Upping my review to 4 stars! I've been enjoying take out from Rasoi a lot during the pandemic, and their food is delicious! The previous over salting I experienced with their buffet has completely resolved. A close friend of mine with a lot of knowledge of Indian cuisine has described their chicken tikka masala as the best in the city! Based on food alone I would give 5 stars, but the process of ordering can be difficult and takes away from the overall experience. Be aware that the restaurant is actually closed in mondays and often don't start taking phone calls until 5:30pm despite what their website and google says! read more

I got hot chicken Biryani and hot chicken marsala. It was lit so only take hot if you got some tolerance lol Biryani was super good, chicken could have been a bit greasy with gravy but their pieces were a bit dry. Overall a good Indian restaurant, it took about 20ish min for food to get ready. Restaurant is not dining at the moment, you might see chairs and table seating like it's closed but restaurant is open. read more

This is a good, steady, reliable delivery option on nights when we aren't up for cooking. I won't say it's the absolute best Indian you'll ever have, but Rasoi has never disappointed us. Go-tos are the tikka masala, chicken korma, lamb rogan josh, mattar paneer, and vegetable pakora. Rasoi also does a good job of offering varying level of spices. I like things hot and my fiancé likes things mild. They do well to make sure the spice level is exactly what you ask for, which we both appreciate. There are a lot of Indian options in town, but Rasoi hits all the right notes -- and does so consistently. read more

Take Out Only. Wish they had a sign outside. Huge restaurant listed as a buffet on Yelp yet it's take out only. What a joke. Maybe the food is good, maybe not. I wouldn't know. Apparently I'm on an Indian buffet roll, because this is my 2nd Indian buffet in the past 7 days! I came here with friends and my hubby on a Saturday for lunch. There was no wait at all and we were seated right away. The decor is bright, airy and cheery with canary-yellow walls, and the bathrooms were really nice, with tiled walls and automatic toilets (I'm the weird type of person that sometimes judges a restaurant by the ladies' restroom). It's definitely one of the most classy Indian restaurants I've ever been to, and has a great location in the Central West End. I was happily surprised by the large variety of dishes to choose from. I started out with a bit of everything on my plate in my typical buffet-strategy and then went back for 2nds and 3rds of my favorites. I especially loved the fish curry, cabbage (who knew cabbage could taste so good??), and the "chicken 65" curry. My husband went back 3 times for more chicken 65. If you like spicy food, as in, SPICY spicy, this is the place to go! My mouth was on fire and I drank 4 glasses of water between bites of the chicken tikka masala to wait for the watery-eyes-stinging-numb-tongue feeling to subside. A little too spicy when I didn't expect it, but that's only because I'm a bit of a wimp in spicy-tolerance (I always order "white spicy level" at Asian restaurants). For dessert, the mango creme brulee was wonderfully sweet and creamy with a crisp carmelized top layer that felt soothing to my still-burning tongue. read more

After reading reviews from fellow Yelpers, I told Majordomo that they have a lunch buffet that has been getting good ratings. The restaurant was crowded and after waiting a short time, we were seated. I wish I could tell you all the names of the dishes I tried, but they had such very complicated names that I cannot remember. Suffice it to say, everything I tried was delicious. The chicken Marsala was good as was every dish I tried. They also have a small salad bar and a dessert that I thought was rice pudding. It was very sweet. Majordomo thought everything was very good. The food is good, but much spicier than many other Indian restaurants. My suggestion: eat here, but be sure to preemptively note your spiciness comfort level. Typically, if food is spicy enough to cause a runny nose, I'd expect to be asked what level of spicy. In any case, now I know. This has become my go to dinner spot since COVID, mainly because of the ease of their online or phone ordering, easy minimal contact pick up, and delicious food that taste as good for carry out as it does from when I remember eating in the restaurant. Easily online ordering through many second party apps but also their website. I personally prefer ordering the phone and the staff is very quick to take the order. Pick up usually within 30 mins to an hour. I always get lamb tikka masala with garlic naan. Have not been disappointed once. The lamb is always tender and the tikka masala perfectly spiced and hot even when i pick it up and drive 15-20 minutes to get home (could have to do with the fact that they wrap it in saran wrap to avoid spillage). The garlic naan has yet to disappoint me. Somehow perfectly crispy on the edges and soft and flaky in the center. Great pairing of two of my favorite indian dishes. Pick up is easy with minimal contact option and limited interaction with other patrons. Helps me to feel safe. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but make sure you give it a try. I have been 3 times and have not been disappointed. My favorite dishes are the Chicken Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala with a side of garlic cheese naan bread and raita (yogurt sauce). My friend tried the Tandoori Chicken, which was dry. However, the waiter did warn her and that is a result of how it is cooked. My sister tried the Vindaloo, which she loved. It has potatoes in it and was very spicy. The service was terrible. The people were not accommodating at all for people that are vegetarian. They were very disrespectful and dismissive towards my family and I. The food is mediocre and the service is even worse. If I could give them zero stars I would. They blatantly said that our money didn't matter to them and that they've been in business for 25 years. This was the first Indian place I tried in St. Louis. I really enjoyed it and the portion sizes are huge. The lunch option where you can get multiple little dishes with rice and naan was also great. My favorite dishes definitely have to be the saag paneer and the chole. I love how spicy the food is, but sometimes it can get a little oily. However, when you get food from here it would probably last you for at least 3 to 4 meals. So happy it's close to the hospital! read more

