I wasn't sure if I wanted to write this review or not. I debated it for days, wondering if it was worth addressing. But after thinking it through, I've decided that my experience needs to be shared. I've been a loyal client at Raw Remedies for the past three years, trusting this business with my hair and always appreciating the artistry behind their services. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I can no longer support this establishment. On Friday, the 14th, I arrived for my scheduled appointment, that had to be accommodated due to discovering that Nae had changed it without notifying me. Instead of communicating properly, I received a passive-aggressive text when I followed up for clarification. This wasn't the first time I had an issue with Nae's lack of communication regarding scheduling, and at this point, it's clear that this is a pattern rather than a one-time mistake. (Screenshots are provided in this review.) Thankfully, the owner, Bobby, was able to accommodate me and booked me with another stylist, El. While the actual hair service itself was great in terms of skill, the overall environment and conversation I was subjected to made this one of the most off-putting and unnecessary experiences I've ever had in a salon. I quickly learned that this African-American woman--who has built a business draped in Pan-African colors and symbols--openly supports MAGA. That alone is her personal choice, but she went further by voluntarily sharing transphobic comments, victim-blaming children who have survived sexual assault, spreading misinformation, and voicing uneducated opinions on Black culture and its appropriation. Even the stylist who did my hair, El, echoed some of these harmful sentiments. I tried to just get through the appointment, even slightly laughing along at times, not because I agreed but because I was uncomfortable and just wanted to finish my service and leave. But by the time I walked out, I felt disgusted. It was one of those moments where you laugh through the discomfort, but deep down, you know it's not okay. My purpose in writing this review is not to tear down a Black-owned business, but rather to make other pro-Black individuals aware of exactly where their money is going. As a queer Black woman who is actively working to break generational curses within my family and my community, I refuse to support people who do not align with those values. Simply decorating a space with African imagery does not mean someone is truly for their people--especially not when they believe the current president is somehow the one to unify our community. And just to add to the list of absurdities: Nicki Minaj is not the reason Black people know about Chinese culture--especially since anime, which is Japanese, was a thing in our community long before she ever existed. But according to Bobby, anime is just "Chinese/Asian culture" as a whole. As expected, MAGA logic isn't rooted in facts--just whatever nonsense comes to mind. At the end of the day, I'm deeply disappointed that I have to find a new salon after years of patronage. But as someone who values authenticity, respect, and true pro-Blackness, I cannot in good conscience continue to give my money to a business that does not reflect those same principles. read more

I don't like to publicly address these types of issues with "our people" but "our people " got to do better. This beauty salon truly has the most talented natural locticians in Las Vegas. But when it comes to scheduling appointments, rescheduling appointments, cancellations, the communication is horrible. I've been stood up on many occasions. I would book a session, session would be confirmed, arrive to hair appointment...doors locked no stylist to be found. No notification of the change. In some instances the stylist would reschedule my hair appointment without even notifying me of the change or asking if that date and time will suffice. I dealt with this for about 3 years and as a loyal client I've finally decide to venture out and find other locticians. Its truly sad because I enjoyed the privacy and professionalism of this establishment but this is the last time im going to show up to my hair appointment eager to get styled, only to be greeted with a locked door and no notice of cancellation. read more

l've been going to raw remedies since December 2021 with no problems, the service was great up until June 2023 , usually my stylist Jennie would tell me what I can and can't do for my hair due to the length of my hair, but this time she did a style that had to much tension on my hair which caused my hair to be pulled from the root, I sent over pictures to ask was it to much tension on my hair and my stylist (Jennie) said "no it just looks dry". read more

I came here July 30th, 2022 for starter locs. Jannine (sorry if I'm slaughtering the name spelling) did an amazing job with my comb coils. She educated me and answered all of my questions during my appointment. And I felt knowledgeable and confident in beginning my Loc journey when I left the shop that day. I've gotten retwisted by her twice and loved the outcome every time. The owner Bobbie makes all of the products that the stylist and locticians use and they all smell good enough to eat! I went here for about 3 or 4 months with Nae as my Loctician. She did a pretty good job on my Locs but... the customer service and communication is poor and I'll never go back. For my last appointment I showed early with my hair braided from my last appointment with her. Nae came around the corner and told me if my hair wasn't unbraided in 15mins she was going to charge me Late fee. It had never been communicated through store policy nor was I told this in my prior visits. The way I was approached was rude, confrontational and in poor taste. Honestly had she offered to take the braids down for a fee I would have paid her. I always show up on time and always tip. However, I refuse as a paying customer to be treated rudely. In short they do good work but need to focus on customer service. read more

