Great Italian food, great service, great price and atmosphere. Rizzos is a family favorite.

A tried and true Italian restaurant. I know they have had annual Polenta Days and I always miss them . So I decided to have the polenta with spinach and mozzarella for an appetiser. It was plenty large enough to share with the whole table. It was wonderful and I had enough to take some home for lunch the next day. All their portions are generous. My Frutti Di Mare with spicy sauce was also a large portion of imported Linguine with 4-5 large shrimp, 2 large sea scallops, calamari rings and langoustines. Simply delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and her service was excellent. However, I always feel rushed when dining here. Maybe it's the time we choose to come, but I feel as if they want to move us through so they can go home. It's not relaxing to dine here but the food is good. read more

Just thinking about this place makes my mouth water. Every single time we go it's an amazing experience. I imagine that's how dining out always was some years ago. The food is authentic Italian and always filled with flavor. The drinks are top notch. We have loved in the past the holiday dinners with characters and special menus. Polka, pasta, and pure joy! We came to Rizzo's Malabar Inn for Polka Night, and let me tell you--it wasn't just dinner, it was a memory. The music was so beautiful it brought actual tears to my eyes, and my 84-year-old mother was absolutely glowing. Watching her smile, tap her foot, and soak in every note was something I'll never forget. The polka? Incredible. The food? Out of this world. Every bite was rich, comforting, and full of old-school Italian flavor. ‍ The service? Flawless. And then--Chef Bill Shockley appeared like a culinary angel. Not only is his food amazing (seriously, this man is a magician with a sauce), but he came to our table, made a fuss over my mother, and treated her like royalty. She was absolutely over the moon. THAT is customer service. Thank you for employing Bill--he is truly a gem, and his personal touch made our night unforgettable. Special shoutout as well to our fantastic server and to the two young ladies who helped me make a reservation for our party of 11. They treated me like family from the very first call--kind, accommodating, and full of that signature Rizzo's hospitality. How is it that such a large restaurant can so promptly serve up excellent food and so hot, right out of the ovens and pots! The service is as excellent as the food. We had dinner there this past Sunday and despite it being packed full, food came up immediately and the server was attentive. Today we went to a wake luncheon. Close to 70 guests. The servers Tina, Celeste and Barb were absolutely fantastic! So fast, so attentive and so nice! This is one of my favorite restaurants. I highly recommend it. read more

you can't go wrong with this Italian classic. I always prefer to sit in the bar or outside dining. It's a lot more of a casual feel for me. They have gluten-free rotini pasta and a gluten-free chicken Parm. They were also flexible to make some other things gluten-free as well. You can always plan on a good meal at Rizzo's. We sat on the upper floor which was pretty crowded on a Saturday night. Our waitress was friendly and did great considering how many tables were full. Great family atmosphere. You have to try the sweet peppers and Asiago appetizer. So good-we never skip this one. My husband also tried the hot peppers, which he loved. I got cheese ravioli and house salad with house dressing. Both were amazing. My husband had the veal and pasta. He loved it as well. read more

This is my third visit to PA and Rizzo's in particular. While everything and everyone is absolute perfection, my one request is to consider opening on Monday and Tuesday so I can visit multiple times during the same trip. Selfish of me, yup, but you can't really blame me when you produce such good food! I'm in town now and I'm waiting for them to open in a couple hours so I can make a reservation and also order a platter of braciole to take home! There is truly nothing like this in San Diego but I'm grateful that I can see my family and have an incredible meal with them at Rizzo's every year. I love Rizzo's. 2nd best brachole I've ever had. The staff is always friendly and on point. The meatball parm dinner was yummy as well as the Italian sampler. The buffet is also a go to for holiday dinners we don't fell like cooking on, and they are one of the few Italian restaurants in the area that are open on Sunday's. read more

We got here @2:30 just to see how it is only to find out they don't open until 4:00, but our server said let me see if he will let me set you. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Service is a 5X5 star in my book! They bring out a basket of bread with butter. I chose the salted caramel apple mule to try. Very good, really tastes like a caramel apple. The Christmas decorations were great. The service was basic and acceptable until it was time to get and pay the check (this seems to happen everywhere). My shrimp Alfredo was fine. The pasta and shrimp were cooked well. I liked the Alfredo sauce (just a little thick) but the presentation was really bad. How about just a little effort for a $24 entree only dish? Toss the pasta with some sauce and not just pour it on top? Maybe some fresh chopped parsley on top? I would not go out of my way to go back but wouldn't not go there to be with friends. read more

