I was told they could come out between 10 AM and 12 PM for an emergency issue, and I called at 7:30 AM to confirm the appointment. However, at 9:30 AM, I received a text stating my appointment had been moved to 5-6:30 PM, which I had specifically communicated was not feasible due to the urgency of my situation. When I called to follow up, I was given false information by another employee who claimed I never had the 10-12 PM appointment, despite a text message confirming it. Their lack of honesty, professionalism, and disregard for customer needs is unacceptable. The manager also failed to return my call, citing meetings as the reason -- showing a clear lack of respect and care for clients. Overall, this business has shown a complete disregard for customer service, professionalism, and transparency. We called Hawthorne Plumbing, Heating & Cooling to inspect our AC after it stopped working. Their technician came out, did an assessment, and quoted us over $8,000 to fix the issue. When we followed up to move forward with the repair, they suddenly changed the quote to $23,000, claiming we now needed to replace both the AC unit and the furnace, even though the furnace was working perfectly fine. This massive price jump was alarming, so we decided to get a second opinion. Thankfully, we did. Another technician quickly diagnosed the actual issue: a single $10 component was broken. They replaced it quickly and the AC worked immediately. We reached out to Hawthorne to raise our concerns. They offered a half-assed apology, no explanation, and took zero formal accountability. They quietly refunded our ~$100 estimate fee, but that was the extent of it. At best, their technicians are completely incompetent and unable to diagnose basic HVAC problems. At worst, they are deliberately scamming people by upselling expensive, unnecessary work to people who may not know better, especially during a heat wave when AC repairs are urgent. ok so I tried to snake my kitchen drain myself. bought a $99 corded snake from harbor freight. I sent it down full 25ft. I did not clear the drain still totally plugged. soooo I called a company i've used for years and they came today and cleared the plug with their 60ft machine. I didn't know it but Hoffman had been sold to someone. ok. two hours $366. I consider this reasonable. Hawthorne plumbing quoted me $1200. this flat rate pricing they have gone to is unreasonable, as are they... I called hawthorne a couple three years ago and they snaked my drain from my garage to street for $59. this gives you some idea as to scope of work for a simple drain clean. They came out and installed a recirculating pump on our on-demand water heater, it gave us hot water in 30-40 seconds, definitely an improvement over the 3-1/2 minutes we were wasting water before the installation. Jeremy also fixed a leak that the previous company had left in the roof vent. Jeremy was very helpful and made sure we were comfortable with everything he was doing. Update: We are actually in Reno. We can't say enough good things about Anthony and his co-worker Nate! We had a sewer drainage issue which left us with limited water use. Basically, we couldn't use the washing machine, dishwasher, limited use of shower and toilets. Anthony spent several days, working tirelessly to find the problems, figure out a fix and then do the repairs. He was very good at communicating his plans, his status, next steps and kept us apprised on what was going on. He took lots of pictures and videos so we could see the issue with the drainpipes. They email you to get from your appointment, they will text you to confirm your appointment, and they will text you a picture of the technician that is on his way to your house. I think this is the first time I've ever had such excellent service from any sort of repair company ever. This was a second visit for a clog sink, the first company did not get it done. Nick came out and got everything in working order. He also let me know about their VIP membership that includes AC and furnace inspection as well as hot water system... I grabbed that right up. I have had bad experiences with plumbing companies over the past couple years. The technician, Anthony, was very good and initially I would have given them 5 stars. However the base for the water heater was wet from old water heater leak and they offered to rebuild the base for 850$, which is a lot, but i thought I can't expect plumbers to do construction work in a bind without paying a premium. I later discovered that the 850$ base was board cut out to fit over the existing boards. This is on top of 1600$ to replace the water heater (excluding water heater). So after paying Hawthorne Plumbing 1200.00 I payed for two bad toilets Before Hawthorne Plumbing I had no plumbing problems at my house after Hawthorne Plumbing all my pipes started clogging up from the toilets. I called ( JET PLUMBING ) they got me two new toilets they un clogged my pipes, sold me two great toilets they are very nice very intelligent great company my pluming is working wonderful again. We've been using Hawthorne plumbing since we bought our house. They have always answered the call and come out to our house to fix any issues. The technicians are always on time and very friendly. We get coupons from them in the mail which helps a little. They do the job needed and don't try add additional services we don't need. We are on septic and we have been using their product to put in the drains to help break down sludge for preventative maintenance. The technician they sent out was very nice and did a fine job capping off a water line in my kitchen for me. However, they are EXTREMELY overpriced. As a licensed electrician, I have been working with plumbers for years, and know what to expect in terms of timing and costs. The quotes they gave me for work are ridiculous, and I will definitely be finding another plumber to do the rest of the work on my house. Fool me once...I called to schedule a maintenance appointment, they gave me a 4 hour window...2 hours into that window they called to advise me they were backed up and we rescheduled. Again a 4 hour window, 3 hours and 45 minutes into that window I called to ask if they were coming because we had errands to run, they told me my four hour window was later than I had noted...I shouldn't have cancelled the appointment, I wish I had just let them show up to an empty house. I have always said "always assume you're dealing with an idiot", problem is there are a lot more idiots in the world now. read more

It was easy to schedule the appointment . The availability was for the following day which is great. The visit and identification of the problem is $59 which seems affordable. Once evaluation is done , the inspector will let you know what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix it . To save some money , I like that they honor Groupon deal (pay $24 for $60 ) toward the necessary repairs to be done. Ken arrived on time for the scheduled appointment. He is kind , nice and knowlegable. He figured out the puzzle why there were no hot water in the master bathroom shower but available hot water in the bath tub next to it. I previously wrote a glowing review because I had an amazing experience with Anthony of Hawthorne. Ah maze ing. Truly fantastic, couldn't say enough good stuff, five stars. Well gull dang it, they done graced me with one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a technician when I was in a very sticky situation. I was overseas for a month and my hot water heater went out and I needed a replacement. I attempted to schedule everything I could with a 10 hour time difference and limited access to phone and email. I needed a quote before I would okay work. I needed confidence that someone competent was going to handle this while I had such limited access. I needed the hot water fixed for my renters. Lucky for me I had someone who took some time to meet with several plumbers/technicians and I got several quotes. The Hawthorne quote was easily the most ridiculous. They combined four quotes and the replacement quote was fully 100% more expensive than their competition before they added three more quotes to it. I'm talking a "low end cheap quote" of 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS for a hot water heater replacement. I don't have time or energy to sort out your bullshit while I'm in the city / state / country. But my patience for an error of this magnitude while overseas was less than none. My only reaction was to hire their competition and regret leaving such a glowing review in the first place. Likely I won't use them again because the competition did an amazing job at a great price and didn't jerk me around by showing me a lot of sympathy for my situation.
