Does anybody like Hall and Oats? That south Philly sound seduced a lot of people with hits like Rich Girl, Out of Touch and Man-Eater! little did I know today Id have my hair cut by a native South Philly guy with classic rock blaring on the speakers overhead. Michael moved to Texas to join his brother who had been here 35 years. last year in August at the height of the pandemic and before we knew if and when there would be a vaccine, Micheal opened Rapattonis Barber Shop. Talk about taking a chance and walking out on a limb. He is still trying to build his business and I found him by accident. Im glad I did because, he's an engaging and nice guy who knows how to cut hair. During the pandemic, I didn't shave or cut my hair. Two months ago, I cut the hair but left the beard. It was time to trim the hair again and he did a great job then trimmed the beard for a fresh look. Ive been very picky on who cuts my hair over the years and always looking for the next cutter to take ove, after my current one flames out. They always seem to do a good job for 2 or 3 years then....I dont know what happens. Hopefully, I can keep Rapattoni for a while. At least till I teach him how to live in Texas! Go get a cut and tell him Guy sent you.

If you're a woman, I would not recommend this barber. This review is based on an attempt to schedule an appointment at Rapattonis Barbershop. I have been using the same barber for a long time, however I have recently moved to the Plano area and have been looking for a new barber. After a quick Apple Map search of the areas barbers, Rapattonis shop looked like a good choice with an all 5-star rating. I called the barber shop and spoke with Michael. One of the most awkward conversations I have ever had ensued. Basically, Michael made me feel like I didn't belong in his barber shop because I wasn't a man. I had to literally say, "I have a man's haircut" to get him to schedule me for a cut, after Michael asked me a series of questions about my hair. I've never had an issue like this before at a barber's shop. I have always avoided barber shops that specifically say they are for men or in some way specify that it's a man's destination. As far as I know, Rapattonis didn't specify that the shop was for men only. I feel like women that have "feminine" looking hair would not be calling a barbershop to get a haircut in the first place. I am attaching a screenshot of the appointment information. I did not show up for the appointment.

Have a handsome man in your life? Want to make him more handsome?? Make an appointment here. Michael Rapattoni gave an amazing haircut, listened to his client and make my son feel great (after a horrific cut at another place). I really can't recommend Rapattoni's high enough. Sit back, relax and listen to one of the best playlists around while getting a great cut.

Great spot. Be on time, he's booked. Will ask a lot of questions to help you get what you want. Pricey for kids, but that's upfront.

Chris was a super cool barber who got me looking sharp. Even waxed my ears (a first for me!) I'll be back.

Great little spot, make sure you schedule an appointment. They are well worth the wait. Jared is a magician with the clippers.

I am 48 years old and today I had perhaps the best haircut of my life by Kristen Elkins. She was…read morefriendly, listened to what I was asking and communicated with me throughout the cut. Today was unique as I had not had a haircut since this whole COVID-19 thing started and so she had a lot of clean-up work to do. My first haircut there, months ago was just ok. I hesitated to return but I will admit, I was desperate after 2 months of no haircut. I was frustrated by the scheduling, I was scheduled at 11:05 and finally sat in a chair at 11:40ish. I was told that there was a 'scheduling mistake' and granted, he was polite, professional and apologetic but I felt I was switched around to fit in a regular customer with another stylist but in the end, it worked out cause Kristen was amazing. I will return because of her. Quality cut and high-end experience.

Sorry but I'm going to have to give you a really bad review. When someone who's worn a military…read morehaircut for the past 40 years asks you "can you do military cuts like a high and tight?" Don't lie about it. If you can't then I'll move on. But when you wait until you're in the middle of the cut to realize you don't know what you're doing, that's not acceptable. Did you think I wouldn't notice what a mess you made of it? I was actually speechless when she turned that chair around. But I was a good sport about. I told her I didn't like it but she could just stop. I paid for it and even gave her a tip. But please know I'll never come back. Just be honest and pass up on that one haircut. It's better to not have made that $35 than to get it and a bad review.

Taking a trip down the proverbial destination known as Memory Lane can be a perilous journey. You…read moreremember the good times, obviously, but then you start to question some of your more, let's say "creative" moments as you look back on your life. Jumping off the roof of the slide in fifth grade was pretty cool until you realized there were rocks under you, and jumping into a relationship with a woman who owns a bookshelf and no books was pretty cool until you realized there was a crazy person in front of you. And I think we can all agree getting out of college before camera phones existed is proof that timing truly is everything. But then sometimes you look back on your life and ask the hard-hitting questions like, "Why did I not name names in my Yelp review of the barbershop I've been going to for more than 10 years?" By now the more astute Yelp readers have noticed a former five-star review and this new five-star review. Essentially this is an update that dares to improve upon perfection, where "perfection" is the Razor's Edge experience and not my former five-star review. (While not as bad as some of my Yelp reviews from "back in the day," it's not my favorite piece of work I've ever shared with the Internet in a desperate plea for attention.) The reason for this update is simple: following the emergence of "normalcy" as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, haircuts and barbershops are like sacred grounds in a world where we could all pass for ZZ Top stunt-doubles. That Razor's Edge has been doing what they do for years while weathering the coronarvirus storm to continue providing marvelous haircuts is a testament to the talents of everyone under this roof. A visit to Razor's Edge is akin to a social gathering. Customers are laughing and making conversation with their barbers, the woman at the desk has never met a stranger, and the team of stylists are as welcoming as they are knowledgable about cutting, trimming and other verbs related to the act of bringing sharp metal objects near clients' heads to make them look ravishing. The brightly lit interior is relaxed yet professional, with TVs periodically perched around the room and a radio tuned to a diverse mix of tunes. (I heard Def Leppard's "Animal" here one Saturday morning, and sometimes that's all you need to ensure your weekend is going to be okay.) Round it off with some awesome shoe shine services and (new!) reserved parking spots out front, and Razor's Edge certainly makes you feel special whether you're a walk-in or a regular. And speaking of regularity, I consider myself fortunate to have been blessed with the ability to visit the same barber for all this time. Brian is an excellent barber, for not only does he do an exceptional job at cutting hair, but he also manages to make me look good. My typical "style" can best be described as "struggling artist," and yet Brian makes me look awesome. My friends and family are routinely amazed at my transformation into something resembling a functioning member of society, and it's thanks to Brian's skills. I've recommended plenty of others to his chair in the corner of the barbershop, and will continue to do so. The same goes for Jerry, another skillful master who has cut my nephew's hair now for... I'd rather not say, because that's going to make me feel "ancient," and I'm just now okay with feeling "old." Suffice it to say, my nephew will be nine-years-old in a couple weeks at the time of this writing, and Jerry has never failed to make him look like a very charming and stylish young man. I begrudgingly abandoned any hope of still being "the cute one" in our family after my nephew started getting his haircut from Jerry. Such is life. Such is Razor's Edge, now that I think about it. I've only managed to talk about two of the fine stylists under this roof, but I guarantee there are hundreds of customers with equally impressive stories to share about their visits here. Be it a visit to Brian or Jerry or whomever else is available, you're in great hands as soon as you walk through the door. There will be those who feel this review is hyperbolic and exaggerated, though they probably didn't read far enough to get to this sentence. And there will be those who scoff at the pricing, to which I would offer the timeless reminder of "you get what you pay for," and whatever I've paid for here has always left me looking sharp. When all is said and done and you're going down Memory Lane, you'll have nothing but fondness for the time you spent here.
