Do Not Buy A Car Here I've bought four previous cars from Skillman and the experiences were excellent. They seem to have changed recently. We told them our price limit, and they tried to push us into stuff 20% more expensive. Then, the car they did sell us had worn brakes, but it is used. However, previously that would have been fixed before showing. Then, our mechanic found a bad front axle. The sales rep's response was, "Well, that's not too bad." Both together were a $900 fix, AFTER buying the car. Then, I noticed it pulling to one side. Turns out the rear axles were bad, too. Another $800. Part of the purchase was to have the towing package installed, which for some reason they couldn't schedule for a month. Then they scheduled it, but ordered the wrong kit, so they had to keep the car for two more days, but they didn't tell me this before closing time, so I didn't have the car for a business weekend. Then, they installed the hitch, but not the wiring harness which is part of the TOWING PACKAGE, and we had to take it back yet again. I received emails from both rep and sales manager telling me to contact them with any issues. My emails were ignored. It wasn't until I went in in person that I got the hitch taken care of, and the rest blown off. I sent a paper letter to the sales manager. Two weeks later, no response. I will not be back. They've turned into textbook used car salesmen, jacking up the price and providing inferior support. read more

Even though it was 2019 when i had this still read before you go. I bought a truck from this place and it was my first time ever purchasing a vehicle. they refused to fill up def and diesel in the pre owned truck took a month to get floor mats. They sold this truck with 6k damages that they failed to disclose and denied everything. State farm was able to tell where and when it happened. Very disappointed with the whole experience and every time i take my truck for service never get notified when they are done or find things or anything. My husband and I visited Ray Skillman to look for something to replace our outdated and failing minivan. We were shown a few vehicles and ended up test driving a Mitsubishi Outlander. It had low miles and was a wonderful test drive. They were ok with us driving it home and filling out paperwork later. We thought it was a great deal. It was low miles and was one of Skillman's Certified used cars. It came with a 4 month, 4,000-mile warranty. Fast forward a month and the air conditioning stopped working. My husband tried to contact our salesman who has yet to contact us back after multiple tries and messages. He took it to their service department and was told it would only take an hour to diagnose. 4 hours later they told him there was a leak and it would be over $600 to repair. We were told the warranty does not cover. This was insane and horrible customer service for a "Certified" vehicle. We will NEVER shop at Skillman Autos and we will have our own mechanic fix the issue! read more

After going there to get my car fixed I am shocked that they have a rating as high as 2.5 out of 5. Their service is absolutely awful, I would have expected it to be in the 1.0 range only because people can't give them a 0.0. They make a lot of promises but never keep any. I was told my car was in the garage being looked at for three days in a row. They told me they would call me as soon as they found the problem. It has been there over a week and they have never called me back. I call every day to hear them tell me, yep we will have it in the garage to look at today. They also tell me that there was an emergency or priority car that came in that needed service before mine. Who in the world prioritizes customers while others are stuck with no car. What happened to first come, first served. I have read a lot of the other reviews on Yelp and can see that I am not the only person that feels these people are liars and con men. read more

I can't find the Kia/ import location, but the service was great and I think it was a fair price. I wish they had coupons like Butler for Oil changes. A couple of things that need fixed. You walk in they tell you about refreshments and complimentary cookies and brownies. after about 35 minutes of waiting i finally grabbed a brownie, I started choking on it do to being stale. I ran to where the coffee was supposed to be, No coffee was made, no water bottles around. and two employees walked by and even bothered to help locate the coffee so that I can make some more. I am not a king who needs to be served. Point me in the right direction and I will make some more. 1.5 hours for an oil change, that was scheduled, no refreshments, Almost choking was not fun but that is my own fault for inhaling the brownie.... at $70.00 for an oil change you would expect these *extra* amenities. read more

I bought my Hyundai at the Ray Skillman location on the West side, but have taken it to this dealership several times for service. I've always been happy with the results, and the pricing is very competitive compared to what I've found at other Hyundai dealerships around town (ahem, Butler and Palmer). The service desk employees have always made an annoying task much easier and have been great with helping to get me in a rental car from the next-door Enterprise Rental. If you have a Hyundai and are looking for a place to get it serviced in Indy, I recommend checking out this location. You might also want to call all the Hyundai dealerships in town and get a price quote. I did that before committing to a 60,000 mile standard service, and found that Skillman offered the best price and did so in the most haggle-free, non-salesy manner. read more

