When I refused, I was denied my prescription, pressured into a $700 rigid contact lens, and told I would no longer be accepted as a patient. My $200 exam fee was refunded, and the service was terminated instead of providing my prescription. I was also denied access to my medical records. This situation raises serious concerns under the FTC Contact Lens Rule, which protects patients' right to receive their prescription after an eye exam regardless of purchase. I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the Massachusetts Attorney General. Despite my insurance covering services, I was billed extra fees just to receive a prescription and for services clearly marked as included. I ordered glasses and specifically requested they use my current prescription. The doctor had provided a placeholder for a stronger option, but I told the associate I did not want to use that for at least one pair. They ignored my request and ordered the glasses with the stronger prescription anyway. My wife returned the glasses on my behalf and explained the mistake. They dismissed her and insisted the order was correct. I couldn't get there myself without taking time off work, so I waited until my next appointment. When I explained the issue in person, I was told flatly: "That's your problem." I was stunned. No accountability. No apology. No interest in fixing their error. This business prioritizes billing over patient care. After 10 years, they showed no regard for loyalty or basic customer service. I was told my glasses were ready, went to pick it up only for it to be the wrong prescription. I was told it would be sent out to be corrected. I waited 3 weeks , no one called there was no text message. I called to check if my glasses had arrived and was told they had arrived . I went again to target , only to be told by O'Neal the manager that the glasses actually had never been sent out at all. He assured me that it would be sent out and the correct prescription would be done . I waited again another two weeks . Called target optical , they said the glasses were there . Again I went down to the store only to be told the glasses could not be found in the store . O'Neal searched the store and could not locate the glasses in store . Again I was told to come back . The prescription still did not match the lenses that were made . At this point I sent an email to corporate. The district manager Joe called me after three weeks . He did not introduce himself or even look at the email. I had to explain to him what the problem was . Joe's response was very nonchalant. We can refund you $50 for the incompetence of our company! I came back one more time hoping they got the prescription right . Yet again they did not ! I was told I need time for my eyes to adjust to the prescription. The prescription I kept getting from target was made weaker than the glasses I currently wear and much weaker than what my prescription calls for . I asked if I could get a second opinion on the lenses . So I went to another optical store and they confirmed the lenses are weaker and do not match my current glasses or prescription . So far I'm being told just wear the glasses with a weak prescription on it . When I refused to do that and weaken my eyes . I opted to get a full refund . We are in the last week of the year and my only option is to get a refund !!
