Had a really nice dinner at Isla Blue. The atmosphere is beautiful, especially if you're sitting near the water. It is upscale and is a great spot for a sunset dinner. The Tuna Ceviche ($24) was fresh and bright with citrus flavors. The Tuna Poke ($28) was beautifully presented and flavorful. Both were light but satisfying appetizers. For the main course we ordered the Paella ($42). The dish came loaded with mussels and shrimp and chicken and rice. It had a nice balance of flavors. To drink, I had the Golden Hour cocktail ($16), which was light and refreshing as well. Service was smooth and attentive throughout the evening. One thing to note is that a 20% gratuity is automatically added. Overall, the food was fresh, the presentation was beautiful, and the ambiance made the experience even better. If you're looking for a nice dinner spot in St. Thomas with beautiful views this is definitely worth checking out. read more

Super underwhelming and disappointing. The reason for two stars is the ambience was good with open air seating and a pretty dining area with high ceilings. This was unfortunately our least favorite meal during our time spent on the resort and by far the most expensive (which we expected but hoped the experience would match the price). For drinks we ordered one still water and one sparkling water along with a cocktail. For the waters we expected to pay for the sparkling water but the waitress (without informing us) brought out two glass bottles of Acqua Panna water (one still, one sparkling) that ended up costing us $10 and $12. Since when is a restaurant charging $10 for still water... for appetizers we ordered langosta taquitos and the bonita roll. Taquitos were fine but nothing to write home about. The Bonita roll I actually enjoyed and was probably my favorite part of the whole meal. For entrees we ordered the filet mignon and the lobster and then manchego cassava mash on the side (not pictured). The filet and lobster were fine but nothing special (and when you're paying fine dining prices you expect special - $150 for an entree with no sides). The cassava was not good and terribly under seasoned. To top it all off our waitress had a weird attitude. I can only describe it as a snooty "I'm better than you" type of attitude. We had an early reservation (5pm) and there were no other patrons in the restaurant for the first 30 or so minutes we were there and even after it never really got busy and yet we were rushed to order and then looked down upon when we didn't want dessert - just felt odd. Needless to say, would not recommend. 2 stars is honestly generous, but again added a star for the ambience. read more

The service was excellent, the server was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was very pleasant and relaxing. The food was horrible. I ordered the vegetarian option which was a stuffed pepper and rice. My food was cold. I tried not to complain but I wanted my food hot so the server too it to the back and warmed it up. Someone else in my party her food had to be warmed up as well. My brother's lobster was different textures he couldn't eat it. He ordered a steak and asked for well done. The server waited for him to try it out and make sure it was well done. The center was well done but as he continued to eat it became rare. We didn't complain just accepted it for what it was. Hate to say it, but the food at Isla Blue missed the mark in too many ways. We came specifically for the grouper--the dish they had been advertising for months--but were told it wasn't available. What made that even more frustrating is that we were the *first* guests in the restaurant that evening, so it's not like they sold out. It simply wasn't there. We ordered the seafood platter instead. The ceviche was overwhelmingly filled with canned pineapple--seriously? That was the main flavor- only flavor. Then came a couple of shrimp... after waiting 45 minutes. And this was cold seafood. With the grouper off the table, we tried the oxtail. One of the four pieces was *just* a bone--the size of the side of my pinky (I have photos). I bit into it thinking it was part of a plantain chip, and it hurt my teeth. A serious oversight from the kitchen. Again- covered in pineapple... why???...obsession? To top it off, nearly everything we ordered tasted the same. The corn side dish, for example, seemed to just have oxtail grease poured over it (we took it home- and sure enough solidified). No real flavor variation. For a menu that reads well, the execution was a letdown. I'm a former fine dining chef and restaurateur. To walk away hungry--after spending almost $400--is unacceptable. We live here, and as my husband said: we're not coming back. That's not good news for any place hoping to build loyalty in the local community. The drain fly issue made an already disappointing experience even worse. Please, address this properly--those were clearly drain flies, and having them land on our food and faces during Christmas dinner was honestly disgusting. Placing traps inside the ceiling lights so guests sit directly beneath hundreds of dead flies? Unacceptable. You're a Buoy restaurant--hire a proper pest control service and get this taken care of. It got to the point where my husband was wiping flies off my face every 15 seconds - nothing like giving chistmas love language and flies in your hair. We almost walked out. read more