I went back to Ray Skillman Greenwood location after I had a check engine light on, a bit weary after a bad experience previously at Ray Skillman automall Indianapolis esp the finance guy, where I bought my car. Roy Potter the service guy immediately took care of the car , gave me a very new loaner car free of charge!! He explained to me what the cost was going to be and he went above and beyond.to have my warranty company to get them to pay for the injector which had to be replaced. I am very impressed with the service in this Ray Skillman location. However, I would avoid the Ray Skillman auto mall in Indy though as they are very rude and are not willing to work with you. read more

From the moment I walked in the door the salesmen tried to upsell me. Showed me and my wife a car that was a little above budget but not bad. The salesmen work in teams the car they showed was getting ready to be serviced so could not test drive. This was on a Saturday. My daughter and wife went on Tuesday to test drive car but could not because it was on the lift. They said the car could be test driven on Thursday. Thursday morning they talked to my wife and she said we would be in latter after her husband got off of work. I received a text about an hour before I left work that the car had been sold. I know they could sell the car at anytime but they knew we were coming in. Called to see if they could make me another deal and to say I was disappointed. I asked about new ones and they were willing to give me the same deal any Kia dealership would give me. I said I have been dealing with them for 15 years at bought three cars from them want could they do to keep my business. At this time they have not made a deal with me. I bought a 2016 F150 Lariat, from Ray Skillman, with less than 10,000 miles on it when it was traded in. I purchased the $4,000 extended service agreement that went into effect last month. Now, they tell me they do not take appointments for service. You may make an appointment to have your vehicle placed on their lot; but, not to have it serviced. That will be done at their discretion when they can "work it in". It may be tomorrow, or, a week from tomorrow. Bye the way, there are no "courtesy" vehicles; no matter when you set your appointment. In fact, here, good luck finding courtesy anywhere for a customer. The only reason I gave them one star is because I know they do have the ability to repair a vehicle if you can park it on their lot long enough. I have always used Ray Skillman Chevrolet, for my service; now, they have also done away with courtesy vehicles. Has Ray Skillman, became so large that they really don't care about your patronage? I bought a 2013 Hyundai Accent hatchback through the buy here pay here on September 25th, 2020. Before test driving the vehicle, I noticed that the paint on the driver side looked different in one spot from the rest of the paint. When I asked the sales person if the car had been in an accident he said that he didn't think so and that it could've been paint wearing off. When I asked him to print off the car facts for the vehicle, he never gave them to me. I asked again later down the road after buying the vehicle to find out that my car had been in an accident. Unfortunately our experience hasn't been the best. We were sold a used truck with a remote starter, but after we signed all of the contracts, they handed us a valet key. Not only could we not use the remote start (a feature they advertised while trying to sell is) nor unlock/lock the truck with buttons, but we didn't even have a spare key. They told us they couldn't do anything for us and told us where we could order an actual key (at our expense). When we walked into the parking lot and went to drive away, the alarm went off. Every time we unlocked the door with this valet key, that would happen so we walked back in and threw a complete fit and they finally agreed to give us an actual key (still not a remote start key, but one that didn't set the alarm off) for our new purchase. I assumed a functioning key was part of the sales price. Now, one month later, our fuel sensor is failing. They stand behind their used trucks with a four month warranty... but of course, it doesn't cover this $500 repair. The service tech called the sales team to see if they could work with us at all to get the price down considering how new the vehicle is and they refused. We spent $30,000 on a used vehicle and they have made this a terrible experience. We have bought both new and used vehicles here for the past 15 years and we will never be back. read more

Took my wife's Kia in because the brakes were seizing up and couldn't get moving from park. They said they'd fix it and do an inspection of the all the brakes. Cost us $1500. Went to the service center here (8424 U.S. 31 South) today to get a cooling system flush. Told the clerk that I needed an oil change also but was told over the phone that they would only do synthetic oil. The girl said that was not true and asked if I was sure I was talking to someone at that location. She said that if I did not want synthetic oil I would get regular old fashion oil, and everything would include a free car wash. She seemed nice and appeared as if she knew what she was talking about so I told her I'd get the oil changed too. I told her I was considering new shocks also and asked her if she would have them look at mine and let me know if new shocks would make for a better ride. She said she would do that. After waiting a couple of hours for them to do the work I was ready to go. As I was leaving I noticed that the car had not been washed as promised. After further investigation I noticed that nothing had been topped off. I thought that was customary; maybe not, not here anyway. And, upon reviewing their inspection sheet (inspection included with any service) I noticed they had not pointed out the problem with my rear wiper. I would have been happy to pay extra money to get that fixed, but somehow they missed it. And, their paperwork also said they put in synthetic oil. It did not include any information on shocks. I don't know if they don't like me or if they're just not knowing what they are doing. Maybe they were upset because I didn't purchase my SUV there. I haven't purchased a vehicle from Ray Skillman since the 90s. I don't remember that being a bad deal. I got this car back during the holidays and thought the dealership was the best place to get service. It only has 61K miles. But, definitely not this dealership. I called the service department. It had been about 15 or 20 minutes since I'd left. He said to come back and get the car wash. I thought it would be best to address the other issues when I got there, but when I got there he said the car wash was broken and for me to come back next week. No confrontation or anything, I'm not going to try to discuss anything with people who don't know the truth from a lie. At this point I'm concerned that they did not even do any of the work. And, I won't be back for that free car wash, I doubt that they could do that correctly either. They would probably break something if they haven't already, or even if they have. When I thought this was finished, now I have to find someone who can do the job right. Now I know where not to buy a car. read more

