Masala Republic is a new Indian restaurant that is dangerously close to my Loft. It's on the backside of Washington Avenue so don't miss it. I ordered the buffet style takeout situation. My family was thrilled. I got one of the mixed grills, the shrimp biryani, vegetable samosas, some paneer, chicken masala, a little of everything. Everything was delicious. My father was very happy. Service was quick and easy. I ordered online. The restaurant is very nice inside so you should check that out too.

I think this is because it's made to order and is thus fresher. There are a large variety of options available at their lunch buffet, but I still feel that the dinner is a better value as food is fresher. I feel the restaurant is very clean and staff are unobtrusive but kind the ambience is that of a typical takeaway restaurant; shabby but clean. Himalayan Yeti is my favorite Indian food in St. Louis!

Indian food is just one of those food genres that works perfectly buffet style. It's rich, so i don't need a ton of one particular thing and the way that different dishes all complement one another is simply magical to my palate. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the buffet! On to the food. The food is absolutely perfect! The pakoras were decadent, tandoori chicken was succulent, and the chicken curry was perfectly spiced. Not a single negative about my first Yeti experience. Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, wait staff was accommodating and welcoming. Couldn't ask for anything more, I was there Monday and I am ready to go back today, Friday! The ceilings are very tall, so conversations from others were not heard while dining. Our server was very nice and explained any menu items we needed further clarity on. They start you with what I called veggie straws with a chili oil dipping sauce as a complimentary starter. They serve alcohol--mostly basic cocktails at very reasonable prices. For our appetizer, we ordered Bhindi Fries, which were french fries with their signature sweet chili sauce, which I could describe as what Thai Chili Sauce tastes like. It was topped with chives and cilantro and very irresistible. For our dishes, I ordered chicken Tikka masala while my friend ordered butter chicken. They both had a drizzle of heavy cream for flair. We also ordered garlic butter parathas, which were so flaky, buttery, and heavenly I want to make some at home. It paired well dipping into our dishes or solo. The chicken in my dish was very well seasoned and the perfect amount of heat for me. Every bite I savored! I could not finish my entire meal, so I did save some for lunch the next day, and it was still amazing. We ended our night with mango lassi and definitely plan to dine here again!

Generally I'm a pretty big fan of spicy foods, so i got the lamb vindaloo. the vindaloo was one of several curries which had a three chilli icon next to it, which seemed to indicate that this dish was spicy. the dish came out fairly quickly and came with rice, and my server was pretty friendly. i also got a paratha since i haven't had any indian bread in a while i felt like the vindaloo was fine. the biggest issue i had was that i really didn't think it was spicy at all, despite the fact that this is supposed to be one of the hotter dishes on the menu. probably adjusted for american palette. another issue i had was that i didn't feel like the vindaloo/curry had much depth to it; it tasted fine but wasn't really rich and was almost a little watery. the lamb itself was okay. the standout was probably the bread, though i kind of wish there was a little more overall i thought it was fine. i thought it was actually fairly pricey for what it was: $18 curry, 5 bread, 3 tax and 4 tip comes out to $30 for just an okay lunch, so... eh. maybe i would come back but it would probably depend on how much i felt like indian and if i was in the neighborhood already

Love this place! There's dishes for everyone's palate and…read moreappetite including heat/spice levels. Our favorite shareable (that's actually an entree) is the Mango meatballs. We first tried them at a Festival of Nations and have been hooked since. They're a flavorful curry and meat dish that can be loved and enjoyed even for those not a fan of heat. One thing to note is that the curried lamb dish IS spicier than the curry chicken since the curries are prepared with different ingredients. I love the curried lamb dish almost more than the mango meatballs. The others in my party had the beef kebabs and the national dish - Qabelli Palau. Both of those were also exceptional! When you walk in, there's several steps to enter the restaurant. Then, you'll be guided up a few more stairs into the dining room and seated at a cozy table. The decor is minimal and traditional. I like how simple everything is. The focus really is on the service and the food. We're regulars here, but I'm just late to reviewing on Yelp.

