Does this look Shahi Paneer to anyone?

After a tiring day I placed a delivery order of my usual Entrée of Shahi Paneer today and I was very disappointed by the food. Their customer service has always been bad and today it went over the top leading me to leave this review. The Shahi Paneer was looking very different from last several times I ordered from them. It was having crushed / shredded cheese instead of of cheese cubes. So I called the store. The owner confirmed to me that that the Shahi Paneer should have cheese cubes. The owner was not willing to offer me a refund or send the correct item since it was a delivery order. She showed a lot of disbelief and wanted me to come back to the store for verification of the item. Alert !! Do not eat here.

They should know what they're offering

I want to be clear that this was a customer service issue. Not the food, I did enjoy the food. I ordered through Uber Eats, and yes I did send an inquiry to them also. I read the reviews of Rasoi and got excited people seemed to like the food overall, and they had a special through Postmates which is ran by Uber. Right on the site, it said, buy one get one free, good deal, right? Well I put in 2 thinking I needed to cover the quantity, then it charged double so I went back and edited it to one. I ordered both of the buy one get one items. Only to get my order and get none of the "free" items. So I called to inquire, and was asked if it was Uber Eats, I said yes, she was irritated and said if it says one, you get one. Well, I asked don't you know you're running the special? People are mentioning it on Yelp, so you must know? It's your restaurant after all. At best they could have called to check. Maybe I should have went back and put in two, and seen if they did a final adjustment. Or, next to the buy one get one free, mention you must enter two. I know this might be an Uber thing. However, I still maintain, they know what the special is, and that the order came from Uber and is advertised that way, because people are order it and have received it. It's not as if the order dropped out of the sky. Instead, she raised her voice at me stating that it was from Uber. I get it, Uber takes a cut and I usually order directly so the business doesn't lose money, but it was an attractive special so I thought they're trying to get some business. I may have skipped trying the place if it weren't for the special. Now I won't go back because of the way they handled it. It's really too bad, because this place is a walk away from my STL place and I love Indian food. I guess I'll get my fix when I'm in Chicago.

Have to be honest here, wasn't very impressed with the food on my recent visit. Got a few dishes for takeout: 1) Chicken Tikka Masala (2/5), not sure if this was an off day but the chicken (especially the larger pieces) were extremely dry. 2) Chicken Makhani (3.5/5), this was much better than the Tikka in terms of the chicken quality. While still not super juicy, it was much less dry than the other dish. The masala was a little on the sweet side for my taste 3) Onion Naan (4/5), kind of expensive for just one piece of naan ($4) but it was tasty. Wish there were even more onions in it. 4) Vegetable Pakora, fried vegetable fritters, pretty good flavor, would taste best fresh out of the fryer I'm sure. Good value at $5. 4) rice was well done, no complaints there Overall, would not order the tikka masala again, but would consider chicken Makani again if I was in the mood for Indian food. This place is decent for STL standards but not nearly as good as places known for good Indian cuisine such as the Bay Area in California.

    Palak Paneer and Garlic Naan

there are not enough words in the human language to tell you how delicious this was. the girl naan was phenomenal, the perfect flakey yet doughy texture, packed to the 10s with garlic. I usually go for saag when ordering Indian food but I def have a new favorite. the palak paneer was so incredible. it was creamy, hearty, loved the crunch of the peas. my mouth is watering thinking about it. heaven

Naan, veg samosas, tikka masala, chutneys
    McKena S.

Okay, I'm between three and four stars because a couple things went wrong but we will get to that in a second. We ordered vegetable samosas which included two chutneys, mango chutney, roti, and chicken tikka masala. First, I want to start with the good. Rasoi was doing an INSANE deal on Postmates offering buy 1, get 1 free of the chicken tikka masala and veg samosas. The veg samosas were SO good and the chutneys that came with it were awesome. Generous portions too! I loved both chutneys. I tried the mango chutney but it was a bit too sweet for me. My partner loved it though. The naan (lol they did not send us roti like we ordered) was really delicious. Perfectly moist and large portions, but I wish it was roti. The chicken in the tikka masala was great and a generous portion. I have had some seriously bad chicken at different Indian restaurants in the area so this was refreshing. OK so the bad. Well, like I mentioned before, we got naan instead of roti. Also, the tikka masala was SO sweet. I have no idea if this was intentional or not but I had a lot of trouble eating it. I'm hoping I can doctor it a bit to salvage it but I don't have high hopes. I'm pretty sad the main dish was almost inedible. I definitely want to come back and try different dishes becuase of how great the naan and veg samosas were, just hoping for less sweet dishes next time.