I am pretty disappointed how this whole process took place. You all had good news that I was approved, I drove to 1.5 hrs one way the other night to drive the Jeep, was sat down for about 10 minutes only to say we are at the mercy of banking hours and told my payment would be around 600...no idea what my car came in at or no chance to actually negotiate or crunch numbers. Was told the next day that more work was gonna be done to try to get better rate and financing...I had to reach out at the end of the day yesterday..and got some ridiculous excuse about phone being put on airplane mode. I have been to this Dealership a lot lately. My visits were on February 5th, 2018 and November 3rd, 2018. Our Sales agent Josh Sterrett and Team are amazing. I choose Josh this time as well because of his positive attitude and tremendous support. I used to think they all were crooked. Josh is very energetic and enthusiastic about cars and getting people in the right vehicle for them without breaking the bank. One of the things I enjoyed with Josh is he doesn't try and up sale you on anything you don't need or make you feel like your a bother. I purchased by first vehicle with Ray Skillman in 2006; a 2008 Chevy Impala 2LT. My second vehicle I purchased with Ray Skillman as well, a 2018 Kia Optima, and finally, my current car, a 2020 Kia Telluride. My experiences have always been good so I didn't think anything of having to go to Ray Skillman South today. I reached out to the sales department online (in the midst of COVID I wanted to do as much as I could online before sitting in a dealership) and was contacted by salesman Joe Fenoglio. I expressed to him wanting to do as much as I could online and he obliged. This was today, 7/20 about noon. I filled out the credit application, relinquished all documents he asked for and told him I'd be to the dealership about 6pm to hopefully sign and drive. I was very specific in the amount of money I was wanting to put down and where I wanted my payments to be. My mother is older so we were looking to get her into the small SUV; a 2019 Nissan KICKS. Again, was very explicit in saying this to Joe and filled out the application accordingly. About 530pm I hadn't heard anything additional so I texted Joe, asked him had we been approved with the amount we were wanting to put down as well as the payments where we wanted them to be. He stated "we are good we just have to sign off on preliminary paperwork and well get you all down to finance." About 537pm I asked if she was approved (wanted to confirm before I drove all the way to the dealership and I expressed this to him. Again, we are in the midst of a pandemic and I am eliminating unnecessary driving and contact.) He said "your[you're] approved." I then texted and asked what documents we needed to bring to which he stated proof of insurance, drivers license and money down. Simple. Unfortunately I did not make it to the dealership until about 6:40pm; 40 minutes after I had originally planned. I pulled up to the dealership to find the car right at the front so my mother and I immediately began checking it out. After about 5 minutes a man came out, began walking toward me and I asked was he Joe and he confirmed. We looked around the vehicle, he provided us with the key and the plate and we took it out for a test drive. We came back and since I've been communicating with Joe for a good part of the day, relinquished all information, application already on file, I am expecting to have to sign the "prelim paperwork" pay the money and we drive home. Within in minutes of signing the paper work (less than 5) and Joe saying he is sending the papers to finance he comes back to my mother and I and says "I have some bad news, the car is already written up to be sold to someone else. I mean I was going to call you guys just a little bit ago but then I saw you guys were out here so I didn't and I mean, we can't hold it." Hold it? There was no hold needed when I was literally in the process of buying the car. I submitted everything asked for hours earlier. It leads me to believe he didn't do anything aside from a hard inquiry on her credit report. How else would the car still be in the system and available for purchase, WITHIN the same dealership? How Joe? Was this car taken from under your nose? Won't you receive commission on the purchase? Or did you, Joe, sell the car to someone else? I am still, completely perplexed by this situation. I'm not sure whether to call it racism, whether it's discrimination, but I do know that it is flat out bad business. It makes no sense to me at all. To finish things off, when he delivered the news he had no follow up, no suggestion of a different car, no were you interested in anything else, nothing but a "I got some bad news folks." It was as though the car was poached right from under my nose by the mere salesman I was working with. I'm not sure if in his experience people didn't show up, but the application should have been more than enough for him to know I was serious. The fact that I touched base with him all day, throughout the day, the fact that I reached out to him an hour before I arrived. If he needed a card on file or a deposit to "hold" the