I got the food for takeout, and it was pretty average. The vegetable pakori was quite good, but since it was takeout, it was a little bit soggy and not as crispy as I hoped it would be. *This review is strictly based on their lunch buffet* Indian food, after Asian, is one of my favorite cuisines in the world. So, living in the Central West End (CWE) area, I wanted somewhere to go for lamb curry that wasn't a 20 minute drive away. Lo and behold... I still have dreams about what I ate. Out of everything, the Chicken Tikka Masala was the gem of my plate. I went back for it three times (don't judge). Also, both rices were hot and soft, the curries were heavenly, and the Naan bread was warm and buttery. My thoughts on all buffets were even though they have large selections all the food taste just about average at best. Not the case here, which actually might be the reason why their buffet menu is not as large as one would expect. Quality over quantity I suppose. They also had this metal pot full of "Gulab Jamun" which are like donut balls and are spongy from being soaked in syrup. They kind of remind me of the Mexican dessert 'flan,' but in a ball form. Either way, they're delicious. In addition to serving a solid Indian buffet the inside is super clean and stylish which offers a great dining experience.Although, I suggest coming for the lunch buffet if you're looking for something a little off the beaten path (i.e. Lobster Dosa, Seekh Kabab, etc) than I suggest visiting during dinner time when they have their full menu. read more

This is a review of a to-go order so I can't review a full experience of dining here. I walked in and ordered at the bar. The gentleman that greeted me was extremely nice. He took my order and offered me a beverage during my wait. The food did not take long, actually perfect timing as I was able to finish my beer and pay for my food just as it came out. Unfortunately, that was the best of my experience. The food was average. The Naan bread was the best thing we ordered. I had expected much better from reviews and a few good comments from friends. The tikka masala was so rich and sweet it was almost not edible. My chicken curry was flavor-less. After visiting Rasoi multiple times over the past ten years, I have been pleaa saintly supposed over the past 6 months as to how much it has improved! No longer is it tthe bland Indian fOod that was a simply convenient however it is really something to go out of the way to eat! We love each of the vegetarian dishes with our favourite being the makhani dal. The breads aree soft and well seasoned while the soups are a nice spicy kick to the meal. Well because of that line, I tried another restaurant close that was fabulous so definitely a win! I went to Rasoi and was pleasantly surprised that they had a weekend buffet. Note to international restaurants- buffets are GREAT even on weekends! Don't just think about weekday lunch crowds! It gives us an opportunity to try a variety of your dishes and get in and out. You don't have to worry about a long wait to eat and only eat what you want so no to go containers to lug around. So this place got 5 stars just for being smart enough to have a buffet on the weekend. I had tiki masala, biryani rice,,naan, galub jamun, kheer, salad, tandoori chicken, curry beef, vegetable pankora and they had some other dishes as well that were good that I just don't remember. Used to order from here a number of times--the food was ok. In STL, there's not much in the way of South Asian food so there seems to be minimal pressure on the restaurant to maintain the quality of their food. Ordered for delivery from the store today--the order was more than two hours late. Upon calling them, they passed off the blame on Grubhub [GrubHub meanwhile insists that they were in communication with the restaurant and I had been on hold with a GH agent while they apparently called the restaurant earlier; either GH or the restaurant is being dishonest and I've included an additional star on the off-chance that it is not the restaurant's fault] and proudly declared that their food often sits out for an hour when it comes to delivery orders. Delivery snafus happen and that's not the primary reason for this review. However, the restaurant was not at all apologetic, very defensive on the phone, and refused to cooperate in any way shape or form. I asked them if they could kindly warm up my food since it was sitting out for a while and they responded by saying I needed to place a new order. I would have appreciated just some modicum of "sorry that this is the experience" instead of the conversation devolving into a back-and-forth without any semblance of customer service. Either way, if you are thinking of ordering from here, take a big moment of hesitation because apparently they let food sit out for extended periods of time. Per the lady on the phone: it's ok that the food is out because their food is prepared fresh. If that sounds alright to you, then go for it! read more

One of the better Indian meals I've had in the U.S. Kind of surprising to find in St. Louis. Excellent service. We had a paneer appetizer that was unusual and terrific. Samosas were standard. On a recent trip to STL with a group of friends, we knew we'd have late night biryani cravings, and so we preemptively placed an order at India Rasoi and we were so glad we did! We ordered a pudina paneer (appetizer), Lucknowi chicken biryani, and a vegetable biryani. Delivery (through GrubHub) went without a hitch, even though we were ordering to our hotel and hadn't reached by the time the order was delivered. The pudina paneer had two dipping chutneys (sweet date and spicy cilantro) was perfectly marinated and grilled and was juicy and flavorful. This place deserves 12 stars. We had the dinner for two which came with way more food than we paid for and every bite was perfect and delicious. They cater the spice level to fit your palette and the desserts, despite that we were already so full, were absolutely light and refreshing. Sweet customer service and we were tended to so well.
