Masala Republic feels like a hidden gem on Wash Ave! Very roomy and inviting atmosphere, the staff was incredibly kind and patient as I took my time with the menu (many options to be had.) I had the butter chicken, garlic naan, and veggie samosa, all delicious and flavorful. Only thing I left wishing for more on was the white rice, the bowl felt a bit small but other than that I was happy with the portions and prices. Masala Republic is a new Indian restaurant that is dangerously close to my Loft. It's on the backside of Washington Avenue so don't miss it. I ordered the buffet style takeout situation. My family was thrilled. I got one of the mixed grills, the shrimp biryani, vegetable samosas, some paneer, chicken masala, a little of everything. Everything was delicious. My father was very happy. Easy access to public parking across the street, nice atmosphere but not the greatest service. I wasn't familiar with dishes on the menu but excited to try anything and everything. But the waitress didn't seem that interested in really explaining anything. Also there are no photos of the dishes in the menu so again for those of us that are new to different cuisines it would've been a better experience if the waitress had any interest in sharing some information. read more

For a quick delivery I would say it was 5 stars. I don't often give 5 stars unless I'm at the restaurant. The food was delicious and hot to very warm. The cold things were also cold. I've order from here about four times since it opened and unfortunately I feel like the quality has been going down every time. This is disappointing because I do really enjoy some of their curries! They're very flavorful. My first couple times ordering here I had very few complaints. Good portions, plenty of protein, and quick service. This time, my dish literally had two small pieces of chicken in it. It was so tough that I could barely bite it and ended up throwing out those two pieces. I searched through the dish looking for more, but that was it. I think a dish with "chicken" in the name should have more than two meager pieces. Between that and the fact that you have to buy rice separately, an $18 price point feels like a rip off. Disappointing. read more

Came back again for the 4th time and tried the special dum ka chicken for the first time. It was honestly the best Indian chicken dish I've had at a restaurant. The mutton mandhi juicy was top tier as usual. I do wish the mutton mandhi juicy was hotter in temperature and the dum ka chicken had a bit less oil but nonetheless, amazing food. St. Louis is lucky to have this restaurant. Truly better than any other Indian restaurant here. read more

The deliciousness literally put a smile on my face and put me in the best of moods. It's a little tricky to find and there weren't a whole lot of people there. That's why I wanted to write this review and do my small part to raise awareness and strongly encourage you to visit. Pathetic experience. Ordered food at 11:00 AM via DoorDash and received a notification that the order was ready at 11:33 AM. We arrived at the restaurant on time, only to find it closed. We waited for 20 minutes with no response. The two phone numbers listed on the banner did not work, and the number mentioned on the website was not answered either. This was extremely disappointing. Will never be going there again. Hours on website are not correct either. read more

Food was delicious! The butter chicken (medium) was flavorful and not bland. The vegetable korma (medium) was different than I expected, but the flavor was great! My friends got the chicken Manchurian (medium) and Gobi Manchurian (Mild). You could smell the spices on the chicken before he set in on the table. It was delicious. The Gobi had a soy and sesame flavor to it, different than the flavor of the chicken but still really good! Each dish was brought out individually, but we didn't mind the wait. Excellent sit-down restaurant within walking distance of The City Museum. Cozy booths and tasteful interior with chandeliers and warm murals. We had the butter chicken with garlic nan. Only downside I would advise is they of course do not serve alcohol. Reservations available and quite a lot of seating.
