    Roast beef dinner
    Ron L.

First time visit to Ravaila's. Arrived at 5:00 on a Saturday. A lot of cars in the parking lot. I took as a good sign. Once inside, I noted how the servers and hostesses were all busy clearing tables and serving guests. After a very short wait, we were seated and the hostess took our drink order. Soon our server, Alondra, appeared to take our orders. Hot turkey dinner and hot roast beef dinner with onion rings. The menu had a large variety of food and we were watching the food coming out of the kitchen. The stuffed green peppers, pizza and burgers all looked good. Soon, our dinners arrived and looking/smelling good. Shortly after receiving dinners, our server, Alondra, checked in with us to ensure we were satisfied with dinner and refilling beverages. The roast beef and turkey dinners both had a good amount food. Mashed potatoes and a lot of gravy were a good accent. After dinner, we noticed the chalkboard dessert selections of deluxe carrot cake. We asked what "deluxe" carrot cake was? She told us it's the pineapple filling. Immediately, we ordered one piece and was not disappointed. We recommend this restaurant.

We are from Ohio traveling through PA. I added a "lunch stop" to our trip and found this gem! So glad we stopped here! Everything was absolutely delicious!

    Thursday special Aglio Olio gnocchi

My first visit and it won't be my last! Delicious Italian based foods are abundant on the menu making it hard to choose just one. Also lots of fried favorites and good old fashioned comfort foods if Italian isn't your thing. We had two appetizers for the table. We chose onion rings and fried dill pickle spears. Both were very good. Although I burnt the roof of my mouth biting into the fried pickle, it was worth it. As an entree I chose the Thursday special, which was Aglio Olio gnocchis with your choice of grilled chicken or hot sausage. I chose chicken and it was delicious! My friend had it with the sausage and enjoyed it as well. The servings were generous and we took about half of it home in take out containers. Desserts are home made and we had the pistachio cheesecake. It put us over the edge! Service was very good. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. And the entire staff was very accommodating to our party of five. Decor is quaint. This isn't a place to go to be impressed with the ambiance, rather a solid dining choice because of the quality of the food and service. The restrooms were clean and smelled of bleach, which I kind of like. They are one-ers. My only complaint is that I wish they had provided a bag for the takeout boxes. My Aglio Olio leaked all over the car seat and my Italian leather handbag. Ugh!

Greetings from the quaint downtown of Blairsville, PA!

Beautifully decorated for the winter holidays, Ravaila's welcomed our large group on a weekend. The menu was varied enough to accommodate both lactose-intolerant and gluten-intolerant guests. The appetizers of course are heavy on fried carbs, such as the famous breadsticks. The cheese and chili dips were good; I thought the marinara was just okay. I also wished the house salads had come on mixed greens rather than iceberg lettuce. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, which have generous servings (e.g. two chicken breast patties). We tried the personal pizza, smothered chicken, rigatoni, haddock, and I think a Tuscan chicken. No one had room for dessert, and many people took home boxes of leftovers. Our server Jill was excellent. P.s. you have to go to the register to pay your bill.

In house food is good. Portions ok and service is friendly. However they can use some Work on their take out quality.

My wife, who's Italian, wants to take this +1 hour trip several times a year just to come here because it reminds her of the various "Mom & Pop" restaurants of her hometown in northeast PA. It sits in downtown DuBois with plenty of parking options nearby. The restaurant is good sized but it also does a lot of business so plan ahead on the weekends. The inside has a cozy/hometown feel with pictures of their family all over the walls. I don't think much has changed to the interior in those 20 years and that's okay by me. For this outing we opted for the antipasta salad, Italian wedding soup, veal parm and stuffed manicotti. Their dishes are more traditional italian (i.e. not olive garden) and they offer lunch, half, or full-sized portions. Their gravy has a good balance between sweet and savory. They also make a great fresh baked loaf of bread and they're happy to bring several to the table throughout the course. It was a special occasion so we closed out the night with their famous strawberry cheesecake. Service was excellent and the bill, with several drinks, was around $60 for 2. This is not a chain; it has character, it's not polished but it's a true gem of spot in rural PA. I'm glad places like this still exist!

Unfortunately, I found my main underwhelming--the gnocchi texture was oddly try, and the signature sauce was too sweet for my liking. But enough was promising that I'd return if passing through, I'd just order differently.

It is not just a menu item here, it is the star of the show. Everything tastes like it was made from scratch that day, because it probably was. I had the house made fettuccine and it was on another level. Perfect texture, rich sauce, and portions that actually leave you satisfied. Even the bread and appetizers felt elevated, not like an afterthought. The atmosphere hits that sweet spot too. Upscale without feeling stuffy. Great for a date night or just treating yourself to a quality meal. Service was sharp, attentive, and knew the menu inside and out. I really enjoy that the pasta is fresh and the menu isn't 40 pages long. It's straight to the point and you know what you're getting based on what is listed under the pasta shape. My short rib ricotta gnocchi was good but I do wish it had a bit more salt to bring more of the flavor to the front. The gnocchi texture was perfect and pillowy. The short rib mixed in nicely with all of the pasta and the sauce. My spouse enjoyed the cannelloni, which was pretty much their lasagna but also wanted a bit more salt. Our server was very nice and walked us through the menu options as well as told us about the seafood special for the night. The bread came out first and was delicious. The salad was also good and I don't usually like arugula. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and I enjoy that they take the time to do that. The space is very cute and you can't really miss it even with it being in an executive building. It's a smaller area but it can seat a good amount of people. We noticed they had a pasta making class so maybe next time we're in town, we can do it. The red sangria had a great balance where it wasn't too sweet. We didn't do dessert but we did enjoy the digestif at the end with limoncello and my spouse ate the amaretti cookies as I couldn't.