Amidst the COVID crisis, I had to grab some take-out from Rasoi as opposed to dining it. I've been here before and it's my go-to Indian food place here in St. Louis. Of course it doesn't beat my momma's food but can't imagine I'd find a place that does. The food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering. My favorite dish is the lamb biriyani and I make it extra spicy. It comes with a side of yogurt that complements the dish well. The biriyani is flavored very well and the lamb rips apart easily. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking to satisfy your Indian food craving!

Lunch special with Palak Paneer and Channa Masala
    Jessica G.

India Rasoi is great! Although we haven't had a chance to try the buffet, we have had two meals. The staple for American Indian for us is always the Chicken Tikka Masala. We have gotten it each time. While not an original Indian dish, it is delicious at India Rasoi. Probably the best version of the dish. It is thick and creamy with a hint of smokiness in the sauce. On This trip we tried the Chicken Tikka Masala which comes with rice, and the lunch special with the Channa Masala and Palak Paneer which comes with rice and naan. We also ordered the Veggie Samosas and an extra naan. As mentioned, the Tikka was great! We selected the medium spice and would like to try the hot level next. It wasn't as spicy as expected. The other dishes were also great: Palak Paneer - The spinach in the Palak was creamy and flavorful! Definitely worth a try! The paneer was, however, a bit larger than I usually enjoy (more of a personal preference). Channa Masala - This was great! I love the chickpeas and the spices were bold but not too strong. Basmati rice and naan - Delicious too! Very simple in flavor but perfect substance to mix the food. The naan thickness was different but awesome. It was thicker than some other places and delish! Samosas - The pastry dough and texture were excellent. Good in flavor and texture. The filling was just okay. I felt like it needed something else to balance the flavor. It did come with two sauces (not sure the names of the sauces). A green sauce which went well with the samosas and added some balance and a reddish brownish sauce that was good by itself but didn't love it with the samosa. Even though these were just okay, I would still love to try the beef samosa! Overall this place was really good and recommend to try these and other dishes! Looking forward to when we can have the buffet and go back again! Quick tip - if you go for lunch you can get the lunch special for $16.00 and order two dishes with lots of rice. I think it is a good option even if you go with others, you can share and try many different dishes!

    Chicken Makhani
    Annie D.

We ordered it from DoorDash and it was our first time trying Indian food in St. Louis. It was alright. We ordered the Chicken Makhani, Chicken Malai Kebab, garlic naan, garlic cheese naan, and rosemary naan. Overall the naan was amazing! We loved all three, the cheese was really tasty and not something I've had before. The other naans were also good. The chicken kebab was delicious but we were disappointed in the flavor of the butter chicken. However, if I were wanting Indian food, I would give this place another try!

So we were seated in their barroom in the corner, surrounded by all sorts of things that the restaurant had piled on other tables that were not put away in storage as yet., such as piles of paper napkins in their plastic wrappers that came from the restaurant store, and an unused griddle, and ledgers on another table. We were assured by the owner's wife that we would not be forgotten with the churrasco service. We weren't. That was good but we still felt uncomfortable as if we were imposing, to be seated where we were, as a complete afterthought despite making a reservation on their website a few days ago. The buffet: The sides were not replenished and a lot of them were quite dried out. Many empty platters. The churrasco service: Beef sausage was good, not overcooked. Spicy beef sausage was very good. Skirt steak was cold, charred and very dry. Beef bacon was dry. Picanha was cold, tough and dry. Lamb was tender and correctly seasoned. Pineapple was not even grilled. It was covered with a thin layer of cinnamon as if to simulate grilled char on it. It was very disappointing. Filet mignon was warm, somewhat tender, but extremely salty. It was already in small pieces and these scraps were seemed to have been hurriedly removed off the skewers and repositioned prior to serving us. The dessert table had many empty platters. Probably the best things that were left on there was the watermelon and a lonely mandarin orange that I rescued. The owner came by to ask us if we would join him in a glass of alcohol with passionfruit juice, but we declined, not because it wasn't good. From our memory when we were there before, that passionfruit drink that we had in the past on our last patronage at this restaurant, about a year ago, was spectacular. Be aware that Check comes with an added 20% gratuity tax on it. Will we ever return? You bet we won't, and we don't recommend it. It has gone beyond downhill.

