We were driving from NC to Syracuse and stopped in this fun town. There's a lot of great history and murals as well as a gorgeous church. We ate at the tomato bar and got great food that was reasonably priced. Great vegetarian options as well.

Bistro Burger

Ordered the burger... bun was soggy, lettuce was wilted and hot, cheese was extremely salty it ruined the whole flavor of the burger itself. I couldn't even take 3 bites, do not recommend

Strawberry Mojito.

We picked a wonderful day to sit outside on the patio. NOT. It started to drizzle as we ordered drinks, so we were forced to move inside. There were several items on the menu that caught my eye. I can't eat an entire cow (even though I was VERY hungry), so I narrowed it down to two cows and told the waiter to pick one. The Sonoma Burger or Inferno Burger. Which did I get? ...Sonoma Burger. Boy was I impressed. This burger came with roasted tomato, avocado, brie, pickled onion, and lettuce. The meat was very juicy. You could tell it wasn't frozen meat. The pickled onions really made this burger. Highly impressed. I also had a trio of fries on the side, which consisted of three different types. Never saw this anywhere. Great idea. If you wanna know what kinds of fries, guess you'll have to go and find out for yourself! For dessert, we tried the Chocolate Bombe, which is chocolate genoise, white and dark chocolate mousse, and a chocolate ganache coating AND the Bread Pudding, which comes with fresh and whipped cream on the side. Both very good. Overall experience. Great service, food, and company. Btw, try the Strawberry Mojito.

Awesome addition to downtown Pittston. Very different from any other restaurant in the area. The menu is unique and the food does not disappoint. Pair the amazing food with a great beer selection and you've got a winning combination. The grilled cheese is a must try. Nice crunchy bread with a blend of cheeses and tomato. The zesty crab mac and cheese was also good and worth trying, but the crab got lost in the dish. Burgers have a great flavor and the blend of meat in the patty really makes it shine. Fries are awesome and be sure to ask for a side of the spicy ketchup which comes with the fry platter but not the dishes. Not sure why they don't automatically include it with each dish instead opting to up charge the customer for it. Still totally worth it. Hopefully more restaurants like this will start popping up with the revitalization efforts in downtown Pittston. Would love to see the city become a hot spot for dining.

This place is been in Pittston for quite some time and I've never been able to stop in for lunch or dinner. Recently I went here with some coworkers. What a great hidden gem in Pittston. First I have to say every time I've tried to come here it's always closed the tomato bar and Grill has very weird hours. This had me a little nervous because I thought the food might not be as good because they're not open all day but Man was I wrong. There are three seed options at the tomato bar and Grill The first option is you can sit inside you can also sit outside and you can sit upstairs and look out over the town The ambience inside is very nice they have a full bar. I noticed everybody from people just getting off work eating two people on dates. What I like about this place is that they do everything fresh and as homemade as possible. I ended up getting a crispy chicken sandwich which you could tell was hand breaded and it was very good. After asking the waitress what she recommended she told me that the mac & cheese is a must. I got the side of the macaroni and cheese and I was very impressed it was good and I could taste the different layers of cheese in every bite. That little bit of macaroni and cheese in the picture is enough for an entire meal. For dessert I have the double chocolate mousse. It was very good and I could tell that it was hand carved. I ended up running into somebody that I knew that was eating at the tomato bar and Grill and they told me that the menu changes quite frequently here. Overall the tomato bar and Grill is a great place to go I highly recommend it. I will definitely be back here when they are open. PROS: - great food Great atmosphere

A quick ingredient rundown - marinated tomatoes, roasted garlic, cooper sharp, romano cheese, basil & EVOO - paired with local pizza-making pedigree and you'll agree, it's a must-see...even had time for a half tray of Old Forge Red. Another staple for us is the sesame chicken bites, served on a bed of sesame chili-soaked crispy wontons. We had to add something new to the rotation, so we threw in the loaded nachos. They weren't sloppy and had nooks and crannies where toppings hid so the whole table got several hearty scoops; plus that CHEESE. It's not just the food, either, it's the layout. With plenty of space for several medium to large groups, you still never feel too distant from the action around the bar and on all the screens. The lower ceilings give it that hometown sportsbar feel that the bigger chains can't offer; this is a primetime sports viewing venue. Thorough and friendly service, as well!

This review was very mixed. We'd heard great things about this place and wanted to try a new place…read moreas we've started exhausting a lot of local places. The decor was great, the drinks were FANTASTIC, my food was about a 5 out of 10. I had the carbonara. Very oily and not creamy at all. I would have used a different blend of cheeses to make it creamier and less oily. My guess is they used Asiago. Not bad but not as great as I was expecting. My wife had the red beet salad. Shockingly a $20 salad with canned beets on it. Mediocre at best but the canned beets ruined it. If your getting a salad that features a specific vegetable wouldn't you want that vegetable to be the best highlight of the salad? That was the good part. The service I can't even explain. I'm not sure what happened because if it were like this everyday they'd be closed. We walked in downstairs and was told to sit wherever we wanted and then we were forgotten about. The bartender finally came over after my wife was looking her way for 20 minutes. Bartender apologized for forgetting about us. No waitresses anywhere. The AC I think was off because it was cooler outside on a warm muggy PA night than it was inside. The bar was about 3/4 full and there was one table seated and we noticed about 3/4 of the outdoor seating was occupied as well. Not super busy at all. We waited about 20 minutes before we were approached. We ordered water until we could got our menus and reviewed them. Water never came. Someone else came over and asked us about ordering drinks. We ordered drinks and asked about our water. Water never came. Drinks came. Then yet a different person came over a few minutes later to take our food order. We ordered water again since we were planning on drinking more. My wife's appetizer came out, meatballs. Pretty good, similar but somewhat different flavor than my Italian mothers recipe. When the app came out that person finally got us silverware, napkins and our water. Food came a little later. That's described above. During dinner we had to get up to get refills on water and were never offered additional drinks or anything. We finally stopped someone and asked for our check. My wife had to go to the bar to pay the bill. No one ever came back to the table. At one point earlier we were asked who our waitress was and we all looked at each other because 4 or maybe 5 people were at our table at some point but it was like we still couldn't get stuff we needed. My wife paid with a card she had forgotten to activate and it declined. The bartender gave her the slip and the card and never noticed or told her. She realized it at the table. We had to go back to the bar and pay again because after cleaning that one table everyone except the bartender would vanish. Finally we paid, sweating our asses off in a corner table with the most bassy sound system pounding for 2 hours we got out of there and went to a local bar for drinks. I would have loved to have enjoyed this place and loved to have had more drinks because their bar was the highlight of the experience but it was clear they didn't care about us at all. And we were sweating to death.

Service and food were quick even though the soup never came. $7 for a kids meal that consisted of all sauce on a plate with 3 raviolis. Not large ones. The generic small ones. That's something for a 2 year old. Not 10. The fries tasted and looked like they were fried multiple times. The spaghetti was so overcooked it was just mush. The chicken fingers were actually chicken patties (if you have kids you know this is an issue). I got the hot roast beef sandwich. It had a very wierd taste to it. I assumed it was the beef bc it was fatty I kept spitting it in my napkin. Then I realized it was actually the gravy. I was crossing my fingers it wasn't spoiled. I ordered a pizza for the table. Omg the sauce. It was like an extremely garlic-y (and I like garlic but this was wierd) pasty pasta sauce. It left a taste in our mouths for hours. Needless to say all of our food went in the trash. I didn't say anything. We just paid and left quietly. Not sure how to tell someone the entire meal was the worst we've ever had. Anyway, thought I'd spare someone their money if they were never there. On the positive side the interior was cute.
