Excellent coffee, good pastries, and pleasant service. Worth driving out of my way instead of getting starbucks or dunkin in the morning.

This is one of the highlights of my bi-annual trips to Beaumont. Outstanding bakery and coffee shop, highly recommended.

Raos is usually always good food, coffee & service. But I've noticed the last couple of times when I come in the evening on weekends the service lacks some. They get the order wrong, they don't seem like their functioning as a team. Overall I live Raos just disappointed when it doesn't meet my expectations. read more

I visit Raos often. They have the most awesome cakes, pies, and pastries. Also coffee that will satisfy anyone's pallet from Caramel Latte to my favorite Frozen Kona Mocha. It's a frozen mocha flavor coffee drizzled with chocolate and topped with whipped cream. Great way to cool off. Then there is the selection of gelato. They have many flavors to choose from. Rao's is the place to get breakfast and lunch. Everything from your favorite bagel to a specialty sandwich. Atmosphere is nice also. read more

Rao's is our favorite after dinner meet up spot. The tuxedo mocha is my go-to coffee but the Carmello and iced coffee are always good too. All the desserts are great but the dobasche cake is the best! The sandwiches are a great option for a quick lunch bite. The egg and olive sandwich is unique and delicious. Pick up some Rao's muffins for your office and you will be a hero for the day! read more

I have eaten Rao's Bakery desserts several times. I mainly enjoy their artistic style muffins. Took my wife here on a date, and it was here first time. She had the chocolate turtle cheese cake, and she said that it was better than Cheese Cake Factory's cheese cakes. I would have to agree with her. read more

Looking for a Mardi Gras King Cake? Well skip Rao's! Last year I bought a king cake here, blueberry cream cheese filling. But when I got the cake home and sliced into it, there was no filling. Nada. Empty cavity. Not even cinnamon! But when I brought it back, the clerks couldn't give me a replacement...it had to be "approved" by the owner. After a long wait the owner appeared, looked at the empty king cake and said, "I can't believe there was no filling in this.". Huh? Did I remove the filling? Grudgingly she finally said, "Yeah give him a new one I guess." Buy your king Misse's in Sulfur or order one from Gambino's in Nawlins. read more

This is not a bakery that does homemade. The icing on the cookies and cakes is all sugar and shortening. The sandwiches and soups make a good quick lunch but expensive. The pimento cheese, egg salad and chicken salad are all homemade amd yummy. The gelato is also yummy and I recommend that over thr other desserts. The coffee always gives me a stomachache read more

This is not a horrible place, by any means, no matter the other reviews. They do have some problems on occasion, and their food items and service are not as good as their sister location on Calder - but they are the best place for gelato. read more

Cakes are a little dry. We drop in about once a week for coffee and pastry. Nice and quite, just a good place to relax. Always have a good selection! Great staff and service. I have purchased a dozen assorted cupcakes on 2 different occasions. First time, the cupcakes were dry and unflavorful. Matter of fact, all of the cupcakes basically tasted the same. The frostings are good, especially the fudge. But the cupcakes were inedible. I thought maybe it was a fluke since I had heard such great things about them, so I tried again. Same exact experience. I will never buy any baked goods from Rao's again. To pay $36 for a dozen cupcakes and to throw them all away barely eaten is just crazy. Not to mention embarrassing when they were bought for a party. I called the second time and complained. Although the manager was friendly, she was not all apologetic and told me there was nothing they would do to rectify the situation. I suggest Nothing Bundt Cakes right down the street. They are always fresh and their customer service is amazing. read more

Sorry Beaumont, I just can't say anything too great about Rao's. Cookies taste like sugary cardboard, croissants are dry/stale (first thing in the morning), and cakes are way too sugary (yes, it's possible). I've given the place a fair chance and tried it multiple times ordering several options, never impressed. And why can't I buy a decent loaf of bread here? Seems like a staple for a bakery. read more

We won't be going back to a place that doesn't honor promises. My niece won a cake from them on a radio station but when my sister finally found out she had one on the station's website she called Rao's excited to go get Lily'a birthday cake. When she called, the manager told her No, at both locations. All those cakes and they can't honor a giveaway on a radio station. How sad for a business. read more

Don't waste your time with their cupcakes. Bought 2 today. Got home and the German chocolate cupcake was hard as a rock. Obviously not fresh! At $3 each, expected at least fresh. The other cupcake was a bit fresher but still disappointing. Should not be allowed to sell obviously old cupcakes. Beware! read more

For years I've been enjoying everything Rao's has to offer. On February 13th, myself and a coworker entered the business on Dowlen road to place an order for cake. We expected it to be busy as it was the day before Valentines. On two occasions I asked two separate workers if there were any heart shaped sugar cookies available, as we had noticed multiple customers with them on their tables as well as bunches sitting on the back counter. We were told that none were available. As my coworker continued with her cake order, an elderly customer had the same sugar cookie request and was given some off of the back counter. After witnessing this, I again asked if there were any available for sale and was told no. As my coworker finished up her order, another customer requested the sugar cookies and was told there were none available to be put into a bag(as they were out of bags) but they could be put in boxes. For this reason alone I will NEVER give my money to another Rao's business. Why they decided the other two customers were worthy of something as simple as cookies and we weren't is beyond me. read more

I love coming here ! The service is great ! They are very friendly and helpful . The restrooms were very clean . The restaurant is open and uncluttered . The coffee and pastries were wonderful . We are going to come back for lunch soon . Over all it was a great experience. read more

We were passing through town and stopped to get something sweet and a coffee but we were very disappointed. We had to explain we were from out of town and ask for a menu. The coffee we ordered we had to wait over 30 minutes for and then still had to stand and explain to the barista what was ordered because they got it wrong. Very disappointed all around read more

Their gelato isn't anything even close to authentic gelato, but, aside form the weirdly dim lighting, this is an excellent bakery. All the baked goods are terrific. read more

Went through the drive thru with a friend on 2 different occasions, and happened to have the same girl working both times. Her name is Cornay, and she was an absolute joy! The first day we got a mocha latte, a cookie with cake icing, and an eggnog latte. We waited maybe 3 minutes in total from the time we pulled up to when we pulled off. Very timely. The second day we ordered the same thing, but she informed us after checking that they were out of eggnog, and suggested a gingerbread latte instead. Im a gingerbread lover so of course i agreed. We got all of our stuff and she apologized about not informing me that they were out of eggnog beforehand, and o go along with her apology she gave us a complimentary cookie. My husband and I have been to multiple cafés in Dallas, Houston and other parts of the south, the Northwest as well as Hawaii. We love iced espresso drinks and know when they're done correctly. The staff here is on again off again. It's not really consistent as far as customer service but we think it's improving. The baristas could probably use a refresher on how to correctly make an iced espresso or brewed drink-we find them to be half of the time watered down and just syrupy sweet as if the brew or espresso has been refrigerated. However, we have recently found the Iced Cold Brew at the Dowlen store to be actually pretty good. I'd say about 7/10 times they get the order consistent. Last night, we ordered our usual 2 and the top layer of the drink was watered-down, tasted syrupy sweet and just bad. We brought it back in and a young man that originally didn't make our drinks enthusiastically remade our drinks perfectly. Usually when we've had to bring them back in we are made to feel as if "the customer ISN'T right" but last night it was different. We truly were ready to call it quits for this place, but this young man turned things around. After spending nearly $5 on a drink, you want it to be correctly made and taste good. This place needs more employees like him and to train the other not so enthusiastic staff/ baristas. Thank you for stepping it up! read more
