The crew came out, and spent most of the day working on it. We thought they were done, but there were a few things that were not right, so the owner came out the following day and fixed everything, including things that were not related to the pipes. We live in a 10 year old house, never had a plumbing problem until a leak was noticed in the main bedroom water closet (tiny room with just a toilet), Premier Plumbing was called out to seek and repair this leak. It turned out to be a pex elbow in the attic/crawl space. The person sent was called Jason, and he DID NOT DO HIS JOB. Rather than fix this area correctly he pulled up on this pipe so as to get better access, did his "job" and went on his merry way. Only this caused a FURTHER leak, which did WAY more damage than was there in the first place. We figured this out the next day when the restoration for fire/water damage company came out and discovered this issue. Premier Plumbing was contacted immediately. It took 2 days with completely NO RESPONSE from ANYONE and then Jason showed up at random in the morning to address the issue. He proceeded to blame the restoration company's people for causing the further leakage and the damage it caused. He did fix the problem, that he caused, and left. The thing is we are now on the hook for $10,000 (at least) and MOST of the main bathroom, including tile floor, the cabinets and the hardwood floor in the hallway of the room is completely torn out. Originally, it only looked like it was going to be the water closet and its walls that they might have to gut. Not the whole goddamned bathroom section of the main bedroom bathroom. I recommend giving these people a hard pass! They are terrible!

Ryan gave me a quote that was significantly better than some other local companies, and was able to come out and fix it immediately. They promised they'd be there at 7am and be done by 3 the next day - and they held to their word! They came out, relined my sewer, installed a clean out, and covered up the hole by 3pm, even hauling away the big rocks they dug up. They did such a great job that I just hired them to repipe all the plumbing in my crawl space and yet again, they gave me a super reasonable bid and were 100% true to their word. This time a crew of 2 younger guys came out - they were extremely polite, got the job done in the time promised, and cleaned up and were on their way out in a day! Plumbing issues are a massive pain in the butt but these guys do live up to their names - they made the whole thing EASY. Every single employee I have interacted with from Liz in the office, Ryan giving bids, and now 3 other service guys have been amazing - super friendly and kind. This even includes the guy who came out at 7pm on a Sunday to clear the line when I first had the issue - nothing but amazing people work here. I decided to go with "Cured-In-Place Pipe" because it only requires a single hole approximately 2'x4' instead of a trench through my landscaping that would cut very big tree roots since the trench would have been within five feet of four very large trees. Replacing the pipe would also have left three feet of my old (orangeburg) pipe from curb to the city connection, unless willing to pay an additional thousand dollars for 3 more feet. Ryan and two crew members showed up at the scheduled 7 AM time and did an excellent job. Finishing around 2:30 PM after the city inspector approved the work. Ryan and his crew were professional and careful with all the landscaping. They installed a new ABS cleanout, backfilled and cleaned up the work area beautifully.

I first told them, i already contacted another company, and i didn't want to complicate things with the service... When the other company didn't reply, i called Hawthorn! They scheduled me the same day. They gave text updates. They were clear and detailed with what i needed to do, what they were going to do, and their completion details. (phone, email, and photos) Their price was very reasonable. With experiences like this, i have thought of other work i would like done, that i have been putting off. When I opened the door, both technicians looked at me up and down and asked first if it was an apartment and told me they couldn't work here, to which I asked "why tho?" And the sir replied "because you have to let property management know, who's gonna pay?" as if thinking we weren't paying? I mean that's exactly why we called you, because WE WANTED TO PAY TO FIX OUR PROBLEM. Then after telling them that we of course were paying (hello?), before even assessing the clog, payment was demanded, and they didn't start until payment was confirmed. The other guy wouldn't even acknowledge me or respond to me when I made him a direct question. I'm not calling it racism, but it very well felt like I was being racially profiled. They said it was a mainline issue and we would have to find someone else. Based on Yelp reviews we called the Plumbing Doctor and had an appointment the next day. As it turns out the basement doesn't go to the mainline but goes through an ejector tank & pump up to the mainline. It took Dave about 3 minutes to diagnose the problem as a failed pump. He basically cleared the schedule the next day, had the pump replaced and we're back in business. Communicated through the whole process. Even though dealing with sewage in our basement the job was done spotlessly with a very thorough clean up. Pricing seems very reasonable though we didn't shop around. I'll give this locally owned small business a call every time and just skip my home warranty in the future. Much less headache for a reasonable price.

Ira Hansen and Sons Plumbing lied about service rendered!…read more They claimed to have shut off the water & drained our water heater. the problem? the drain broke off the water heater, & the water main was shut off an hour prior to them getting on site. we just requested a quote for replacement. they voided the invoice when called out, but if they lie about the most simple & verifiable things, imagine how much they would lie to screw you out of as much money as possible when you're not able to validate. also fyi I replaced the water heater myself in 3 hours as a complete amateur & it cost $760 instead of the $3,300 quoted. I complained and escalated my service request specifically for Van Allen Plumbing, with whom I'd worked many times in the past. Martin arrived in less than 24 hrs and turned off hot water heater's main water and gas lines. He confirmed the 1992 unit was kaput and sent confirmation for a new hot water heater w/all code upgrades required to pass permit inspection. He drained the water heater and swept the standing water out of my garage to create a safe surface to walk on. This was very important, bc I'd just had a total hip replacement and was cautioned to avoid slippery surfaces. I'm happy to report Gabe and Roman installed a new water heater that passed City of Reno permit inspection in less time than it would've taken the other guys just come out to inspect the old one. Once again, Van Allen Plumbing came to the rescue, and I could not be happier!
