Makes it so unpleasant for customers , I've never met someone in customer service who is so rude.

This store really does a great job of being a great local vendor for mid to higher end value…read moresneakers. I happen to search for some sneakers for my wife that at least had some purple in the coloration, and some clearance ones showed up at this local store. I turned up about an hour before closing and not one, but two kind salespersons helped me search the store. We went thru most of the clearance racks, and the sneaker sections, and at first found nothing. For some reason, the sneakers were displayed no where near where they normally should be. While it took awhile, they were a bargain, and my wife loved them, and I got two pairs. They were New Balance brand which also had nice thick comfy soles. If one wants discount sneakers at outlet prices, this is far better than driving to the Oxnard Outlet area. In addition, they did honor giving a new customer discount, thus saving even more.

After trying on several pairs of shoes, I brought two pairs to the front with the intention of purchasing one of them. They were different brands, so I figured it was pretty likely that at least one qualified in the 25% sale. The employee working that day (at least the only one I saw or spoke to) let me know neither one qualified and freely admitted that the "almost everything" was really not accurate, pointing to just a couple of sections where there were shoes on sale. Thanks for false advertising, DSW. Beyond this bad start, the shoes I selected from the clearance section (which, mind you, were not inherently outside of the 25% off sale) had a purple sticker, indicating they were 30% off the price listed on the box, which said $63.99 (see photo). When I went to check out, I learned this was a mistake -- the shoes rung up at $84.98. Finally, I have donated shoes many times and had accumulated $35 in rewards prior to this visit. Instead of being able to use all of this credit towards my purchase, I was only permitted to use three rewards at a time -- even though they are tiny ($5) and have expiration dates. This was a first for me, and while I briefly asked for clarification, I did not feel like getting into an argument with a store employee. This experience was a disappointing one. Truth be told, my last few visits at DSW locations in the Bay Area have not been good. I think the business is simply going downhill.

The cobbler was not to keen on trying to clean up and find a dye to freshen it up. So a lovely woman named Tenneil (spelling?) took it upon herself to start mixing colors and created a custom blue cream dye that turned out to be perfect! She gave me the dye, the applicator and showed me how to do it ... and all of this for free. She was amazing and understood how much I love this purse!!! Check it out... My sandal heel needed to be re-glued so I brought it in to Takkens on Marsh Street in SLO. We've…read moretaken our shoes for repairs and cleaning for decades, but the service and repair work have gone downhill. The woman handed me a ticket after I paid $10 to repair one sandal and clean the pair and said it would take a few days. I waited about a week before returning and was asked if they had called me. The sandals hadn't been touched. So I waited a few more days and returned again. The man behind the counter made me wait at the counter unnecessarily while he answered the phone and carried on a conversation, then organized the area directly behind the counter, and greeted customers coming into the shop until finally asking me for the ticket which I handed to him without delay. He gave me the pair and I walked out to my car. I looked at the heel of the sandal and noticed that it hadn't been re-glued. So I walked back into the shop and showed him the heel. He took it back and I waited for a call. No call so I came back into the shop and the leather on the heel was not aligned well. It was a sloppy job. When I pointed it out to the same man behind the counter, his answer was "well, we're not professionals. If you wanted it done professionally, you could've taken it to the Paso Robles location". His attitude dumbfounded me! Why would I expect a shoe repair shop to be capable of fixing shoes properly? As I stated,Takkens has changed and not for the best. Find another shop even if it's in another town. The staff here seem to be just sales people. Such a shame.