car in which I was applying for, I would have been glad to do it. I am completely disgusted with the way this was handled. One word: fantastic! I bought my FIFTH vehicle on Saturday from them. They always go above and beyond. I have bought three Kias, a Chevrolet Aveo, and a 2018 GMC Canyon. They spent a lot of time with me to make sure that I got the car that I wanted and could afford. They are the first place I shop when buying a car. On Saturday, they really went beyond my expectations to get me into the Canyon that I wanted. I appreciate their help immensely. If zero were and option that's what I would give them. These salesmen are just that and dont care about how someones life will be affected by their tricky tactics. They saw us coming a mile away. Our cars were on their last limb and they let us use them as trade in value, plus a down payment. They chose our cars for us and told us they were the only option. They denied our request to know how much we would be paying and how much the interest would be. They ran our credit 18 times each. The salesman said "we'll get to that, sign here" for pretty much everything we asked about the terms. We didnt know our interest rate or payment until we were signing the bottom of the contract and had already signed off ownership of our other two cars. This was the first time either of us had been in a car loan and not just bought our cars outright. I've paid over 9k in the year and a couple months I've had the car. Only 700 of that was principal. MY INTEREST RATE IS 23.49%. My husband is sending his car back. He hates it and resents it because he never wanted a car to begin with, they told him that's all they could put him in. They purposely put us in cars they knew we couldnt afford and withheld the knowledge until they knew we had to sign the rest or we had no vehicles. My girlfriend talked to the "internet lady" at the Buick part of this auto empire who promised her that they were giving $6000 off of certain models and could get her into a car at a monthly payment she could afford. They spoke on multiple occasions and my girlfriend clearly spelled EXACTLY out what payment she could afford, what her credit was like and the condition of her trade. Bottom line is that this lady said whatever she had to say to get my girlfriend in the door. When she got to the dealership, it was revealed that the finance guy was never consulted and that everything this lady was an outright lie. Hmmm, I wonder if good ol' Ray pays his internet lady a bounty for every head through the door? Seems like he does. The payment they came up with was $650, about half of what I pay on my mortgage and twice what she could afford!!! Now I don't want to paint everyone there with this same brush, as I'm sure there are good people that work there. But the troglodyte internet lady should burn in hell for the outright lies and misrepresentations she made to get my girlfriend to come to the dealership. In the end it turned out to be a colossal waste of time for everyone involved and our free time is very valuable. We will never shop for a car there again. We value honesty and transparency in who we deal with, this lady was anything but. I think Ray Skillman has terrible customer service I have my car and in the collision shop and I also have a flat tire which is covered and our road hazard warranty or something that I have and when I asked the collision shop if they could go ahead and change it and fix it they told me that I had to take it back up to where I bought it from because they can't do anything about it but when I called Ray Skillman Chevy I was told that Ray Skillman on 31 could take care of it but then I called back again today and spoke to Ryan and he said no they can't do anything about it it just seems real inconvenient that after it's fixed at the collision center then I have to take it to another dealership Ray Skillman Chevy or Ray Skillman GM to have the tire change so I have to go there and sit around and wait for a couple hours or however long it's gonna take I just think that's horrible customer service when it's already in getting fixed they could just take the car right over to the service department and get a tire on it therefore I will never ever buy another car from Ray Skillman if this is the way that they treat their customers read more

I have gone to Ray Skillman for the past twenty (20) years and have greatly appreciated their level of professionalism in dealing with not only the sale of a new car, but also the service. Roy Potter, Jr. sets the bar as a Service Advisor. He is polite, courteous, flexible, professional, and says what he will do and does what he says. I have gotten to know Roy over the past few years in dealing with him and have to say that he has set the standard for my level of expectations. There are many reasons why you would take a car to a dealership for service. I find that professionalism, candor, and integrity are very high on my list and Skillman gets a check in the box for each one. This place is a ripoff!!!! I received a coupon from mitsubishi for $20 off an oil change, but the lady will not honor it! She said that they have to charge me $20 more to use the coupon!
