She explained that Walnut City grapes are used in several of the major brands of wines around the valley. The tasting room was setup with oyster crackers and hazelnuts set out on the the counter for us to munch on between pours, which, by the way, were generous. The hazelnuts which were awesome, were also for sale. The ambiance in the tasting room is not fancy. It's rather bare bones and cold. They had a space heater in the middle of the room for warmth. Although the wines were good, because of the lack of nice looking surroundings, cold indoor temperatures, as for the limo wine tour itinerary, this winery is not a keeper. There are too many really beautiful wineries out there with awesome wine and lovely tasting rooms.

The wines were just okay, I did like the Z'ive "Quartet", white blend (yep, with 4 different grapes) and the Walnut City Wineworks Cab, but I have been loving the Del Rio fruit lately, so I'm a little biased there (as this Cab has Del Rio goodness). This winery is located right off the road and has views all around, The service was very personable and attentive. The guy helping was knowledgeable on the wines and history of the winery. We weren't too sure what we wanted to order and he made great recommendations and allowed us to taste couple before buying. They offer food for purchase, but also saw some people bring their own food. I would definitely go again and I get the impression that many people return regularly.

I had a fantastic experience tasting here with my partner. The tasting room itself doubles as a…read morelittle artisanal goods shop-- think little wool/knit wine bags and hand-crafted birdhouses. The birdhouses in particular were absolutely lovely and added so much charm to the space. The tasting room takes walk-ins, and were greeted as soon as we entered and told we could sit anywhere. Our sommelier was absolutely delightful-- there were two women working and both were so, so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We tasted one white (a Chardonnay that I actually quite liked despite it being my least favorite white wine) and a number of reds. When they poured the various pinot noirs, they brought a second glass and had us do a side-by-side comparison. I absolutely LOVE it when tasting rooms make the effort to do this-- it really brings us the differences in the wines so you can tell what you're trying. We also tasted a red blend and a syrah. The syrah was my favorite. In the midst of us tasting the reds, the women pouring for us brought out a couple of chocolate hearts, which was really the cherry (or the chocolate) on top. It's been hard in the past couple of years to find people that offer such a wonderful experience at this price point ($20)-- especially if you're a younger person. I can truly say that this was wonderful, and we will absolutely return next time we are in the Valley.

We were wine club members for a few years but decided to cancel for a few reasons. I do like their…read morepinots, but the wine club membership just wasn't for us. For one, they charged us a flat fee for the wines ($125 for two bottles-Duet Club). Regardless of what we received we were always charged the same amount. I reached out to them as some bottles appeared to retail for less, but am still not clear on the reasoning behind this. I suppose it makes it easier from an accounting purpose, but we weren't fans of the policy. I do appreciate that our wine club membership was only 4 bottles per year. We're members of 8 OR and CA wineries and none of them have this low of a minimum purchase. The wine club membership allowed for two free tastings per visit and then each additional tasting was $30 per person. The winery is centrally located, but I personally wasn't a fan of it. Its located at a old train depot right in town. The lawn is nice, but the picnic tables and benches, where tastings occur, weren't super inviting. Inside had this old fashioned country home feel to it and it just wasn't our cup of tea. Wine events were decent, but I think we just weren't huge fans of the winery and then the flat fee for wine bottles made us decide to cancel. Worth trying their wines if you're in the area, but hard for me to recommend the wine club.

This was an odd experience. I had reserved a tasting with J'Aime a month or so ahead of time--so as…read morea visitor from the midwest, I had put it into my itinerary. The night before, I emailed to confirm--only to get, the next morning, a text from J'Aime saying that I had never followed through. We ended up talking on the phone, and this was so very weird for me because I was actually looking at the email I had sent while she was aggressively arguing that I hadn't sent it. As things developed, she conceded that she missed it (but didn't apologize for gaslighting me), and agreed--somewhat reluctantly--to meet me, as long as I could get there earlier. I got there as fast as I could, maybe 40 minutes ahead of schedule. Then, I was given a very fast tour where I was told to not ask questions, to not speak at all, to just listen to her "set piece." It's not that the "set piece" wasn't interesting--it was, in a way. But 1/3 of it was stuff I already knew, from traveling the area for a couple weeks, and 1/3 of it was stuff she presented so quickly--and clearly not wanting me to ask questions--that I couldn't fully grasp it, as I had wished. The other 1/3 was useful. At the winery itself, the wine was fine, I liked it. There was nothing so special that I felt the need to join a membership, but I did take a bottle of wine back to my Airbnb with me. And to J'Amie's credit, she did make sure that I was fully recompensated for both the tour and the tasting. This was a learning/studying trip for me. I'm a former professor; studying wine is my retirement hobby. To shut "students" down from asking questions is inimical to real learning, so I was very disappointed in this. This was one of two wineries in Oregon who insisted on forced listening, rather than engaging.

Staff all very knowledgeable and good at telling the story of the wine. A disappearing breed of the family owned vineyard. Its charm and feel ooze with comfort and tranquility in a spot above the highway. Great staff include but not limited to Marcus, Robyn and Jay recognize members by name and make it even more cozy. On this day they had a chucuterue board well stocked and rotated through the day. A selection of desserts and Portland wine. Really a more welcoming spot would be hard to find. Oh and it was Coopers birthday. The dog of the vineyard. Wines are tasty and small batch. Mostly to their loyal members. Great Pinot which are aged and ready. 2014 and 2013 are my current favorites. The 2022 is aging well. They make a white Pprt which is to die for. Our group calls it orange creamsicle port. So good. Lovely couple keeping Oregon at the front of wineries.

This was our last stop on our Sunday trip and the wine and sunset did not disappoint. Nicholas expertly guided us through our flight providing us with the story of the wine, and even treated us to a few pours of port. The peaceful Japanese design, surrounded by rolling vineyard views, made it feel like a mini escape.
