Woah. This place is a hidden gem! We didn't have high expectations (because it's Asian food in Reading) but were so pleasantly surprised. The owner was super nice. He told us about the restaurant's founding story and it's community involvement. They donate meals to shelters and offer discounted lunches to low income individuals. I've been wanting to check out this place ever since I saw that the Monday special is Pani Puri. I love this app as am always on the hunt for a good pani puri. We ordered takeout since they aren't currently open for dining. This place has really great reviews so I had high hopes. I tried to call to place my order and finally got through on the 5th try. I ordered the Pani Puri, Butter Paneer, Naughty Chicken Naan and an order of naan. I have been to the Subcontinent and eaten authentic Indian food so it's hard to not have those sort of standards when ordering Indian food. They have a spice rating scale when ordering your food from 1 to 10. The naughty naan was enjoyed thoroughly. Although it was his first time trying any sort of Indian food. I was impressed with the quantity of paneer in the Butter Paneer. However, the paneer was really boring and not very flavorful. The curry butter sauce was good but it wasn't anything memorable. Rice was fluffy and not sticky but again not very flavorful. The Pani Puri was a big let down. I thought it would come with green chutney and/or a yogurt sauce but came with neither. Can't have true pani puri without this. The pani wasn't the best either. When I first opened the naan, I thought it wasn't even homemade. It surely was a very disappointing naan. Not fluffy at all which you would expect in a naan. I really want to love this place. I know that the owners really care about the community and are generous. However, I was really disappointed with my order overall and wouldn't order from here again based on my experience. read more

Really authentic South Indian food! Absolutely delicious and crave-able. The owner is extremely helpful and accommodating with allergies/preferences, and he is very friendly and kind. The owner brought small cups of chai to start the meal. I passed due to dairy restrictions, but my husband said it was delicious and brought back memories of time overseas. I had lamb stew to eat with basmati rice, spice level 3. Didn't feel spicy at all to me, just great depth of flavor! However my husband got chicken tikka masala, spice level 4, and he was surprised how spicy it was. So there is definitely a jump in levels from 3 to 4, just as an FYI! My husband also got garlic naan which he said was delicious and had a nice crispness to it. The owner gives back to the community and helps feed the homeless in the city, which is after my heart, so I am definitely inclined to give him my business! I wish I had taken a photo, but the food just smelled too good and I couldn't wait to dig in--before I knew it, it was all gone and too late to take a picture! FYI, they are currently only open for dine in on Saturdays and Sundays. Take out the rest of the week, and closed Tuesdays. Can't wait to go back! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food is amazing and very authentic. I work in New Brunswick, NJ, where there's a LOT of Indian places to choose from. This is still one of my favorites! Tikka paneer, Naughty paneer, and Spinach paneer are three staples for us. The samosas are also stellar. Keep in mind that the spicy scale from 0-10 is Indian spice, start very low to try it out if you are sensitive at all to spicy foods! As of my visit, their website stated they tried doing in-person dining but had abandoned that and were doing takeout because that's what their customers wanted. I was a traveler who drove a long way to get there, so it wasn't what I wanted, but these are strange times and I would certainly encourage them to make the best business decision for them. The takeout order that I called in included a veggie burger, an "exploding samosa" (their term for a chaat) and a chai. I think I confused them by asking for a vegan burger but allowing dairy in my samosa and chai, which is probably because I confused myself poring over their large menu. The burger pattie itself seemed a pretty standard veggie burger, but the mint sauce, veggies, and grilled pita worked. The samosa was well spiced, and there was plenty of variety in flavorings. I ordered a white chocolate chai; it's one of those things I order hoping it'll be good but expecting it might very well be a terrible flavor combination. It worked 100%; as strange as it sounds, it was probably the tastiest part of my order. The parking situation is confusing, as the neighboring Pizza Hut has signs claiming its empty parking lot, so for this Indian restaurant you're supposed to park on a gravel lot behind the place (no street parking on this street). I certainly hope they're open for in-person dining someday so I can try more food. read more