The only Italian food in Westmoreland County better than Rizzo's is the food your 100% Italian Grandma from the old country, still with a perfect accent, and who says things like "Eat! Mangiare! Mangiare!" makes on Sunday's. Long THE revered Mecca of Italian cuisine, you absolutely cannot go wrong here. There is no bad food in this restaurant. None. It's all incredibly delicious! Perfectly prepared. GENEROUS portions, friendly service, and reasonable prices combine with colorful patrons, and excellent customer service - "Table for 12 with two high chairs? No problem! Just give us 10 minutes!" For the best atmosphere, sit in the bar - aka the main dining room. It's teeming with servers slugging huge trays grinding with hot pasta dishes "Don't touch the plate - it's really hot!", bartenders slinging everything from red wine to Harvey Wall Bangers, massive groups of families celebrating, well, ANYTHING, tables of 10 lady quilters out for someone's birthday, maybe a couple of musicians playing in the corner - and food, glorious food! Don't hesitate to choose this establishment for any special, or not so special occasion. Parties larger than 2 to 4 should definitely make reservations - especially on weekends or holidays. Special holiday buffets (Mom's and Dad's Days, Easter, etc), are well worth the price. Our family absolutely loves Rizzo's! We've been there for everything from their drive through meals to dinners with Santa, st. Joseph's table, regular family dining and even had our twins first communion there. Every experience we've had has been wonderful. Even with the restaurant is packed the service has still been attentive and friendly. If there is ever an issue they are quick to remedy it. When you attend for a special event (like dinner with Santa) they have a more limited menu, but still have a selection of some tasty and popular dishes. When you come for a regular meal the menu has a lot of great choices. Favorites in our family are the lasagna and the gnocchi. The chicken parm is delicious too, but note it isn't the traditional breaded version you might see at other restaurants. Before you leave make sure you check out their shop for some goodies to take home. Don't miss the Nutella gelato! Overall a delicious place great for a variety of occasions ranging from date nights to family dinners. Highly recommend! read more

Cute little local spot :) the food wasn't really my jam, but a ton of people who live in the area love it. The main dishes all have lots of oil and/or lots of marinara sauce. Not too great of a wine selection by the glass, but the sangria is tasty and so is the aperol spritz. It was a fun atmosphere, and we got a kick out of the antipasto salad - it is hilariously huge. We got a small and I can't even imagine how big the large is. It's definitely meant to share! read more

This was our first time here, at the suggestion of a lot of our friends. We were very impressed with everything here! The staff were very friendly, and worked to get us a table even though we did not have a reservation. The place was very clean, and you can tell there is effort taken to "take care of the place". Our service was great, as well! For appetizers, we tried their fried zucchini and the Garlic Bread with Cheese. Loved the zucchini, and loved the horseradish sauce that came with it! I probably wouldn't get the garlic bread again, it was "okay". There was nothing wrong with it, just wasn't anything "special". Plus, they give you a very large basket of great fresh bread. For dinners, we tried the Veal Parm and a Large Spaghetti. Loved them both! For dessert--Tiramisu. Yum! Loved the cute little store they had selling other goodies and treats. A student worker was talking with us at our table and the manager Sean came over and said he did not mean to be rude but he reprimanded the young lady in front of everyone. We are customers that have had many lifetime events there over 50 years time and had just came from a funeral and the young lady was talking with us. Yes she may have been there a little longer than expected but he should have called her aside to the back of the house. He made us feel unappreciated as a customer and he was at your desk when we arrived. He is not friendly. Bring back Chick at the helm. At least you felt welcomed when you walked in. If you're local to the area, chances are you've dined at Rizzo's. This is a place that my grandparents and parents have absolutely loved so I've dined here for quite a few occasions over the years. I always thought that the apps were the best part of the meal and never really got all the hype about this place. Enter the pandemic. The COVID restrictions allowed me to renew my appreciation for Rizzo's. While many restaurants struggled to switch to takeout only, Rizzo's raised the bar. Each evening, Rizzo's selected one of their most popular dishes, paired it with a dessert, pre-packaged the meal and then served it to drive-up patrons in the parking lot. Sometimes the drive up wait was an hour+ long. A true bright spot during our quarantine was Rizzo's catering for the few holidays that we could gather. Rizzi went above and beyond to make sure our orders were perfect. We ordered trays of Chicken Romano, Beef Braciole, Pasta, and of course loaves of fresh bread. We paired the trays with some salad, made baked potatoes and had family buffets. Our food was fantastic and made great leftovers. I can honestly say that I'm now a Rizzo's believer! read more

