We went to this restaurant thinking it was the previous Istanbul Cafe. What a huge disappointment. The food was bland, servings small, and very expensive. It is the first time I've left a Turkish Restaurant without a doggie bag or two and my husband left hungry. The restaurant was not crowded at all and yet our server was not welcoming or attentive to our party. We had to ask for refills of water and waited about 30 minutes for our tab. She did not check on our table once during the meal. This is not the service of other Turkish/Mediterranean Restaurants we frequent in the area. The restaurant is small and our party of six were seated at two tiny round tables that we so close to the front door that every time someone came in it were were greeted with cold air. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone I like. I will certainly not return. read more

A lovely place to go when you're craving some good Mediterranean/Turkish food. It's a cozy, attractively-decorated, intimate little place in an area proliferated with restaurants, nightlife, and theatre. My companion and I ordered the carrot tarator as an appetizer and it was tasty (though I usually don't like carrots on the rawer side as they give me heartburn, so I applied to the pita as sparingly as I could). The grilled salmon was delicious and flavorful and came with a nice side salad of arugula, shaved beets, grape tomatoes, and shaved carrots (thankfully, all items are served side by side and you can mix to your own liking). My companion had the sea bass, proclaimed they weren't going to eat it all, but did because it was so good. The service is kind and does not rush you. You do need to ask for the check. They do validate parking for the Crown Street Garage a block away. This isn't the first time I've been here, and I'm surprised I never reviewed it before. Obviously, it's good. This was a fantastic experience. We ate inside and the mood was chill - able to talk and did not overhear other people either. We had spicy pepper tapenade and haydari for appetizers which our server had recommended and they were great together. Also had the Hunkar Begendi with chicken which was lovely. The server was really the highlight - she knew the menu and made recommendations that worked out well. The meal was also paced really well. This place has been on my list for so long! Walked in it's a cute little spot with a lot of outdoor seating for the summer months, they have a cafe and restaurant inside. We first tried their lentil soup which was sooo good. Perfect taste and I love it with the bread. I tried their cherry juice which is a given for Turkish restaurants , and my husband tried the yogurtlu Adana which was so good. I was blown away by the flavor in this dish the yogurt paired with the tomatoes sauce was amazing. Also my Adana kebab was great too very well seasoned and perfectly made. We came here on a semi-rainy day and the ambiance was still great! The service was decently-paced and the waitress gave us really good advice for our large group of 13 people. She recommended we get the mixed tapas (highly recommend to try a wide selection of different flavors) and individual entrees. I ordered the yogurt adana (lamb meat on hot buttered bed of bread cubes that is soaked in cold yogurt and sizzling hot fried tomato sauce) and absolutely loved the flavors! There was a bit too much oil for my taste, to be honest, which is why I am giving my meal 4 stars but it was still delicious. I couldn't finish it all on my own and had to get some of it to-go but would come again in the future! Do be forewarned, the prices are a bit on the higher end so I'd suggest coming for a special occasion. read more

Stopped by here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. There weren't too many people, which made sense given that we came by in the summer when students aren't on campus. My party ordered four dishes: the house salad, Kofte, Chicken Shish, and the Midpoint Adana. The house salad, which came out at $10, was excellent. The dressing they used made the salad taste quite good and included many types of vegetables - cucumbers, carrots, and a couple more. Impressive dish. I ordered the chicken shish, which was good, but nothing to write home about. The chicken was quite tender and seasoned decently. The yogurt sauce that came with it was not my cup of tea. I ended up not using much of it at the end. Not great bang for your buck in my opinion, as the serving sizes weren't that large either. Overall, a solid place, but I think you could do better for your money. read more

