    Garbage Sandwich
    Olivia S.

Super cute and tiny diner tucked into downtown Excelsior Springs! When I say tiny, I mean tiny. There's counter seating and a couple of tables/booths, and there isn't even room to wait inside. If you are waiting for space, you'll have to stand outside! Don't plan on bringing more than 2 people if you want to guarantee sitting together. Service was quick, considering there's only one person working the grill. The servers turn over seats quickly! I'm something of a breakfast sandwich expert, and the garbage sandwich is definitely something you should order. The crispy hash browns, soft bun, and delicious processed cheese create the perfect diner bite.

Delicious breakfast with friendly service at a reasonable price. I try to support local businesses whenever possible. I will be returning for sure.

TR who works at Halls of Water recommended Ray's when I asked where he would go for lunch. He said their burgers are really good and he was spot on ! This is a short walk from the Halls of Water museum. The diner was full with one table open. Everyone was having a good 'ole time. Upon walking in, you get the impression everyone knows each other. Debbie was right over to take our order, we had just missed breakfast so we looked to the right side of the menu. The chicken strips basket caught my eye. There were two hand sized strips and plenty of fries in a basket. My husband had the cheeseburger and while small, it was Perfect and tasty ! Definitely worth coming to if you're in Excelsior Springs !!! Thanks ladies.

This is the cutest little diner. The ladies running it are so friendly and attentive. Everything we had was wonderful. The portions are huge, and the prices are cheap!

Classic small town diner with simple, great tasting food and great service. The diner was clean, server was quick and attentive, coffee and breakfast were hot, and the bill was affordable. Great local spot!

Ray's was such a cute little place to eat! Their cheeseburgers were just the right size for a little something to eat. I would highly recommend the double! It had an amazing small diner feel!

I got the Cheeseburger and fries and my date had the grilled cheese with chili cheese fries. The service was great. It's a very small diner. We scored a seat in a booth by luck. The burger is small and they advertise it that way. It was perfect for me. They overload you with fries, and they were great. Pictured, I had not even touched the fries. My date said the grilled cheese was as expected and the chili cheese fries were not the best. She said next time she wants to go for breakfast to get the garbage sandwich. Get there early if you want breakfast because they stop serving prior to when they start shutting down for the day. We were there at 1300 and there was no breakfast. Closing is at 1400. We enjoyed it and good folks run the place. Next time we will show earlier.

No "welcome" just "what do you need". We thought based on online reviews (and no website for restaurant only for golf course) that it was a restaurant with a menu. It is NOT. there is only a small cafe menu with sandwiches and bagged chips, canned sodas. She said "if you saw a pork tenderloin online we dont do that for two years and we cant get it off the internet". when i said "well the golf course has no section on the website for 'golf hill grille' at all so maybe they could start there" she rolled her eyes as if my very common sense suggestion was insulting. But i just said it. i wasnt trying to be rude. Just making a very obvious suggestion that would solve the issue. She then said "we just have some sandwiches but its really for the players so do you want something?" We took our family of 4 elsewhere to eat. Cant recommend.