Incredible ambiance and view - oceanfront and perfect for a romantic date night or fancy occasion. The service was lovely and attentive, and overall the vibes were great (just can't beat the views and location!). Our server was Molly and she was so kind, friendly and attentiv, and she gave us great recommendations for both food and drinks! Highly suggest the Manchego chicken and steak dishes - seasoned and cooked perfectly! Also don't skip on dessert- we had the donut holes (made to order- yum!!!) served with horchata dipping sauce and Mexican chocolate ice cream delicious! We love the Buoy Haus and have stayed there twice. Last time, they pushed Isla Blue so this time I made a reservation. It is terribly convenient and the room is gorgeous; high ceilings and fans, open on all sides, and the water licking at the building foundation. But the food and service do not match the prices. I ordered a mojito and the waitress brought a special blueberry mojito which I sent back. When the correct drink came, I am pretty sure it was just limeade with some mint leaves -- no alcohol detected. We had a salad which was like eating grass, with tough leaves and no discernable flavor. I had a halibut special which was fine, not great and my side of rice came pretty much as a finished my main course. My wife had mahi which was also ok. The highlight was the cheesy mashed taro side that my wife had. The aspirations definitely do not match the experience. Next time I will get a burger at the Salt Shack. read more

One of the restaurants at the Westin/Bouy Haus....probably the most expensive. Restaurant was fancy-ish and i bet has a great very during the daylight. While we probably could and maybe should have dressed up more we didn't since it was our last night, we were tired and had packed most of our clothes. Thankfully we were not turned away. Our sever was very nice and bubbly. She told us the specials and made us aware of items they had run out of. Neither of us were super hungry and my friend just got dessert. I ended up getting an appetizer with scallops that were fresh and cooked well. I got a side of the cassava mash since it was unique. It was a large portion and I enjoyed it. They had a few other sides that sounded good that I would have considered if I had been more hungry. I did have room for dessert and got the churro donuts after overhearing someone talk about them the night before. Nice and "crispy" on the outside and soft on the inside. Don't waste your time or money! We were so happy to have reservations here and looking forward to an amazing dinner. We were disappointed to say the least. To begin with the menu is a disaster. They say the chef claims to present a fusion of Japanese and Mexican, yes that's right, that is what they said. The flavors do not go together at all which was evident in the food we ordered. Additionally, the fish was overcooked to something of a belt leather texture. The small filet was prepared to the right temperature, but had a seasoning that did not complement beef. In addition, they have an inflated view of their appeal. Everything on the menu is greatly overpriced for what you get. The service was OK. The ambience was OK. Nothing was great and we do not recommend this restaurant. We have eaten in many fine dining establishments across the world and this was a great disappointment. read more

Lobster was bland, broccolini was plentiful. They do not have bread at all for fine dining that is BAD. My husband had special it was wahoo it was the worst fish he ever has had. No flavor. The sauce was terrible it was like a poorly made gravvy (white). All over priced. Service waiter was fine but the bussers had no personality , yes no answers , no human connection at all. No smile almost well high. The app for making reservation sends you to salt shack. Maybe that is intentional? Would I go back? No (h...no). Would I tell my friends or enemies ? Went to all the high end restaurants while on the island with a group of 17 - this one was by far my favorite! location is beautiful. Ambiance. Lighting. Dishes. Style. Everything was spot on. We had a pre set menu. As soon as we got in they had appetizers on the table. They were delicious. We did the chicken dish / a lot of people's favorite. Prawn was so good. Ribeye was so good. My all time favorite was the Caribbean lobster / by far the best lobster I have ever eaten in my life. I usually am not a fan of lobster bc it's chewy. This was so buttery and soft and delicious. I could have just had lobster! All the sides were delicious too. Desserts were amazing the dairy free coconut sorbet was so fresh and delicious. Besides the food being top notch and delicious this was the ONLY restaurant we went to the entire time that had friendly, personal and connecting servers. Everyone was so nice here!
