I wore a hat for 4 days!!!! I went in for a Sat morning appt with Melissa asking for balayage and was talked into highlights. I wanted my grey roots covered but since I was between two colors on the chart we decided on the shade slightly lighter than my natural medium brown to do an all over color and then get highlights as well. WELL, after 4.5 hours, you can see that what I asked for and what was discussed is CLEARLY not what I ended up with. When I got home and saw just how orange my hair was, I immediately called the salon but Melissa had already left for the day, so I left my name and number and asked for her to call me back ASAP....3 days later (they are closed Sun and Mon), I called back again and cried to the manager (Ellen) saying how I haven't been able to take my hat off in 3 days and that I wanted a refund. She said refunds are not their policy and basically gave me two options: 1) come in for a color correction, or 2) have a nice day. Since I would not go back to this salon Ever, she said there was nothing else she could do. She also said Melissa informed her that my color was "what we discussed in the consultation before the coloring process started".....no, Melissa. Looking like Carrot Top is not what we discussed. Been a Client for many years and this is without a doubt the best in the area. Adrian cuts my hair regularly but any stylist in the salon can do a great job. Appointments are easy to get; they are very accommodating with their hours. I strongly recommend you try Raymond Salon N Spa. These last 3 months must have been especially hard for Ray and his team. Raymond Salon is an excellent place, and I can not say enough great things about the care, service, and people here. I'm a professional musician and a chief-level executive that is able to get the cut that draws the line perfectly between the two (not easy to do - rock star/corporate guy). I've been coming here for over 25 years and am completely happy. It's not the cheapest place in the world to get a cut, but you certainly get what you pay for! Been going to this salon for almost 10 years.. Ray does the best haircut. Getting layers for Asian hair is tough but he does it so perfectly and meticulously. Salon is very neat and I've never had a bad experience. I've had color done by Lisa and she is great as well. Thank you guys!! read more

I have been coming to this salon for over thirty years. I don't believe in changing hair dressers once you find a GREAT ONE! Ray has been doing my hair all these years and I won't let anyone else touch it. I recently went to FL for 2 months and was afraid to let anyone there color my roots. Fortunately because of the sunshine, my hair held up. The salon is nicely decorated, clean and the staff is friendly. I feel the prices are great compared to what I hear my friends pay. I love Ray and Laurie like family and will continue going until Ray retires which I hope is not soon! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The ONLY good stylist here is Nicole. Adrian was my friend's stylist/hair dresser and gave her no personalized attention - he had 3 appointments at once, running back and forth between them all. Let me start off by saying that I do not live in New Jersey. I was in Somerset for a full-weekend wedding, and needed to find a salon to get my hair blown out. After finding Raymond Salon & Spa, I quickly called and made an appointment without researching too much. The salon was about 15 minutes from my hotel, and very easy to find. There was a private parking lot with ample parking. The girl at the desk was really friendly, as were all of the stylists. My hair was done by Shelana (sorry if I mis-spelled!), and she did a great job. I got numerous compliments that night about my hair, and it held for a day or two after. The products they use are high-end (Moroccan Oil, Redken, etc.), and smelled amazing. Plus this place is super affordable (I paid $30 for a wash and blow). If I ever find myself in this area of NJ again, I'm definitely coming back! read more

I recently moved to NJ-- so I needed to find a new stylist. I cycled through three shops before finding Raymond Salon N Spa. I'm very pleased with the Salon and the services. I love the fact that the Salon provides a courtesy call to confirm the appointment. The appointments always seem to run on time, which is great cause I hate to wait. The front desk stuff seem not to care about their clients. Not very friendly. The one girls who washes hair has really sharp long fingernails and scratched my scalp over and over. Not a very pleasant experience. Ray is a really nice guy, friendly and fun to talk too. Cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, at least the first 2 times. The 3rd and 4th time I pointed out a couple of things about my hair, not sure if he really listend and understood. Stacey is a great stylist. She only works a few days a week so plan ahead. She always listens to what you want and is quick but thorough.

Ray has done my hair a few times now, cut and color. He does a beautiful job. The front desk is very friendly and the place is very nice.