We usually go as a family of 4 (all adults now; although we started to go when the kids were in high school). We love the Lamb Curry (both my sons' favorite), the Beriani, the Qabelli Palau, and Chicken Teekha Masala. The Sambosas are great starters. The chutney they serve with bbq the Naan is a family favorite. To steal a line from Frank's Red Hot Sauce "We put that sh*tuff on everything ". Finally, when we have room (and sometimes even when we don't), we get the rice pudding. The service is usually good, but not necessarily great. It's always personable and genuine; just sometimes a little slower than expected. Also the place (opened circa 2005) is showing its age a bit and needs a little TLC. It's very clean; it just needs a little refreshening in certain high traffic areas. The takeout/delivery business seemed good on the Sunday night we went there, but the in-store business was pretty quiet. However, it was one of those sub-20 degree nights, so I'm hoping that was the reason for the lack of in-person dining. Go there are experience some really great food and let's keep this gem of a locally owned restaurant in business. Based on food alone on out most recent experience, I'd rate it 5 stars; service and ambiance probably should drag it down a bit, but I'm still going with a 5-star review, because for the food and flavor it produces, it deserves a strong review and some positive energy to keep people trying this great food and supporting this local business.

Great food, service, and atmosphere!…read more This space is massive so bring in your family, friends, colleagues, and teams in for a great meal. The portions and prices are amazing. They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options too. I would say the biggest meat protein on the menu is chicken. They have great music playing and some nights have live singers playing as you eat. They have a full cocktail and liquor menu so grab a drink on the patio and enjoy some gobi and naan to snack on. I loved their kid menu options and names so grab those picky little eaters. They offer a lunch buffet on the weekends too so come and fill those bellies with healthy and tasty food. It's not all spicy but you can certainly tell the cooks to crank up that heat flavor on your dishes. The staff was one of the best parts. They all were so friendly and gave their best recommendations and pairings. They moved as a team and everyone knew what we ordered and got it out fast. This location is very accessible and the bathroom set up is top tier. They have multiple seating options and a chair or two can be easily removed for wheelchair users. The silverware was strong but not too heavy which is great for those with less muscle control or littles learning to use utensils.

We've been to a number of restaurants over the years that specialize in Indian cuisine. I had read…read moreabout Mint & Martini and added it to my list of places I want to go to. I made a reservation, but when we got there, it was so empty and toldwasn't necessary to have a reservation. We were there at 7:00 on a Saturday night and there were only eight other diners in the huge restaurant and I believe there were four outside. We were seated right away and then menus were brought over. They have an extensive cocktail/beverage menu and a separate food menu that was also rather large. We ordered our martinis and started on the food menu. We ended up ordering way too much food! I had the French Martini and do not recommend it. I had a Lemon Drop Martini after that and it was good. My husband had two Dirty Martinis and liked them. We started with the Samosa Chaat and it was good! It was actually the food we liked best. We ordered some Butter Naan but there was very little butter. We asked the server what his favorite entrees were and he mentioned one of the things I had been looking out, so I ordered it. Then he tells me one diner had complained that it was too chewy. I think he expected me to change my mind. I did not, but wish I had. I had the Lamb Roganjosh. The flavor was good, but the lamb was very chewy because it was full of fat. I have never had an Indian lamb dish that had lamb like that in it. My husband had Goat Bhutan Masala. He said it was okay. It did say it was bone-in goat, but the bones were tiny and hard to find until they were in his mouth. My husband had looked up their menu online and had seen fried jalapeños on it, but they weren't on the menu. They made some for him anyway and they were so hot, they were inedible. We were taken care of by three different people and they were all great! The space inside is huge and the patio probably doubles the seating they have inside. There were ten of us in the restaurant for a while and I think only six more came in before we left at 8:30. They are open from 11:00 AM until midnight. They have live music in Saturdays, but not the Saturday we were there. There are a some Indian restaurants in the area that we really like, so I don't think we'll be back.
