This doctor is a no-non-sense and straight to the point.

Dangerous! Stay away. If you don't believe me ask the doctor directly how many times he's been sued for malpractice

His medical assistant was also amazing (I wish I remembered her name!). Amy, the surgery scheduler, was also so helpful when I had trouble making a cast change appointment. One of the front desk women, on the other hand, acted like me walking in was ruining her day, which wasn't the warmest welcome (I had been in the office twice so that was strange). THANKFULLY, everything else about this office has been wonderful. The absolute standouts for me have been the cast techs, Lisette and Vince. It's always a pleasure to see them! They're knowledgeable, friendly, and make the whole process stress free. I've had my cast changed three times now and each visit has been smooth and even enjoyable thanks to them! They truly go above a beyond, and I can't recommend them enough! Definitely recommend :) Update 9/3/25: I finally got my cast off and transitioned into a brace. Vince and Lisette were just as excited as I was to see it come off, which made the experience even better. Ariel is the medical assistant's name! She was, once again, amazing, Dr. Auerbach continues to be great, and the X-ray team made everything smooth. Still highly recommend this office!

Today I had a TERRIBLE experience with his office staff though. I explained when I checked in that my car just broke down so a friend had dropped me off and would be waiting for me. I asked if Dr. Bachner appoints were on time or if he was running behind. I was told that he was on time. 55 minutes after my scheduled appointment, I asked her if she could see as to when I would be seen by Dr. Bachner. She said that she would see how much longer I would need to wait. Another 10 minutes goes by so, and still no answer. I went to the front desk to re-schedule my appointment. Another office staff (sorry I didn't get their names), said that Dr. Bachner is a "speciality doctor" and appointments are usually 1 to 1/2 hours AFTER your scheduled appointment time. I told her that I asked in the beginning of my appointment the expected wait time was. She replied RUDELY that they do know what happens in the back part of the office with Dr. Bachner's and his patients. Then why was I told when I checked in he was running appointment on time? She didn't have an answer for that. Since when is the patient's time not valuable? I left work early today just to make my appointment ON TIME. I asked if they could have Dr. Bachner call me. The rude office staff said he doesn't do that. This is such terrible customer service when the office staff, feel it's okay to wait 1 to 1 1/2 hours to see Dr. Bachner after your scheduled appointment time. I posting this for Dr. Bachner to see in hopes that he'll do something to change the wait time and make him aware of the lack of professionalism with his front office staff.

If you only knew how many years I feared the idea of having needles being stuck into my skin, but…read moreyet, people swear by this ancient Chinese method of pain relief. What finally pushed me beyond my fear was when my husband was having lower hip/back pain... nothing else worked... he presented to Dr. Gu on a friend's recommendation, and I witnessed a miracle. He came home a new person. He was back to himself. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes... so I knew I had to overcome my fears and give this acupuncture a try !! My issues were/are much more chronic than his were. His were more acute. That being said, it "shouldn't" matter, but I honestly think that it does. I've been battling upper and lower back issues for years, some days worse than others, but in very recent years, most days are bad. After being gently poked with needles (felt like a very slight little "pinch" but nothing bad) in both my cervical and lumbar spine regions, and after laying there 30 minutes in a quiet, reclined position, and after a 3-5 minute massage, I walked out .... no different than when I had walked in. Hmmm. I had the same symptoms as before I had the treatment. My husband said that many don't take to it the first time out, so he convinced me to give it another try. I went back a week later. We did the same thing. Again, I walked out with no apparent relief. My husband again mentioned that it can take upwards of 5 different treatments, but at $150 for the first time, and $90 for each subsequent treatment, well, I didn't want to keep doing that just to find no relief. Maybe the 3rd time would have worked, maybe the 4th, but I wasn't in any mood to find out. Plus, I have since read that there are "some" people out there who just don't respond to any form of acupuncture...... guess what, I think I'm one of them. I really want to award all 5 stars because I, in NO way, attribute this failure to Dr. Gu. I guess the 3 stars award is simply because it didn't help me, so it's not so much for Dr. Gu as it is for acupuncture in general. I think that me and my chronically inflamed back muscles are the problem... NOT HIM. He seems like a very knowledgeable doctor of acupuncture, and I'm still so grateful he helped my husband. Perhaps I will return some day. I know this works...... just not on ME so far.
