I and others in my family have patronized this restaurant for most of the 30 years that I lived here through the ownership changes. I hadn't been there in a while. I ended up spontaneously taking a few family members for dinner . It wasnt at all busy, 2 other couples besides us. The food was okay- meh, but the service definitely wasn't . Our server, an older woman with blonde hair was not just unfriendly, but clearly rude and irritable. It was unmistakable and noticed by everyone at our table . It was my grandson's first visit and he was reluctant to even ask for a drink refill. Normally I'd say "oh well, she's having a bad day" , except that she was quite jovial and super friendly to the people a few booths down whom she obviously knew. Curiously, close to the end of the meal- right before handing me the check- she suddenly warmed up quite a bit, offering to top off my hot drink etc. My family never says anything negative about servers but they wondered aloud if she was thinking about her tip. $70 I could have spent somewhere else for a more enjoyable experience. So this is an updated review. My fianceé and I love coming here but this will be the last time we step foot in this place. The regular waitress wasn't there. The woman serving us is quite possibly the rudest and nastiest person I've ever had the displeasure of coming across. She was so rude and ignorant while taking our order. She audibly sighed and rolled her eyes. Maybe she doesn't like black people and interracial couples? I honestly can't think of anything else for the out right open hostility she treated me with. I had no idea this bar was a diner in the back. Not only did they provide great service to my son and myself they also were very patient with us and let us sit there while we waited for our ride. Mind you they continued refilling our bottomless cups the whole time too. The atmosphere is quaint and interesting. Very clean as well. I only suggest more items on the breakfast menu and possibly a healthy option. Egg whites. Fruit. Etc. Great place. Good food. Im glad we stopped in. read more

Don't listen to the other bad reviews. There is a reason why this place has been around since 1924. Yes sometimes the waitresses can be a B*&^# but the food is usually consistent and prices right with coupon. They are known for their famous cole slaw and the clam chowder is very good.I will be very upset if they close in August like I'm hearing. read more

Food WAS always excellent. Not now.. I never saw broiled fish swimming in butter to top of serving plate until now. Got sick from so much grease. Appears cooks don't know what they are doing. Also meatloaf was very mushy...where was the meat??? Too much breadcrumbs?? Meatloaf is not that difficult to make. Will not eat there on a Friday. Fantastic place. Went on Wednesday for the $1.00 burger. It was delicious and cooked exactly as I asked. Got a side of krinkle cut fries for $1.50 more. Beer was iced cold and reasonably priced. The best part for me is the ambiance in the bar. It is like stepping back in time to the mid 1970s with lots of dark wood. Very comfortable and relaxing environment for a burger and a few beers. Service was great. Bartender was very friendly and kept our glasses full. We will return. read more

Raub's feels like something out of a bygone era but the menu is very modern. I had the grilled meatloaf and it was among the best I've ever had- slightly crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned on the inside. The portion was so large, I have plenty for lunch tomorrow. As good as the meatloaf was, the coleslaw took the blue ribbon! Yum. The owners, John and Greg, are adorable and part of what makes this place so memorable. What a gem ! Great find....fabulous food , huge portions and great prices. Brought the whole family back after I went and we had a great time and sat all night long and ate ! the waitress did not mind at all and said they encouraged it ! Plymouth is not a destination (unless it's Kielbasa Festival weekend). Had it not been for a construction induced traffic jam on Interstate 81, this review might never have been written. Raub's is a neighborhood bar and restaurant founded in Plymouth in 1924, still going strong today under management of the founder's descendants. The décor and ambiance may not have changed since its founding, but the patrons are loyal and the food is remarkably good. The specialty of the house is lobster tail We ordered the lobster tail with butter beans (listed as lima beans on the menu), cucumber salad and fries. For dessert we had chocolate éclairs (a creation of the new pastry chef) and apple pie (from a selection of pies baked daily by the proprietor). These were all excellent, without exception. The service was courteous and prompt. The food was hot and ample and the pastries were made from scratch. The main course merited a return engagement, including the cucumber salad and fries. All in all, a pleasant experience distinct from the corporate chains by which many similar establishments have been replaced. read more

Okay, so Let me start off by saying i was having a wonderful day BEFORE coming to "Raubs" in plymouth PA. I just got out of the "Baby to be 3D" down the street with my Bestfriend and other close friend. We got awesome pictures of the beautiful new life that will be here in 4 months. Well after the appointment and of course with a pregnant mama we built up an appetite and decided to do something close. We saw signs to "Raubs" and Wednesday is "Burger day". as soon as we got in i knew we made a bad choice. we had 2 servers walk past us TWICE and not greet us. Soo as we went to seat ourselves the waitress yelled over "yeah you can sit where ever". all while people stocking the place (which id assume to be food in boxes) are slamming the door each time entering and leaving because the door doesnt have anything to stop it. as we sat down a waitress by the name of "Dawn" came over and asked what we wanted to drink. I asked for a "coke with extra lemon" she didnt say "ok" or anything so i felt the need to explain myself more "like 4 pieces, im sorry i just really love lemon" and chuckled to make the situation more comfortable but instead she she huffed and rolled her eyes and snobbly said "Oookay" like i was crazy and looked at my next friend for their drink order. after she left my 2 girlfriends were like "what was the about?!?" i felt so uncomfortable along with my friends but we all had work short as WAITRESSES and BARTENDERS we just decided to ignore it and hope for great food since the customer service was terrible. dawn then came back for our food order. my pregnant friend wanted the Wednesday special with is a cheeseburger- the ONLY modification she made was to add jalapeno and sauteed onions. again the waitress seemed more than annoyed. the food was just -ok- when it came. nothing to rave about. they serve crinkle fries that you get in a bag at any super market. when we left I left no tip and thats VERY HARD for me to do since im also a waitress and know the struggle but i would NEVER act like that. even if i was annoyed.. i would smile to the customer and complain in the back like anyone else would. Good customer service is so IMPORTANT in the food serving and restaurant business. it effects your tip and overall what the restaurant profits. because of that experience it just lost 3 possible LONG TERM customers - along with anyone who reads this post and decides instead to go to uncle bucks down the street or somewhere else where your not treated like garbage. ALL because 1 person who clearly doesn't belong in the food serving business. if you read this and still decide to go please if you get someone named "Dawn" (if not fired by then) ask for someone else. i wouldn't want anyone to be treated that same as my pregnant friend and I. The most terrible place to eat in the Wyoming valley, dirty place, terrible smells like mold. Food is awful ! Baked Potato hard , under cooked , fish was warm, sauce bitter, chairs ripped. Would not recommend this restaurant. read more