It was ok, but not that impressive. Overall the entire experience was mediocre. We had made reservations for 12 but when we arrived, we were taken to a table with only 10 chairs. While more than half the group was standing and trying to get someone to help us, the waitress started trying to take drink orders from the 3 people that had sat down. It just started things out with a sloppy feel. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special for the high prices. I got the combination pasta platter so that I could try several things. When it came out, I was presented with what looked like mixed pasta soup. The different pastas were on the bowl style plate, sprinkled with gnocchi around the plate and then everything was drown in the sauce. When I asked for fresh cheese for my pasta, I was directed to basic, dry Parmigian cheese in a shaker on the table. The food tasted ok, but wasn't anything I couldn't make at home. It didn't seem that any of the pasta was fresh made. Multiple people at the table ordered the winter sangria, which seemed incredibly watered down. After some people ordered a 2nd glass and they were brought out, we were told that pitchers were available for less cost if we planned to have more. At that point, we had probably already ordered 2 pitchers equivalent. Glad I double checked my bill, because I had other people's items on my bill to the tune of $20+. The desert was tasty. Overall, I didn't find it as fancy or high end of a restaurant as it seems to portray itself as, nor as some comments seem to imply. read more

Old school Italian food and literally the best sauce you'll ever taste. Amazing polenta and arancini. Wide selection of options and killer homemade pastas. I've been coming here for years. I can't believe it took me this long to do a review. Bottom line, if you want consistently good Italian food made like an Italian grandmother would do it, come here. Don't expect fancy, upscale dishes. Expect the basics, done right. My standard meal is simple spaghetti and meatballs with homemade noodles. I'm sure there are others, but this is the only reasonably priced Italian restaurant I know of that still makes homemade noodles. Most Italian restaurants these days serve "imported pasta". Translation - $2 a box Barilla pasta. I always get extra sauce because those noodles really soak it up. This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere and is far away from just about everything, including my home. But I find myself making the long drive any time I need some good old fashioned Italian cooking. As an aside, there is a one star review of this place that I find to be way out of line. How can this person say with certainty that everything is frozen and then insult anyone who thinks otherwise? If you are expecting expensive, upscale, innovative Italian food, this is not the place to go. But don't trash it for being what it is and has been for many years. read more

