Had dinner here tonight and enjoyed every bit of the experience. Had the chicken biryani which was fresh, delicious and full of wonderful flavors and textures. The yogurt sauce that came with was a great addition. The other half got the chicken brochette which was also delicious. The hummus and fresh flat bread was phenomenal! A gem in Westville We have eaten here several times and wanted to post this review. This place is so delightful. The menu is somewhat limited right now but everything is fresh and homemade. The fresh pita bread is light and has a lovely smoky flavor and the dips (hummus etc) are delicious and lemony; the best around. The meat and rice dishes (biryani) have a touch of spice, wonderful rich meat/shrimp and the tenderest most savory rice I think I have ever had with grilled vegetables. I also love their grilled chicken salad with a lemony dressing and crispy lettuce. I don't personally eat wheat so have not tried the pizzas but they seem popular. Falafel was great too. read more

Had a plain pizza delivered. The cheese was not very good. Flat anfd kind of grainy. Babaganoush was great but only included one piece of pita- not enough to eat this dish. Also they packaged the soda cans with the hot food whihc of course meant they were warn when received. read more

Wow! What a revelation! Rawa hits on all cylinders for a lovely meal. The red pepper dip was outstanding -- bright roasted pepper with a perfect combination of walnut, olive oil and other spices. It's hard to get a hummus or baba ghanoush, foul or other middle eastern dips that doesn't disappoint with an air of middle-of-the-road sameness. Rawa's dip was a perfect balance of all the flavors, and the best I've tasted in years. Dinner companion chose the merguez sausage plate, and I chose a flatbread with chicken, pine nuts and sumac. Both were delicious, generous in portion, and again spot-on with the flavors. It is also somewhat unusual to have a full bar in a middle eastern restaurant. House specialty cocktail with gin and elderflower cordial was a pleasant discovery on a relatively short menu. Menu in general is short and to the point, but there's plenty for vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters alike. I will look forward to another visit soon! read more

The food was good, but the online menu that we used didn't indicate which how spicy different dishes were. My dinner guests were unable to eat the Momyaldi pizza. The Momyaldi was good and the well prepared, but they weren't able to enjoy it. We would have selected something else if we'd known. The hummus was delicious. The pita was very fresh and well cooked. I'd recommend Rawa, but you need ask which dishes are spicy and which aren't. read more

First visit via YELP reviews. Ordered humus, chopped salad, and babaganoush. The chopped salad was not tebouleh-like so disappointing. The humus and baba were lacking flavor and even adding requested lemon, still tasted bland. The red pizza was okay, not my kind of pizza / flatbread. The lamb pizza was what I was excited to try and I found the red sauce to be overpowering and too much sauce. The lamb did not carry the load flavor wise so the experience failed. The staff is really GREAT. The atmosphere is very nice, but I won't return. The other reviews contradict my review so I wouldn't avoid RAWA. read more

Delicious!!! The hummus and falafel are the best in New Haven. The falafel was actually light and fluffy! The food is fresh and flavorful. In a city crowded with ethnic restaurants, Rawa is a standout. The avocado salad was wonderful- a great change from guacamole, and the momyaldi pizza with oven roasted tomatoes, carmelized onions, and eggplant was out of this world. I've been to Rawa many times & will absolutely return again! The food is delicious, they have incredible cocktails, & I have not one complaint on the service. I've sat at both a table & the bar. My server was quick to make menu suggestions and even helped me to alter the recipe of my drink due to an allergy. The cocktail I wanted had a juice in it I couldn't have so she made me a special "edition" of that cocktail so I wouldn't be disappointed- she did an amazing job. Okay, first off, I never knew about this place, it's kind of a hidden gem in New Haven. It is fresh Mediterranean food with a twist. There are a lot of different options on the menu to choose from, since it's Med-fusion. I got the baby lamb ribs, those were perfect and had the perfect balance of flavor and texture. My husband enjoyed the Rawa Pizza and truly enjoyed it. Everything tasted so fresh and made with love. We wish we could have ordered everything off the menu LOL! The customer service was excellent, definitely would come back again to try more off the menu. read more

Best tasting, most unique roasted vegetable pizza I have ever tasted. My only regret is that I didn't order a second pie to take home. Rawa is the real deal. Authentic, fresh, reasonably priced and delicious. The owner is new to Westville, but had successful restaurants in NYC before coming to New Haven. I look forward to an expended menu (hopefully!) as Rawa settles in here. Love the communal tables - handcrafted by a local craftsperson. The decor is casual, but smart. Service is quite good, though the restaurant was only take-out when it first opened. My only complaint is that it is closed on Mondays, but can not begrudge people a day off. Probably a smart move on their part, as not a big restaurant crowd on Monday nights. read more

Incredibly bad. Ordered food only to have the waitress come back to our table 45 minutes later and ask what we had ordered. Then told us it would be another 20 minutes. And it wasn't even busy. Waitress was lovely and apologetic but this place ain't gonna make it if they can't even produce two dinners from their very limited menu. No manager intervention. Nothing.