These people are nasty and unprofessional. We visited the cafe next door one day, and parked in the only spot available in the lot, which happened to be in the salon's half of the shared lot. When we returned, we found a nasty note on the window with something like "can't you read? Our sign says NO trucks" -- meanwhile, someone that works at the salon drives a pickup and was parked there then and IS parked right in front of one of their signs as I type this... Not to mention we weren't even in a truck! It's a wagon!! How rude is that? I considered possibly going to this salon, but after this experience, I will never give them my money. We thought about going in and saying something to the manager or owner, but instead I decided to share our experience everyone... read more

Horrible front desk staff and stylists with attitudes. Went here on a few occasions and each time I went my stylist either rolled her eyes about other customers or employees and talked about salon problems to me. I am not one to enjoy this during my hair cuts and colors. Won't be coming back here...appreciate the customers you have and stop driving them elsewhere! read more

I was staying in a hotel nearby and looked up local places to get my hair done. I saw that this place got good reveiws on yelp so i decided to give it a try. When I called and made the appointment, I asked how much it would cost for a blowout with some curls and they said $23. Nicole did my hair. When I got in the chair I asked for a blowout with some loose curls on the bottom and lots of body on top. My natural hair is shoulder length, stick straight and very easy to work with. As nicole was blowing my hair, I saw that she was making it very flat on top so I said please try to give it more volume on top. She said she'd try but continued to make it flat. After she blew it out straight, she used a curling iron to curl it. It took over an hour, which is insanely long for my type of hair. It came out super curly which is not what I asked for but I didnt make a big deal because it looked ok. When I went up to pay after, they told me it was $60!! I told them that I was told 23 on the phone and they said "We consider your hair formal so that costs $60." That's $37 more for using a curling iron! I didn't even ask them to use a curling iron! I asked them why they didn't tell me the actual price on the phone and they said "We should have. We're sorry but there's nothing we can do. Its $60." Bottom line: THEY LIE ABOUT THEIR PRICES! I moved to Somerset about a year ago after getting married. I've been looking for a good local place to get my haircut as I've been going to the Hair Cuttery out in East Brunswick. I drove past this salon on my way home from work a few times but never got the chance to make an appointment and go. Looking on their website they seemed really strict about their appointments and it seemed like it was going to be difficult to get one. I was pleasantly surprised when I called and they were able to take me in 30 minutes. The receptionist was friendly and prompt. When I got there, I barely had to wait and the salon was clean, elegant and well lit, although a little on the small side. Nicole was friendly and did a nice job shampooing my hair. I showed her a few pictures of what I'd like my hair to look like as I've been getting the same layered cut for years. She seemed confident in what she was doing. She took a good amount of time cutting my hair in a seemingly precise way. Because I didn't get it styled immediately I couldn't tell to the extent of how my haircut was done until I got home. I asked before I left if she had done the "face framing" portion of my cut and she said , "Oh, let me fix that for you". If I hadn't asked, I would have left without that too. She re-set me up and continued with the cut. Unfortunately at this point I didn't really have a great impression. I paid 30$ for the cut (I pay 15 at hair cuttery) and to be honest after styling really wasn't happy with it. I feel like I received a haphazard haircut which I had to try to make better myself by suggesting a few things. The layers weren't even and usually my hair feels lighter after the cut but all it looked like I got done was a trim. Nicole had told me she had been cutting hair for 3 years so I was expecting better. Maybe a different stylist would be better. Needless to say, I won't be going back to find out and am sticking to taking the extra time to go to hair cuttery in East Brunswick. read more

I used to be a frequent customer here a few years back, and after moving back to the area I was excited to start becoming a regular again. Recently, I booked an appointment for a quick service and they agreed that if I got there in 20 minutes I would be taken care of. I arrive there in less than 20 minutes and was ready for my appointment. After waiting a long time, the front desk receptionist told me that my stylist was in the bathroom and I had to wait. I found that odd, but I said no problem I will wait. I then overheard a conversation with 2 hair dressers that they did not want to take my appointment for some reason. Totally confused, I asked the receptionist what was going on and she flat out lied and told me that they could not find my stylist. I immediately asked for a manager to see what was going on but all I got was an attitude back. Needless to say, I will not be coming back to this business and would definitely not recommend this salon. read more