I had an amazing experience with Ji'tea. She was informative and encouraging as I'm new to my loc journey. Professional, timely, and polite was the customer service aspect. The re twist itself is the best I've had, and she is the third person. Their website says from relaxed to natural hair, big chop. Even has a photo of a woman with short natural hair. I have medium length natural hair.. I came in to asked I can make an appt for a haircut. I was told "we do natural hair" well that's what I have. She repeated "no sweetie we do natural hair" I was left confused because my hair is obviously natural. Then after going back and forth I realized she was saying locs and braids naturally. No extensions etc. oh ok! What I hate the most about black owned business is the bad advertising, miscommunication and surliness when yyou ask questions. You know how hairstylists are always running behind, eating food on the job, starting your appointment 30 to 60 minutes late and running over time. I have never, and I mean NEVER had that experience here. I don't know how they do it, but this is the most punctual hair salon and I believe that should not be taken lightly! Lol. I started my locs back in August 2019 with Ji'Yea and have been going back about every 8 weeks for maintenance. She always does good work, and it's quick. I made an appointment early May 12th for June 3rd on StyleSeat for shampoo, conditioner. I had a conversation several times with Nae. Per the request- I text my pics. After no communication, Nae informed me she was not able to assist me because of chemicals. I have been natural for 6yrs and she recommended referring me to the Owner. In the mean time StyleSeat declined my appointment. I was not given the owner's name only a number. The customer service was very inconsiderate. I should of been given an appointment, but I have no interest further. Before I made the appointment I spoke with someone over the phone asking questions about the services. Raw remedies got me started on my log journey nearly 2 1/2 years ago and I am just now getting around to writing a review. (Large in part because it takes me awhile to trust anyone, lol). But I have to say, they have been consistent since day one. Most shops/salons are after money. Being in business myself, I will sell milk to a cow as long as I make more money. Bobbie and Raw Remedies however? Not the case at all. They genuinely care about their clients. There have been many things that I wanted to try with my hair. Rather than agree to get more money from me, Bobbie tells me the truth. If she doesn't think it will benefit me or the health of my hair, she will tell me so. This is how trust is developed. She has my best interest at heart. She makes me feel like a VIP and has a spirit you can only find in Heaven. Being from Los Angeles, this place reminded me of home--it gave me the feeling that I was dead smack in the middle of Leimert Park. My regular loctitian couldn't do my hair when I needed her to, so I was referred here (by another local shop). I was pleased with the work. I'm sold on the establishment being specialists in natural hair products. At least I know where to come now in Vegas when I need natural products to maintain my locs, because I was convinced I had to stock up when I went home. I was referred to Raw Remedies about four years ago when I moved to Vegas and have been going ever since! I used to go and get straw sets on my natural hair, and recently started my locs here a year ago. Going always feels like getting my hair done family instead of in a shop. Everyone in the shop has done my hair and are all very skilled at what they do. They are great stylists too if you like your locs styled. I only have to go once every 4-5 weeks to get a retwist. They are all personable and remember your name, what you like, etc. I constantly get hair compliments and cannot keep Raw Remedies business cards in my wallet because I give them out so much! read more

After going to several different locticians from Alabama to California and now here in Nevada. I have hit the jackpot! The way she washed my hair OMG she wasn't scared and it felt like heaven on earth to my head! So after years of wondering what went on inside this little shop in Downtown Las Vegas I finally decided to visit on 8/1/14 FIRST FRIDAY! I walked in... the lights were low and the scent in the air was soothing. The ladies at the front desk even had a soothing voice. I looked down and looked at these bars of soap they have for sale and OH MY GAAAWD! It smelled great, the young lady at the front desk helped me pick one out. I told her I started to breakout due to my new workout routines and she suggested I use this bar of soap on my face. I have been using it for 3 days and my skin feels amazing!!!
