I was happy we were able to try Tumeric before they closed for dinner service. Service was fast and it wasn't busy at the time we went on a Monday midday. It's a beautiful restaurant and has a nice bar area with additional seating as well. The food had great flavor and great spice. There are seafood options for those who don't eat meat. And the naan was also very tasty! I look forward to visiting again.

I went here a bit ago with a large group of friends and thought it was great. Normally going out with a lot of people, especially around ten can be very stressful, but this place made it easy. It's so calm and has good food; really makes for a good place to eat and talk and with friends.

I haven't been to Tumeric in years due to not having a great experience but decided to try it again. We did not start off smoothly as my husband spilled his water on the table and we couldn't find anyone to assist with cleaning it up. But it got better as the night went on. Prior to going I had looked at the menu and gotten some food suggestions. I ordered the mango lassi to drink due to reviews and it was delicious. For appetizer we got the golgappa and chicken lollipops. Really liked the green sauce with the golgappa. Chicken lollipops were delicious as well. I wanted to try a dosa so the waiter suggested the truffle masala dosa and it was delicious. My parents are from Pakistan and it reminded me of something my mom makes. I was super full by this point but had to order the butter chicken. I got it extra spicy and it was delicious. Husband got the lamb chops and they were delicious as well. We ended up taking home a lot of leftovers, but they were soo good reheated. The restaurant itself is a little funky when you first walk in. The place to wait is pretty tiny. The restaurant itself is spacious with lots of tables and a large bar. I will def go again and try some more food!

We were recommended this place by some friends and were not disappointed! The menu has sooo many options and lots of vegan/vegetarian choices too which is amazing. They had some different options than just the basics I usually get from most Indian places so we ordered quite a few things. Everything came out pretty fast and was super flavorful and delicious. The presentation was so pretty too and seemed like all the food and drinks had care and time put into it. Our server was great as well (Umesh) he was really attentive and provided great service through the whole dining experience. Definitely a hidden gem and will be returning!

Good experience overall. The service and ambience were really nice and made the place comfortable to dine in. The food was tasty and mildly spiced, which I liked

It's a solid 5 for me because even tho their a.c is down, their food tasted really good! The preparation and presentation is so beautiful. Nice and inviting ambiance. I highly recommend it! I suggest ordering extra naan because the sauce is finger licking good! Definitely coming back!

Great Indian restaurant, especially if you love spicy food! Love the chill music vibes and atmosphere inside. Even though it was a Thursday night, the restaurant was quite busy (which is always a good sign!). We had a reservation and the service was pretty fast. - Pineapple Mojito: 8/10 on the sweeter side, but not too sweet or strong - Chicken Lollipop: 9/10 absolutely yummy, melts in you - Tanjore Lamb Chop Masala: 9/10 yummy as well, comes with a lot of masala that can be paired with naan or rice - Garlic Naan: 10/10 soft, fresh, perfect amount of garlic, delicious! - Tiger Shrimp Biryani: 9/10 on the spicier side, came out fresh and soft - Double Ka Meeta: 6/10 alright, but not my favorite bread pudding

Grace Meat + Three is a known quantity here in the STL, to the point where I had to check and see…read moreif I'd ever reviewed it. I've been there once or twice over the years, and I've eaten from the food truck once or twice. The fried chicken is fine but kinda underwhelming. It's good, but not to the point where it justifies the price. It's served on a metal tray, on a piece of wax paper, as if it were premium Texas barbecue, but at the end of the day, it's not barbecue. It's just fried chicken. The dirty little secret of fried chicken is that it's not especially hard to make decent-quality fried chicken. They sell it at gas stations, in grocery stores. Popeyes employees lacking in basic life skills, whom you wouldn't trust to make a cup of coffee, routinely crank out a product as good as anything else you can get in a restaurant. Not that I'm complaining. I love Grace! It's where I go when my "bad" cholesterol is too low and the balance in my checking account is too high. I'm at a problematic and yet gratifying state of equlibrium after yesterday's visit. I already kinda knew that I wasn't going to bother with the chicken, but I could hardly read the menu. I almost went with a half-chicken just to avoid having to squint. They've got one of those backlit screens, like at a McDonald's (where everyone just uses the kiosk now anyway), but with worse fonts and less line-spacing. I'm sure they paid a premium for it back in '06 or whatever. Everything in this place is peak stomp clap-era millennial optimism, from back when guys were dressing as lumberjacks. Of course there's a random, incongruous smash burger on the menu. They may or may not be playing Mumford & Sons on the Muzak. I figured the chicken sandwich, called the OG Crispy, would be a good opportunity to compare it to the famous chicken sandwich at the aforementioned Popeyes. Also, it comes with fries, which spared me from having to take out a loan on my house to purchase them a la carte. At $16 (I think), it'll definitely run you, but in general, the prices here seem less ridiculous than they used to. It's still entirely too much, but somehow not much more than you'd spend at a fast food restaurant. Are the fries that come with a sandwich the same size that they are if you order them separately? Supposedly, the a la carte side feeds two. I couldn't imagine two people sharing the side that comes with the OG Crispy. Someone might get cut! It was a perfectly fine size for just me. They're seasoned with some sort of blend that's heavy on the black pepper. I would have been fine with just salt, but this was no dealbreaker. The OG Crispy was great! Was it better than the chicken sandwich at Popeyes? It's hard to say. It's probably a better quality piece of chicken. Similar size. Expertly prepared: nice and crisp on the outside and not overcooked on the inside, which is key for white meat. You're given the choice of regular or hot. I of course went with the hot. I wish the sauce had more tang to it, but it was surprisingly and delightfully hot. Spicy foods in non-ethnic restaurants are so often nerfed, for children and, erm, non-ethnics. A few people at my table had the po boys, both shrimp and catfish. They looked really good, and not as skimpy as they look in some of the photos posted here. I might have to try one, once my LDL subsides and my financial situation recovers. Sandwiches might be the thing to get here. Not that you can truly go wrong with anything.