TLDR: Good Food, But A Lot of Red Flags…read more I had been wanting to try Shabu Day for a while and finally made it out. The food was honestly really good -- but there is a lot this place needs to fix before I can fully recommend it. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the smell. And not in a good way. It smelled like a sewer. Not what you want when you are about to sit down and eat. It lingered the entire time we were there and was really hard to get past. The front of the restaurant looks okay at first glance. But once you sit down you start noticing things. The tables are wobbly and clearly rigged up with makeshift fixes. Extension cords are running visibly across the floor which looks bad and feels unsafe. The menus and sauce bottles were sticky -- like they had not been wiped down in a long time. Little things like that add up fast. I caught a glimpse of the back of the house and it looked grimy and dirty. That is a problem at any restaurant, but especially at a place where you are cooking your own food right at the table. The staff were not very welcoming either. They were hard to find when you needed something and did not seem very interested in making sure you were having a good time. Now here is the thing -- the food was actually fresh and delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients were good quality. That part genuinely impressed me. But for the price they are charging? The total package is just not there yet. Good food can only carry a restaurant so far. They need to clean things up -- literally -- before I come back. UPDATE: One more thing worth mentioning that I think is really important. Shabu Day is strictly all you can eat -- and that is the only option they offer. For most people that is fine. But for anyone with a medical condition that limits how much they can eat, this format is a serious problem. You are being charged full all you can eat prices for food you physically cannot consume in that quantity. That is not fair and it is not inclusive. A lot of restaurants in this space offer a la carte or smaller portion options for exactly this reason. Shabu Day should do the same. It is a simple change that would make a big difference for a lot of people and would show that they actually care about all of their customers -- not just the ones who can eat the most. Clean things up, fix the smell, train your staff to be more welcoming, and give people a fair way to order. The foundation is there. Now build on it.

I was taking an Uber from the airport to my hotel at the Hyatt at the Arch and saw the Horseshoe. I had no idea there was a Caesars property right here. I had originally planned to visit Horseshoe on the IL IN border, while I was in Chicago to use some of my F&B, but I ended up liking Chicago so much that I never made it there. So discovering this property was a very pleasant surprise. I was warned by both the concierge and some locals not to walk over. It's an easy, flat 10-minute walk, but apparently the area away from the stadium can be a little sketchy. So I decided to Uber over instead. I was expecting the worst and, honestly, was surprised by how nice the property was. The casino floor obviously isn't Vegas-sized, which is what I'm used to, but it is still a pretty good-sized casino. More importantly, it was clean, updated, and really pleasant. Definitely much nicer than I was expecting. WOW! I also liked some of the little perks. Drinks at the bar were only $4.50, typical ree coffee and soda at the dispensers. The property is attached to the Four Seasons, and I was even able to use a comp at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. (Definitely overpriced, but hey, a comp is a comp!) I also checked out the pool deck. With the muggy, hot July weather, I was surprised it wasn't busier because it's actually a beautiful space. Even if you don't use the pool, it's worth checking out. Overall, I would absolutely return. In fact, I'd consider staying here next time, assuming the rooms are not the typical rundown Caesars property rooms or if I can get a good deal at the Four Seasons, which is always top-notch. One thing I still don't understand is why Four Seasons would have a property connected to Harrah's/Caesars, but that's a question for another day!
