Owner of Analog Vault here in Cedar Rapids IA, we sell records, CD's, Cassettes and Vintage Audio…read moreGear. We also do audio equipment repairs, unfortunately we can only do speaker refoams here in the shop, discovered Orban Audio speaker repair when I needed a woofer from an AR3 to be rebuilt (totally thrashed voice coil) and now I just got back from Orban a set of JBL L-26 woofers that he rebuilt for me, and all I can say is WOW! In both cases the workmanship was top quality, service was excellent and prompt. Being a repair tech myself I always appreciate good workmanship and Orban delivers! Highly recommend.

March of 2026 I bought a pair of Dahlquest DQ10 speakers. I took them home and after listening to…read morethem they sounded as I remembered them, I owned a new pair in 1980. The only problem was the woofers did not sound correct. I took the cover off and noticed the woofers needed re foamed, a frequent problem. The DQ10's has 5 drivers in them and a complicated crossover system. The woofer is a popular 10" Advent, masonite front, mounted in a 12" frame. The woofers foam has a reverse roll, unique to the DQ-10. When I received them, I posted a photo of them on a Dahlquest facebook group I belong to. I was documenting my restoration of the speakers with knowledgeable individuals. Someone pointed out the foam were installed incorrectly and after watching a video on Simply Speakers I agreed. When I brought this to Micheal's attention, he told me they are correct and that people on the internet do not know what they are talking about. If I wanted them reversed, I would have to pay for it. There were several other problems, that I wouldn't go into detail. I have provided a picture of the crossover problem. I found Micheal to be unchanging in his thoughts, as if he knew everything and didn't want any advice. I have a degree in Electronic Engineering and I look for help if I'm not sure of something. I can not recommend Orban Audio and will never use him in the future. Link to Simply Speakers: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwCFRpw-O1RO3dlUA9is5gA

Good audio gear repair shops in the Midwest are hard to come by, and excellent ones such as this…read moreare even more rare. Im so thankful I took my gear to them instead of shipping it off to an authorized tech in NYC. They saved me several hundred dollars and did great work in a timely manner. This was on a custom hand made dj mixer from Australia with no manual to reference mind you. The variety of different gear they are able to work on is staggering. After I found their entrance it was smooth sailing. They also back their work for 30 days so you really can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

I would call them weekly and for the first month the response was we haven't gotten to it. Ok if work is ahead of me I accept that. because of my repeated calls I was told they would move me up on the list to have the tech make a diagnostic evaluation on it which never ever happened. Then after that it was BS about having to build some "special diagnostic software" to access the ethernet port on the back of the amplifier or equipment to make an assessment. they told me they couldn't get enough information from the manufacturer or off the Internet. I could except that for a repair are you telling me place that repairs amplifiers can't even do a general diagnostic evaluation on an amplifier for god sake?? Then finally after two months I called to just tell them I wanted to come pick up my amp and take it someplace else and their response was "we are out on the road for a week with the some band but we'll see if we can find anybody to let you in to the store so you can get your amplifier." what a joke this place is. They have no business whatsoever advertising home audio equipment repair. The only thing I got for my money was excuse after excuse about why they had done nothing and a bunch of BS. They could not even provide me a guess what might be wrong with it based upon a bench evaluation by one of their techs. It is really hard to find audio equipment repair shops nowadays as everything is disposable but I can tell you this, Pro Sound certainly isn't one of them! Stay away if you need stereo repair.
