I've been coming here since like 2020, unfortunately the family that owns this has now become at the age where they don't want to deal with people and don't greet customers, the last few times I've seen them annoyed with kids trying to order in groups of 3/4, you could see it in the guys body language annoyed , I myself have waited 5-8 minutes without being greeted, the wife/mom is the only good worker left, but has seen some slacking on multi-tasking as well. Mom and Pop spot I've been coming to for over a decade. Their prices are very fair. They accept debit/credit cards. I also appreciate that there's a 5% tipping option. It's a causal spot with three tables and a counter. Most orders here are to go. I will continue to come. I recommend the Hawallano. I got the Chamango it was just geeky spicy,salty, and the mango was not by them I can taste the syrup. I've tried other places in El Monte that make delicious Chamangos this is definitely the worst. I've been coming to La Hormiguita for a couple of years now. Over the years, the food and service have sadly been decreasing in quality. Even if you're the only person in the store, it'll take them longer than 15 minutes to cut a cup of fruit for you. The orders are usually incorrect and the fruit is often hard and doesn't taste fresh. Today will be the last day that I'll be going to La Hormiguita as I was surprised by a little friend in my fruit cup. Not sure if it was a off day or what but I've never had esquites. It took about 15 mins for us to get our order - the kernels itself is very hard & there's a lot of lime in the taste. Yeah the portions are huge and the price is pretty good but there's no point when it's disgusting. I've never had lime in esquites before or at least not this much. It's overpowering everything else. This was my usual raspado place, until today. The owner, older gentleman, gave me a dirty look when I walked in. I thought it was nothing at first until I was ordering. Ordered a raspado and 2 green juices, but while I was ordering he was talking to his friend who happened to walk in while I ordered. Him and his usual customer continued talking, then when my order came out so 1 raspado. He's all your orders ready and I continued to wait as he helped other customers. After he finished with everyone he looked at me and was all, yes is there anything else? I said didn't I order 2 juices, and he looked at me and said no you didn't, and turned away. And with that my business is done here. You know which place doesn't give you dirty looks, is professional and wants your business. CYBER YOGURT. This little spot is great! Not fancy - but it wouldn't feel right if it was lol. I came in specifically for this pineapple & cucumber fresca!!! blended fresh & tastes so good!!! LILY was the only one on deck holding down the shop & she was a sweetheart. My fresca was super large for only $3.50 - too bad this place is not close to where I live cuz I would be tempted to come get this drink 3-4x a week!!! If you like tamarind candies & snacks this shop is the best! All kinds of stuff to choose from that you cannot easily find other places. They had these watermelon, tamarind "dots" that were BOMB!!! This was my first time trying this place. I was craving a Raspado de Nuez for awhile now, but I've had some bad experiences. I dislike overly sweet raspados. I immediately throw them away or give them away cuz I can't stand them. I was searching all throughout yelp where was a good spot and going through reviews. Although at first this store only had 2 reviews I really wanted to check it out. Especially because it was only down the street from me. To my surprise this store was kept so neat and clean. (I've gone and seen places where they look like they need a complete big remolde along with updated menus/posters) It was very tidy. Very organize. I love that!!! The owner was nice. I think I freaked him out though cuz I started to take pictures of his store. I guess he hasn't seen a true yelper yet Lol. I should've apologized, but I seriously was too excited to try this place out My raspado was overall PERFECT!!!!! Jus $3.00 Not too sweet! It had enough flavor and lots of pecan pieces in it!!!