I'm visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time in a year. Previously, I was in Greensburg for 6 months in 2021. This is the first time I've eaten at Rizzo's, although I've had a limited selection of take out food often....the amazing meatballs in gravy. My host had made reservations for Vallozzi's but I said I wanted to go to Rizzo's. He's eaten there often and I'm already a fan because of takeout. Mistake. The place was PACKED. I think I heard a party of 12 called for. There was definitely a party of 8...it was served by our server. Not an empty table in the house. We ordered fried green tomatoes, a glass of wine and a Bombay Martini. So far so good. We asked for water and bread. Tomatoes, wine and martini (great martini, btw). No water. No bread. I flagged down a young hostess wearing a flowered skirt (or blouse, can't remember which, now). Still no water. Finally our server brought the water and bread. I asked for a new plate for my bread since I'd slathered my bread plate with horseradish sauce). No plate, so no bread. The server who sat us eventually brought my plate (I flagged him down also). My salad arrives! Green salad. I asked and paid for blue cheese and anchovies. The salad was "dry." About wow minutes later our server said our main course was up next. Ok. But I haven't eaten my salad yet. Ok. I suggested that she take my salad back.I'd take it home with me. We've been in the restaurant for an hour now. The party is right I referenced earlier is now having a few slices of cake. Yum. I ordered veal parmigiana with spaghetti and I asked for garlic and oil rather than sauce. My dining partner ordered the special pumpkin ravioli and beans and greens. The garlic in the spaghetti was bottled, not fresh. The spaghetti was Angel hair. It was swimming in oil. It was awful. After the long wait for EVERYTHING and the great frustration that went along with it we asked for the check. We decided we'd take our dinner home. Our sever brought containers...of course, no lids. She brought a box. Unbelievably, she asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Seriously? We are packing up our stuff because it was a lousy evening and she asks if we want dessert. I looked at the check... I thought it was laughable that I was charged for blue cheese and anchovies in a salad I couldn't eat. I thought it was odd that the server for the table behind us made it to that table often....but our server couldn't make it to ours and I had to flag people down. This was a miserable experience. I guess we should have gone to Vallozzi's. We would have paid more for dinner...a lot more, I guess. But I suspect we'd have actually eaten it at the restaurant. The Martini was great and crazy inexpensive. The service was bad. Very bad. The food was not good. We reheated it tonight. The greens and beans were exceptional reheated (I added a couple drops of red wine vinegar and that really added to the flavor.) The pumpkin raviolis were ok reheated. The veal parmigiana was not. The ANGEL HAIR with bottled garlic and oil continued to be awful. Two breads accompanied the dinner (at long list....one crustier than the other. The crusty one was ok. The other, denser bread was flavorless. I guess I'll stick to the takeout meatballs and gravy next time. I can recommend that. The chef came out of the kitchen to see the folks at the table next to us. It's probs a good think he didn't stop by our table. read more

I am 2nd generation Greek & Italian. I know good food and this is it. The small spaghetti with meatball is easily enough for 2 to share. I was sure it was a mistake to order this because it surely couldn't compare to mine. It was perfect! The small antipasto is large enough for 4-6 to share. Get the house dressing ON THE SIDE though. Love it. They have what I consider the best Italian food this side of Italy. I had a huge piece of veal parmigiana with cheese, mushrooms and their wonderful sauce. My side dish was spaghetti. The people I was with got braciola which is rolled steak with bread stuffing in the middle. Her side dish was a backed potato. We both also had house salads with their homemade Italian dressing. (Just like my mother made. No joke!) the third person ordered gnocchi and she loved it. She said it was light and was as good as hers. This woman is a wonderful cook and she started to work at Rizzo's when she was 16. She is 85 years old now. A wonderful meal. My first time at the restaurant. Came in with a group of 7. Made reservations at 6pm. We called at 5:30pm to sat we'd be a few minutes late coming from a Pittsburgh, so around 6:15pm. We got there at 6:7pm to find our reservation was crossed off. The hostess and the owner/chef was very nice but we waited another 20minutes to be seated. Service was very nice but slow, it was very crowded. Apps came at a reasonable time but entree took probably a half hour. Out waitress did apologize in advance and checked on our drinks repeatedly. As for the food.... 3 star mostly for the service. Apps: banana peppers - was drowned in olive oil and covered with cheese. The only taste was the oil. No salt,or any other seasoning. Fried zucchini and onions rings - both were very well fried. Zucchini came with their house marinara for dipping. Nothing to brag about. Entrees - lobster ravioli, looked good and the only dish not drowning in house marinara. Veal parm, was again nicely fried with Marinara drenched to cover the entire plate. Side of spaghetti, again more marinara than spaghetti. lasagna - again same thing. Meatballs - same again, drowning in sauce. Dessert - gelato. These were fantastic. Fig, mint, banana and nutella were all the flavor we tried. Dessert was the winner at this meal. Portions are quite large, doggy bag for sure. Food was bad but it was one note across the board. Every dish was under seasoned and dressed exactly the same. Locals love it here but I'm not too impressed. The "house gravy" is good but I make that at home just as good if not better. A side note for Italian food / cooking....I noticed there were no fresh herbs on anything. Odd. As for the prices, extremely over priced for the level of food you're getting. It is a gold mine however for this area. The service was very good and the owner a really nice guy attending to his customers. That is how you keep loyal clientele. Food is okay great service is what people remember. There is a small store next door which will be shopped many times when I lived here. If you're not in the mood to cook, this is an okay substitute. Our travel hockey team hosted a team dinner and everything was terrific. Rizzi and his team treated us very well. Jenn and Jess provided excellent service.
