Great experience! I am usually not a fan of whites and prefer heavy reds, but even the whites were good here. Most surprising to me was the sour apple taste of the Pinot Gris. The reds also delivered, with the pinot noir on the tasting flight being particularly smooth. I tend to buy just a bottle or two when I go tasting, but I ended up buying a case here. In addition to high quality, the prices are reasonable. The best thing about this place was the atmosphere and service. When we arrived we were a bit taken aback by the building,which due to this being harvest season, had the bay open, stacks of crates covering what I think would usually be the parking lot, and a forklift and workers zooming around. However, the inside was cozy with a little fireplace and we were warmly invited by the fabulous woman pouring the wine. We only intended to stay for the tasting, but ended up enjoying chatting with the wine pourer and another customer so much that we enjoyed a few extra glasses and spent a few hours talking. The wine pourer was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and absolutely sold me on returning for their special events in the future. This is a place definitely work revisiting. read more

This was stop number one on a limo escorted wine tour and of the three stops that day, it was the best. All of the wines were above average and our hostess was welcoming and knowledgable. She explained that Walnut City grapes are used in several of the major brands of wines around the valley. The tasting room was setup with oyster crackers and hazelnuts set out on the the counter for us to munch on between pours, which, by the way, were generous. The hazelnuts which were awesome, were also for sale. The ambiance in the tasting room is not fancy. It's rather bare bones and cold. They had a space heater in the middle of the room for warmth. Although the wines were good, because of the lack of nice looking surroundings, cold indoor temperatures, as for the limo wine tour itinerary, this winery is not a keeper. There are too many really beautiful wineries out there with awesome wine and lovely tasting rooms. read more

I ended up hitting this place first on a trip to the valley for some wine tasting... I can't believe that I hadn't been there before since they are just a stone's throw from downtown McMinnville, and I have spent many a night at the Oregon Hotel... anyway, it's a cute little place, and they provide different producer's goodies. The tasting room attendant was very new, and a little nervous, I think... but regardless did a very nice job accommodating us. The wines were just okay, I did like the Z'ive "Quartet", white blend (yep, with 4 different grapes) and the Walnut City Wineworks Cab, but I have been loving the Del Rio fruit lately, so I'm a little biased there (as this Cab has Del Rio goodness). Overall, worth the trip, even though the wines were lacking just a touch. read more

We absolutely love Walnut City WineWorks. Brooke is the heart and soul of the charming, friendly tasting room but the wines are 1st class all the way and they are very reasonably priced. There are MANY wineries and tasting rooms in the Willamette Valley so it's hard to choose favorites but we always make it a priority to stop by Walnut City WineWorks to say hello to Brooke, sample some outstanding Oregon wines and experience the true warmth and hospitality of this wonderful little tasting room conveniently located in McMinnville!!! I found this thanks to my Oregon Winery Passport (highly recommend that!) I was a bit surprised when I pulled in, because it is right across from the high school. It used to be a Walnut Processing Plant. The lady pouring my wine was super sweet. Wine tasting is about the experience and not always about the wine. This wine was not my favorite but I had such good conversation. I was solo wine tasting and respected. Sometimes the people working there think it's weird. The best part though? They gave me free tasting vouchers for several other wineries in the area! I love the partnership between wineries in this area. read more

This is a place that handles multiple brands in the local area. A 'custom crush' I think is what they're generally referred to as. For what they do at the prices they are doing it, you'd be hard pressed (heh) to find much better. Their winemaker (Michael Lundeen) is young and definitely one of the up-and-comers of Oregon's wine industry. He has two of his own labels at the shop along with the others he manages. I generally preferred his wines over the others on offer, but I couldn't call anything I tasted a miss. Their 2010 Willamette Valley Chardonnay really woke up my mouth. So good and more bottles were instantly set aside. Michael mentioned that his wines will be featured at this year's International Pinot Noir Celebration. Surely an indication of the attention they deserve. He has a growers focus and a love of terroir. Definitely a place to stop and enjoy a flight of wine if you're in the McMinnville area. read more