Not only were we not granted an exception on the checks as consolation for not being able to order french fries, there was no indication that this had even occurred to our server. This is precisely the level of temerity we need to inculcate in young women in our society, and I'd encourage her to apply for a job at the women's-only sports bar a few doors down if and when it ever opens. It'd be tragic if she wasn't there if and when I return, but I'd appreciate the fact that she has a greater mission. Hopefully, the deep fryer is working. It being out of commission naturally limited the number of things on the menu we could order. We were only told that we couldn't order anything that required a deep fryer, not given a modified menu or anything. I started going through each item and imagining how it might be prepared, but I couldn't muster the psychological bandwidth to continue. Hit my Cash App if you appreciate the amount of unpaid emotional labor I was compelled to contribute. It occurred to me that I might just get a burger and a side salad, but then I saw that they carry a club sandwich. I love a good club sandwich, and I figured it might make for a light, refreshing alternative, given the weather. There's an option to get a cup of soup for $1.50 extra as a side with your sandwich (no, they didn't offer to eat the charge), and I figured that might go well with my sandwich. I was kicking myself when they brought out someone else's order with the side salad. It looked really good. The Frisco Burger, or whatever they're calling it, looked good too. Meanwhile, the BBQ Beef & Cheddar Soup--the soup du jour (that's French), according to Flo--looked gross, like something your dog might cough up. But damn it was good! It was more beef than anything else. A large bowl of it might actually be too much food. (I'd still eat it, natch.) The overall flavor profile was along the lines of a good french onion soup. It was a reminder that I need to be ordering soup in restaurants more often. I wish the club sandwich was cut into little triangles and fanned out on the plate in some elaborate configuration, like at a place where rich old ladies have lunch, but I guess that wouldn't have been in keeping with the theme. Instead, it was served on the world's thickest Texas toast, with the world's dullest steak knife protruding from its center. This sounds like hyperbole, but I may have honestly been served the equivalent of half a loaf of bread. It was much more bread than I required, but at least it was fresh and delicious, as were all the other ingredients. Turkey used for sandwiches is almost never remarkable, but this was surprisingly great, as good as anything you'd get served as an entree unto itself. Nothing about this place suggests that it would have such good food, but it just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. The decor, the overall vibe and the lack of hospitality might not be for everyone, but don't let that deter you.

The Best Dining Experience We've Had in St. Louis - Hands Down…read moreMy husband and I wanted to give our dear friends who are leaving St. Louis one last unforgettable meal from their bucket list, so I immediately recommended Peno. I used to be a regular at Rosé with the same talented Chef Pepe, and his food is truly to die for. We walked in on a beautiful day and were lucky to snag a spot in their small parking lot (parking in the area isn't the easiest, but it's worth it). Our server, Harry, made the evening even better right from the start. He had such a warm, calm, professional presence--the kind that's rare these days. We instantly remembered his name thanks to a fun Harry Potter / Harry and the Hendersons reference, and he handled everything with effortless skill. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. You won't regret it. Thank you, Harry and team--you helped create a truly special send-off for our friends!

Stopped in for a late lunch. Didn't venture out to the patio, I'm sure there were lots of World…read moreCup fans out there and there were some inside. Go in on the Byrd and Barrel side of Tamm Ave Bar and place your order at the counter, get a table number and find a seat in one of the rooms. You can order drinks from the bar, but I just had water. I usually go for the Nugz but this time wanted to stay away from fried options so I got the STL salad, minus cheese and the summer sandwich also without cheese, cause I am a weirdo about cheese. We sat in the next room over at a high-top table. Our food was delivered in a timely manner by a friendly server. The STL salad was great, lots of peppadews, tomatoes, and onion. The dressing was just right, not too much and had a bright, vinegary flavor. The sandwich came on a brioche bun and it was so soft! I was happy with the sandwich, the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the avocado ranch was good. Great for a late Sunday lunch, quick and easy with good service and great food!