Fresh and wonderful Indian food, in the lighter healthier Southern style. Owner is so sweet and friendly and very up on veg eating as a vegetarian himself. He made us a chai with almond milk and has discovered the most wonderful tiny green eggplants, which we are obsessed with. There are many all-plant choices on the menu, clearly marked, as are the appetizers. He has recently added a whole lot more. Ones I love: the mushrooms, spinach/potato stew, and his cauliflower. The samosas are delicious too, and you get 2 for $5. I love that they play Bollywood movies in their big screen tv, no sports or news, hurray. You will be tempted to get up and dance. BYOB (I think? We were driving by looking for a place to get lunch and found Rangoli. The reviews were good, so we decided to give it a try. The service is awesome and the food is excellent! What a gem! There are lots of vegetarian options and their spicy can range from nicely flavored to really hot at your request. I had the paneer roll and cannot wait to have it again. The garlic naan is the best I have ever had. The selection of drinks has something for everyone. They currently are takeout only. They ask that you order by phone and then pick up. I was passing by the neighborhood and spotted a catchy sign and couldn't help by check it out. Nice pleasant ambience and I went for something unconventional.. I usually just get the samosa chaat or bhel puri at places like this that serve Indian street food but thought I'd try an Indian style burger. It was tasty and prepared spicy for me on a naan. The patty was not salty or too soft. I got almond chai and that was delicious as well. The owner was very engaging and we had a nice conversation. I'm very picky with my chai and this one was amazing. Rich flavor and perfect overall, a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The food was next level. The chicken dish tasted amazing as well, and I did not have any leftovers to say the least. The garlic naan was soft and had a little crunch to it as well (had great texture, this was a good thing). On top of everything, every worker was extremely kind. They followed up with me to make sure I was enjoying everything (impossible not to enjoy everything). Overall amazing customer service as well. Rangoli... you're fantastic! I bookmarked Rangoli, but have to admit that I was pretty hesitant to give it a try. I was judging the book by its cover a bit. I'm so glad I gave that up and went for it! As of June 2021, they are accepting phone-ahead take-out orders only. You pay over the phone, but I believe they have options if you don't feel comfortable doing so because they asked me if payment in advance would be acceptable. I did view their menu before calling, but everything sounded so yummy, and Indian street food is very new to me. I had no idea what to order, and I wanted to be sure I was giving Rangoli a fair try. When I called in with my questions, the employee I spoke to was polite, helpful, and upbeat. They assisted me with picking out the Naughty Paneer, level 1 spice, and I ordered their fries as well. Let me tell you, you can share those fries with 3-4 people. The spice on them is so delicious, and you'll definitely want to order a couple extra sides of the sauce they serve them with. The Naughty Paneer was Indian cheese with an Indian yogurt sauce. I ate every last crumb. If you're not vegetarian, I encourage you to try their vegetarian dishes anyway. And if you still don't love that idea, they have meat-based dishes as well! I almost ordered the Naughty Chicken instead, and I bet it's just as yummy. read more

I wish I could rate this business higher. Not only is the food fantastic, but the generosity of the owner is enough reason to give this place your business. The owner is one of the kindest people we have met, and the work he does to helpless the homeless in the area shows he also has the biggest of hearts. We ordered the tikka chicken, spinach dal, garlic naan, and porotta. Everything we ate exceeded our expectations. The naan was incredible! I could make a meal off of that alone. Don't even get me started on the tikka chicken. It was pure perfection. We ordered our food late and, because of this, they had run out of some items we wanted. The owner would not let us walk away without making sure we were given something else, and he refused to take payment for it. Additionally, he gave us free drinks, allowing us to pick whatever we wanted to try out. We went with the Mango Ringa and oh my, it was delicious! Businesses like this, run by selfless owners are truly a gem to the community they reside in. This owner is giving back to his community, and because of it, he has customers pouring in from all over to enjoy his outstanding food and help him spread some love to those who need it. I love love love coming here! The food is delicious and it's BYOB. The chicken roll is a fantastic lunch option while all the curries are amazing. My current favorite is beef and eggplant but it keeps switching as I work my way through the menu. The owners are fantastic and so accommodating. They also have a huge heart. Was quickly looking for a vegetarian restaurant in reading, PA when I came upon Rangoli. Like many restaurants today, Rangoli was carry out only. I was greeted by a friendly staff as I entered and was directed to a stack of menus. I ordered butter paneer and a side of garlic naan spicy ness of 7. I was warned that 7 is very spicy, so I retracted and ordered it 6. The staff informed me it would be a few minutes and that I could have a seat while I wait. The same staff that took my order as a courtesy, brought out the best chai tea I've ever had, and a sample of butter paneer at the spiciness that I ordered to make sure that it wasn't too spicy for me. I wish I came to this town more often do that I could eat at Rangoli again. read more

Their "heat scale" made it easy for my family to order comfortably as they're not as familiar with Indian food as I am. The food was excellent and full of flavor. I've eaten at several local / semi-local Indian reactants and in my option Rangoli is far superior. Their ingredients are fresh and you can tell everything is homemade. I usually order something with the paneer in it - which you can tell they make themselves. It's soft, and the pieces are a nice size.