When there is a spot that you can taste so many different styles of pinot noir from vintages to vineyards to producers. You can't really go wrong! Modest tasting fee ($5 and is refunded when you buy) That is what you will find at Walnut City WineWorks, or their tasting room is actually called WineWorks Oregon. There is no pretension here, just great structured wines in a relaxed atmosphere. Great staff, they will bend over backwards. So far its a hidden treasure, while it is found out by more people--I will miss the individual attention that you are given every time you step foot in the door. While you are there, and you are in the mood for some other urban McMinnville wineries, don't miss Panther Creek (how could you) and Eyrie (Papa Pinot) just down the road. Heater Allen is also a must visit, it is a small local brewer that can be quoted "if I am here...I am tasting beer" read more

We were out Wine Tasting with our Oregon Wine Passport and this was on the list. Looks like nothing special on the outside but it's cute and friendly on the inside. Spent the entire day wine tasting and this was our best experience. Brooke was awesome. We enjoyed some awesome wines and some great conversation with Brooke. Swung by Walnut City Wineworks in McMinnville over the weekend to taste some wines before heading over to Heater Allen brewing. As your GPS is telling you you're close, you're kind of wondering "how?". Nestled into a neighborhood is Walnut City Wineworks! It's a pretty non-descript brick building. We walked in and were the only ones there. The lady behind the counter doing the tastings said some other folks had just left.... She was very pleasant and made great conversation with my wife and I. The wine was ok. I'm definitely not a wine guy and the wines didn't do much for me. I prefer stronger, bolder flavors and these were a little on the weaker side. The tasting room was nice. The bar is probably big enough for 4-5 people comfortably. I just wish the lady doing the tastings knew more about the wine. She didn't offer much info at all about the winery or the wines but was more interested in chatting about our life. If you have the Oregon Wine Passport, it's worth getting the wine for, but other than that, wouldn't recommend too much time here. read more

I dropped in with my husband a couple weekends ago. We tried all the wines they had, we liked two enough to bring them home, but I do not think we will go out of our way to return. The tasting room in my opinion was a little musty and dark. Overall the experience was just fine. read more

We ended up coming here during their annual truffle (mushroom) pairing festival. I tried looking up their website, and unfortunately it seems to be down. They had the most amazing truffle spread bites on baguette bread. Very delicious and such an amazing treat. It was a great party to join in on. My mother bought a bottle of wine there. I wanted to look it up online - but I could not seem to find it. We ended up going to the McMinnville Art and Wine Walk for March and ran into one of our servers at a gift store who was pouring additional complimentary sips. Surprisingly, she remembered us. This place is in a warehouse type building off the main road past McMinnville, so you may have to "GPS" them if you would like to discover the place. read more

Unfortunately the girl pouring did not know a lot about the wines she was pouring or process, but they had a nice tasting that we enjoyed! Last year they held a tasting at an event. Pretty good pinot noirs and good prices. The winemaker was there and and he is a really cool guy. He is young and helpful and ready to answer any questions that you may have. They even sold buttons with is picture on them (mohawk and all)! We stopped in on this out of the way, unassuming tasting room one cool grey afternoon. We were the only customers but thanks to the young woman serving we enjoyed some very nice wines and had good conversation to go along with the tasting. Walnut City Wineworks is a gem nestled in a residential pocket of McMinnville. When my extended family was visiting from CT. we enjoyed a private barrel tasting followed by a tasting at the wine counter. Bernard Machado wines are amazing! Had a Living Social deal for tastings for 4 and a bottle of wine. After our lunch at Dundee Bistro, we headed here. There was a group from a limo tour there, and only one server. She was busy, but did a great job taking care of the group. We grabbed a table and spent a very nice, leisurely 2 hours tasting a lot of wine. She did a great job spacing the tastings a part. We especially enjoyed the Pinot Gris. I think I'd come back, especially if the winemaker was around. Very friendly and warm tasting room. read more

I always feel comfortable at this charming winery, whether they are having an event (I highly recommend, they serve fantastic snacks, and offer tasting from around 14 wines, and the price to attend an event is affordable), or I am just stopping by with friends to share the excellent wine selection with them. I like that they waive the low $5 tasting fee if you make a purchase, I love the atmosphere, and most of all the wine is top notch! read more
