No issues with the service, but there was nothing on we ate that I would ever have again. We had multiple starters and regretted each of them. The tuna ceviche may have come out of a can, it was awful! The nikandagu (meatballs) went unfinished due to blandness. The crab cakes would typically be scarfed up but these too went unfinished due to lack of seasoning. I went out on a limb and ordered the teppanyaki tuna and you would think you were Kansas where they have no clue how to handle seafood and not in the Carribean. We had the Rockstar roll and it went unfinished, I feel bad for the lobster that was used for this. Last complaint was using old black mint leaves in the mojitos. Not too appealing when you see black slimy stuff stuck to the side of your glass. Maybe we went on a bad night but the 3 couples that ate here were not happy with any of the meals. My daughter and her best friend wanted sushi and we saw this place on a Friday around 6pm. We walked in and it wasn't really big but had a couple tables open but we didn't have a reservation. She went to computer and asked if it was possible to be finished in less than a hour and we said no problem. The sushi was great and it was a fun atmosphere and the waiter was fantastic. We flipped a coin heads was RAW, tails was melt. Well what a great flip! We ended up having the edamame which had a light sesame oil and dusted with a little kick! We then had the "RAW"-kin tacos which were outstanding. Ahi tuna tacos with a mango sauce. You must order these when you are here. We also tried the "RAW"-kin roll which was also really good. Everything tastes fresh and the presentation on everything was very appealing. The restaurant is beautiful and inviting. We are locals here and we have found a sushi home for sure. We tried to make a reservation, but it only showed later hours than what we wanted. We decided to give it a try since it was 5:00 on a Thursday. We were asked if we had a reservation but did get immediately seated. We didn't know there were happy hour specials, which worked out well since the kids like edamame and simple sushi rolls. They did not have a California roll on the menu, but they gladly made it for our kids. I had the 4 tuna roll which was good, relatively decent portions, for a slightly higher than average price stateside. They don't have as many roll options as some of the other sushi restaurants on the island, so I would check the menu for specific rolls if you're particular. Did not try any of the alcohol options, but several specialty drinks and sakes for those that partake. The restaurant did fill quickly, and as it did, the service was a little slower. I could see this being a great takeout order after a long day at the beach. People were in and out picking up food like a revolving door. As far as kids go, I wouldn't take younger kids to this restaurant as all the tables are higher up. Not necessarily small kid friendly (no kids menu). Overall service wasn't exceptional or very welcoming/friendly (unlike most other places we've been to.) Ambiance was Asian inspired and fitting of a sushi restaurant. No, just no. Save yourself the torture of not being served. We were in the USVI for an extended stay in April. We ate at Raw twice, and tried to eat there a third time. The food is very good - the problem is the staff. Service is incredibly slow and they are shorthanded. The third time we tried to eat there, we stood in the doorway awkwardly because there is no hostess. After about 3-5 minutes someone came over and sat us. A young girl asked if we wanted water and then never came back! We were seated at the high top community table, and there were only two tables with patrons beside ourselves. The Maitre' D or manager from Pesce next door came over and recognized us and asked how we were. (We had been on the island for a while.). We told her we had been sitting for 15 minutes with no service. She didn't look surprised, so she offered to take our drink orders. She went and told the young girl and two gentlemen who had been tapping on the computer for 15 minutes and they proceeded to ignore her. She came back and said she would go next door to Pesce to at least get our young daughter's lemonade. She came back in two minutes with a lemonade. We watched as the two men and one young girl took turns entering things on a computer and helping other tables. Two more tables were seated and helped. Finally after being ignored for long enough, my husband went up to the bar and asked the one male who our server was. He said, "I don't know, probably me, but I'm not even a server." Confused, my husband said we've been sitting for a long time and two tables after us have already been served drinks. The man told my husband, "Sir, I don't know, go sit down." Well things quickly spiraled out of control after that command. My husband said excuse me? My daughter and I stood up from the table because it was clear we would be leaving soon. The other gentleman suddenly seemed interested now that voices were being raised, and introduced himself as the manager to take the focus off the nimrod that told my husband to sit down. My husband told him how long we had been waiting and that we were even helped by someone from Pesce before anyone in here even noticed. He said he would serve us, and my husband said it is a little late at this point, and that the idiot that "wasn't even a server" needed to go work in the back where he wouldn't be facing customers. We had been there for over half an hour with no drinks, no server, while the manager, nimrod, and the young girl walked around like chickens with their heads cut off. The restaurant wasn't even full! St. Thomas Restaurant Group has a monopoly on the island. While most of what they own is very, very good - Raw needs a whole new staff. read more

Just no. I've never had sushi this bad, ever. My friends and I went to Raw immediately after a boating trip and their preferred sushi place was closed. I ordered the Nadir my problem and the RAWkin roll. I don't remember which it was but one of the rolls literally tasted like a McFish sandwich fried and served with a random sauce. Now, tempura rolls aren't always known to be the best but this tasted horrible. I though I was maybe just being picky but none of my friends were able to finish any of the rolls they ordered either. This is a great spot for sushi in Red Hook. My family had excellent service and they were very accommodating of my allergies. They had a couple of vegetarian options including the Rasta Man, and they were able to make the edamame vegetarian, but they don't have brown rice sadly.
