Nick handled the whole thing himself, and honestly, it was one of the best contractor experiences we've had. Nick's straightforward and easy to talk to--he showed up when he said he would, kept me in the loop every step, and never once tried to upsell me on stuff I didn't need. For example, when we were picking out fixtures for the upstairs bath, he pointed out a couple of more expensive options that looked flashy but wouldn't hold up as well in our hard water, then suggested solid mid-range ones that were better quality for the price. Same thing with the basement: I was worried about moisture issues down there, and he recommended adding a good exhaust fan and specific waterproofing under the tile without pushing a full waterproof membrane that would've doubled the cost unnecessarily. He just gave honest pros and cons so we could decide. The work itself is insane. In the upstairs bathroom, he tore out the old awkward layout and reconfigured it so the shower feels spacious now instead of cramped--he tiled the shower floor with these little hexagonal tiles and there's not a single uneven edge or lip anywhere--you can run your hand over it and it feels like one solid piece. He built a recessed niche that's actually deep enough for full-size bottles (most contractors make them too shallow and you're constantly knocking stuff over). Down in the basement he basically turned a blank corner into a full bath without tearing the place apart. The walk-in shower has a little built-in bench and a handheld wand he mounted exactly where I use it every day. The floor tile he picked has just enough texture that it doesn't feel like an ice rink when it's wet, but still looks clean and modern. He even threw in a moisture barrier and mold-resistant board behind the drywall even though I never asked--he just said "I always do it this way so you don't have problems later." He cleaned up meticulously after each day (no drywall dust tracked through the house), and when a small delay came up with a delayed vanity delivery, he communicated right away and adjusted the schedule without drama. Nick works completely solo, shows up every single morning at 8:00 sharp, sweeps up before he leaves, and answers his phone when you call. The guy is just rock-solid honest and genuinely nice to be around. If you need real work done right the first time and you live in the St. Louis area, call Nick. I already have him booked for the kitchen next spring. Highly recommend.
