I ordered my BT Boss Burger well done with a side of onion rings... Service was nice and attentive. Good came out reasonably fast but unfortunately after looking really tasty and taking my first bite, I realized the meat was not fully cooked (like raw) and had to send it back. They were very sorry for the problem and fixed the issue but after biting into what looked like a rare patty, my appetite was kinda killed. Just WOW. If you love patty melt's, I highly recommend trying the brisket burger melt. It's simply yummy. My husband liked his burger which came with fries. The service was good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. If you're staying at the Holiday Inn or nearby at the Orangewood which is walking distance, give this place a shot. read more

I found out about this place in the 2020 a restaurant week and finally got around to trying it (thanks Covid) and it did not disappoint! We started off with happy hour 3-6pm with some beers and fried mushrooms served with a tangy horse radish sauce. After we ordered our burgers. The choices were endless with the burgers you could create and they had a hefty list to choose from as well. I created my own with one patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and a garlic mayo. I generally don't recommend restaurants inside of hotels, with the exception of really high-end places in the nicest hotels in the big cities. Places like Burger Theory, inside the Holiday Inn near the KC airport, fall into the "serviceable" category. Don't expect a great meal, or great service, when average will do. When you have a built-in clientele (hotel guests), you don't have to work as hard. Burger Theory hit its mark of being just average. The bartender/waitress was doing a fine job manning the taps. The menu, full of typical American pub fare, looked good, if uninspired. The prices, moderate, which a traveler appreciates. The burger, pretty much forgettable. Edible, yes, but small and bland. Opted for onion rings ($1 more) but tartar sauce came in little tear-open packets instead of fresh and homemade. (See what I mean? Serviceable and predictable but nothing special.) Disappointed in the portion size of onion rings, I expected more. Would I eat here again if I was staying at this hotel? Likely yes, if I didn't want to drive anywhere. But I'm sure you KC locals have your favorite spots without needing to find this little place inside a hotel. read more

Friendly service. The food was just ok. The burgers were clearly previous frozen but tasted adequate for a burger. This burger joint is located in the holiday inn which is probably why they aren't going all out for their meat. You can get the burgers as a single or a double. They range from $9-$13 and they do come with fries or a side salad and you can get onion rings for a dollar more. We also got the brownie sundae which you could tell was made with cheap ice cream and syrups. This is more of a 2.5 for everything including food and service. My boyfriend and I had a long day and it was time for dinner. We were in the area and saw Burger Theory and wanted to check it out. We didn't know it was located inside in the Holiday Inn. We were seated right away and that when things weren't looking so good. Lots of problem, only one person as a server, bartender, and taking orders. Not only she forgot some of our orders but she seems distraught. We waited over an hour for our burgers, we also order some wings and beer and they were never brought out. Lots of chaos inside the kitchen, which we get but we really thought we were forgotten and our food came out cold. It wasn't the best and maybe we went on a bad night. The bigger issue with the shrimp is that it taste more like a sweet chili without any heat. The burger wasn't too bad here. Got a philly cheesesteak burger with the fries and the meat was cooked pretty well. I really enjoyed the taste of the burger because it was well seasoned and also tasted like a philly cheesesteak. I don't know how you would make a cheesesteak into a burger but this place has done it. The peppers and onions melted in your mouth, the bun was cooked just right with a buttery crust. This place at the Holiday Inn holds you hostage. There is no place else to go, so it's this place or nothing. Sofie had a salad with chicken. Breakfast - They have a buffet or you can order off of a breakfast menu. The buffet had a decent number of food items. Bacon and scrambled eggs were good. Lunch - We ate here several times for lunch. The hamburgers were delicious. The french fries were well seasoned and arrived hot. I highly recommend a side order of their parmesan panko onion rings. They are so crunchy. If you have ever eaten at a Portillo's restaurant in the Chicago area, the onion rings at Burger Theory are very Portillo-like and that is a good thing. I ordered the Panko crusted fish sandwich. Very good. The sanwich was big enough that I took home half of it in a carry out container. This is probably one of the best hotel restaurants I have eaten at. This place is inside the Holiday Inn. It is literally the only thing to eat within a 7-minute drive from this hotel. Bartender Ashley was friendly and did a good job. So: the fries at this place: awesome. The burger I got was their signature BT boss. It's a stuffed burger and I was told that it was the best burger on their menu. Don't. Get. This. Cooks must change here a lot. The one guy next to me said "I've been here before and it was pretty good, this is terrible." Terrible was one way to put it, it was nothing. I consumed calories and ate food, but there was zero flavor. Bottom line: Burger Theory could sell bowls of lucky charms. I stayed at this Holiday Inn a little over a year ago and honestly thought the food was better back then. The ambiance of the place is very appealing, however the bar is rather small with maybe 8 seats, so would be much better for larger groups. As far as the burger, it was very good, well plated and packed with flavor. The fries were a bit cold, but if they came out fresh would be very good as well. The best part is clearly the onion rings, I only had one since it came on the burger I ordered (lone star burger,) but could tell it was great. The service could take a lesson in professionalism, not that the service was bad, but the little things you don't like seeing the servers/bartenders doing.
