The person helping us was very nice & helped my stylist with questions while they kind of bounced things off of each other. I walked out $1200 more poor but hopefully will be a glam girl in a week for the next year! haha Seriously, I know my stylist loves this Hair Shop location in Hollywood and I had a great experience here now, too! I found Hair by Julianne Cho and was booked with Sumi, and I'm so glad I trusted her! Sumi was incredibly sweet, patient, and attentive throughout the entire appointment. She actually recommended a softer, wavier perm, but I kept insisting I wanted it curlier (lol). She listened to exactly what I wanted while still giving me honest professional advice, which I really appreciated. She also recommended getting a haircut beforehand, and I'm SO glad I listened. I have really thick hair with a lot of density, and she spent about 40 minutes cutting it. She didn't rush at all and was so meticulous. She removed just enough weight while keeping my length, added beautiful long layers, and gave my hair so much more movement and dimension. The perm came out exactly how I was hoping! My hair feels so much lighter, the curls are beautiful, and I'm honestly obsessed with the result. I drove about an hour from the Valley, and it was 100% worth it. Parking was easy, the salon was clean and adorable, and they even had snacks and drinks for clients. Overall such a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again. Jennifer agreed to accommodate me and even stayed after hours to work on me. She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). Jennifer cut the width of the extensions and replaced them at the most natural position for my head shape, and blended everything together seamlessly. Jennifer, you are amazing!!! Thank you so much. I came to Salon De Freya about a month ago and posted my most recent review late...but I wanted to…read moreshare an update on the touch ups that I did today with my hairstylist Tei! :) I came in to do the scalp treatment again as well as do touch ups on my current hair extensions since they faded out a bit into a silver color. The salon and Tei did a great job with my extensions by adjusting it to be a bit lower in my hair so that it does not show the top of the extensions as well as gave me a similar but super cute new shade of purple which is a little darker! I loved the subtle look and I got to still keep my extensions and utilize them longer which was super sweet and nice! The styling of curling my hair and up keeping my layers also made my experience great once again! As usual, the scalp treatment is something I am still getting used to but I definitely would recommend it! Doing it for the second time, I felt so clean and fresh and it almost felt like my hair was not only shiny but strong as well as light in a way even with the added extensions! The staff there are all so accommodating and provided the services efficiently as well as with lots of love and care! When I came into the salon I was very hesitant doing these new treatments as well as trying hair extensions and deciding to take their suggestion on letting my original black hair heal properly and stronger (as I mentioned in my last review) and I don't regret it at all! I've been going to Beki for I-tip extensions over the past 9 months. She's always been kind,…read moreaccommodating, and genuinely sweet- she even helped me out last minute after a bad haircut earlier this year, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, I've had ongoing issues with the quality and installation of the extensions. I was told the hair was high-quality European hair and sourced from the same supplier that top salons use, but in my experience, it didn't seem to be. The extensions tangled constantly, felt extremely dry and brittle, and were always breaking off even with daily moisturizing and careful maintenance. They also didn't hold styling for more than 24 hours. I often had to detangle them multiple times a day, and they became so matted after one event that I had to remove them myself after a hired hair stylist couldn't even detangle them. Each new batch of hair and install cost $1,500+, and I went roughly every 6-8 weeks for a $500+ move-up. I was replacing the extensions every 18-24 weeks, which I now realize is much more frequent than high-quality extensions should require. The beads were not installed in uniform rows- they were placed randomly across my scalp, including on the crown, which made them visible and limited how I could wear my hair. I went to another stylist for a second opinion, and she pointed out that the hair had 3-4 inches of split ends even though it was only about a month old. She also mentioned that the strands looked much thicker than my natural fine hair and might not actually be Remy or cuticle-intact. I also had ongoing color match issues. The sets were consistently too light and warm for my natural tone, which was especially noticeable on camera (my job requires me to be on camera frequently). To compensate, I had to repeatedly dye and tone my own hair to match the extensions. I eventually paid for professional toning because the warmth and lightness still didn't match. I don't believe Beki is intentionally misleading anyone- she's a lovely person and I think she means well. But I do feel the hair quality, color matching, and installation methods weren't worth the cost, especially considering how quickly the extensions deteriorated. I'm sharing this to help others make an informed decision. I wish Beki all the best and hope she looks into improving the quality of the hair she sources and the installation and color matching process, because her kindness and customer care deserve to be matched by better results.