Loved the falafel as well - crisp and perfect. My friend loved his lamb shish. To finish our dinner, we got the baklava to share with a Turkish coffee. It was our first time trying this restaurant in New Haven. The place is very neat and clean from the inside and social distancing is maintained. There weren't many people in the restaurant when we arrived for lunch. It's a nice cozy place and has a good ambiance. We started with their midpoint grill mix that two people can share easily. It comes with lamb chop, lamb shish, chicken shish and some hummus and yogurt that we requested. Their bread is complimentary with olive oil. Chicken and lamp chop tasted fresh but lamb shish didn't taste fresh to me. It was hard to chew and I'm not sure if it was lamb or beef shish because it tasted like beef. The menu didn't state anything about beef shish but I think there were some beef shish included in this grill mix. We also tried their falafel plate and that was good. I liked their dessert the most - it's called Kazandibi and originates from the palace of Ottoman Empire. This dessert is a type of caramelized milk pudding served with pistachio and fruit. Overall, this is a great restaurant and everything tasted fresh except for the lamb shish, which really tasted like hard beef and weren't easy to chew. What a find! Gorgeous dining area in the heart of downtown with great views of the street through the large windows. The staff were great in helping us select dishes and recommended appetizers for us to try. The mezzo plates were delicious and we shared some for the table since our crowd was hungry. We had stuffed grape leaves (vegetarian) and hummus and everyone was happy. My daughter had the grilled salmon entree and I ordered the eggplant musakka. My husband (the less adventurous palate among us) was pleased with the sautéed chicken plate. We tried a yogurt beverage for the first time called Ayran and while it won't be an every visit drink, I'm glad I tried it once. I can't wait to return to try more of these amazing dishes! I just loved the dining room which blended the city brick and wood floor with chandeliers, mismatched seats and other touches that seemed a harmonious blend of shabby chic and bohemian romantic. Midpoint has been around for a while and yet this was my first time dining in. Since COVID is still running rampant, outdoor dining is the only way to go for me. My friend & I were greeted by one of the waiters and sat outside on the deck. Their patio is super quaint & pretty. Our waitress came and took our order swiftly. I got the Prosecco for my drink and the shrimp option for dinner. My meal was so yummy along with the side of rice I opted for. We spent over 3hrs here just because the experience was excellent. Upscale! This is a definite if you're looking for Turkish chic! Lovely atmosphere. We sat on posh chairs with cushions. So comfy. The menu had several interesing items which I would have ordered, but I just attended the street market, we ordered drinks. I had the Turkish tea. A robust tea perfect just by itself. Time: Late October 2022 Ambience: I went here dinner on a Thursday evening, and the place was almost full, but not packed. I always walk past this place and thought it would be nice to dine-in at because the interior is very warm and comfortable, but still maintaining an air of fanciness that is chic enough to be a great date night spot. The space has a homey feeling because of the size (about an average living room), tables, and chairs. However, the windows, lighting, and storefront calligraphy give off a classy, "Gatsby-esque" vibe too. The storefront has large panes of window throughout the building, which makes the string lights especially moody in the evening. I would come here for a coffee just to enjoy the ambience and soak in the aesthetically pleasing interior. There is a parking lot to the left of the restaurant, but you can also try your luck with the street parking (busy street though!). Service was pretty good for one waitress running all the tables. Food: Incredibly delicious and has a great depth of flavor! - Midpoint Cheese Rolls ($12): very very yummy! These are warm, toasty, and filled the the perfect amount of cheese. The cheese and parsley creates a perfect blend of flavor that mixes very well with the yogurt sauce we are given to dip the rolls in. The vegetable oil and pan frying of these long cheese rolls were reminiscent of a biting into a nice taquito. I highly recommend getting this dish for the table (comes in a serving size of six!) - Yogurt Adana ($26): incredible depth of flavor. The lamb tasted very fresh and had a stronger gamey taste (so be aware), but this is easily masked by the wonderful aromas of the hot fried tomato sauce and cold yogurt. The yogurt sauce was a solid tasting yogurt sauce (creamy with a tinge of tanginess), but wasn't as notable as the tomato sauce. I am absolutely in love with the tomato sauce and I have never tasted such depth in a tomato sauce. It was pureed to be slightly thinner than a pasta sauce consistency, but it had such a deep savory flavor with the most minute hints of charcoal. It was amazing and I think it is the highlight of the dish! The bread cubes were also very delicious and well buttered. My only complaint was that they stuck to the bottom of the plate often and had to be scraped off. There was also a tomato and pepper on the side that was also grilled. They were yummy, but not notable (the pepper was spicy!). The portion size was also pretty decent (you will definitely feel full). Overall, I haven't stopped thinking about the taste of the hot fried tomato sauce since I last ate here. I will definitely be back again! I think this place is a great date night spot or a dining spot for a celebratory occasion as it also checks off the ambiance box. The food here is a bit pricier, but I think the taste was worth the price! read more

I work across the street and come in quite frequently for their coffee/ espresso and it's always very tasty and a great pick me up. I just had dinner here for the first time and it is outstanding. Great Americano! I was heading to Midpoint Coffee to grab a pick-me-up for the ride home but the door was locked. Thankfully, I turned around and saw Midpoint Istanbul Fine Dining across the street! I hoped they could satisfy my need for a boost, so I stopped in. I was welcomed as I walked in, so right away I asked about a coffee and was told they have great espresso so I opted for an Americano which I often use as a comparison metric when checking out new roasters. I forgot to ask if they are the same place but they are right across the street and have a similar logo. I will get this americano again when in New Haven, it has a bold, full bodied flavor and the hallmark of espresso done right. The helpful person sized up my Hydro Flask to get a feel for it's volume and recommended two shots. I always take the advice of the experts and the result was delicious! Not too overpowering but not diluted, it's right in the sweet spot. This will do nicely for the ride home! read more
