Wonderful Spanish immersion center with warm, attentive and highly qualified staff. Our 5 year old daughter and 6 year old son had a wonderful time here over the summer and learned a lot about the Spanish language and Latino culture. Thank you and we will DEFINITELY be back next year!

Note that we were interested in the Mandarin program, so my observations shared here are mainly based on that aspect. This model should be replicated nationwide. Growing up, my parents had to choose between a public German immersion school and our local parochial school. They prioritized faith, which was the right call, but at All Souls, parents don't have to make that compromise--you get both! Dr. Allison is the principal, and after multiple conversations, it was clear how much he "gets it." He has an extensive background in education, and seems like exactly the person you would trust in charge of a growing and thriving school like this. He instills confidence. We met with teachers, parents, and staff, and everyone is kind and the teachers seem like great educators. The classes have very good teacher-to-student ratios. The weekly schedule is better than essentially all other schools, including early release on Fridays (perfect time to schedule doctor appts, dental appts, music lessons, etc.) and Mass only every other week (which is smart because it doesn't burn the kids out on it). Also, it is a very food-allergy-friendly school, with no nut/peanut classrooms TK-2 just to name one thing. For anyone weighing the benefits of language immersion against a faith-based environment, All Souls proves you really can have both without compromise.

The current principal works hard. I think the Spanish program is still decent but academically this school is behind public schools. A lot of kids leave needing intervention or tutoring unless your kid is academically way ahead. I love the small class sizes and loving environment but we left due to the huge teacher turnover resulting in some grades with terrible teachers. If they beef up the academics a bit there may be hope.

Our biggest issue was communication. The school moved her between classrooms more than once without discussing it with us first. Our repeated requests to move her back went unanswered, and updates on how she was doing were few and far between. Our daughter was struggling at IMA and it was clear that the school did not have the skills or staff to support her. Their approach was not a good fit for our daughter. If your child may need individualized support or a more communicative partnership with caregivers, I'd encourage you to ask detailed questions before enrolling. Our daughter was in Ms. Kenia and Ms. Citlally's class, and the growth we've witnessed has been remarkable. Key Highlights of IMA: Exceptional Teachers and Staff: Ms. Kenia and Ms. Citlally, along with the entire staff, are truly loving, warm, and caring. The environment they cultivate is exactly what we had hoped for. A special thank you to Ms. Susie and Ms. Ivy for their dedication and kindness. Enriching Afterschool Program: We were very impressed with the breadth of their afterschool offerings, which included wonderful exposure to Spanish, Mandarin, and Yoga. Outstanding Communication: One thing we truly appreciate is how great IMA is at communicating with parents. This clear and proactive communication made us feel connected and informed every step of the way. We are truly sad to be leaving IMA. It is a fantastic place for children to learn, grow, and thrive in a warm and nurturing setting. Thank you again to the wonderful teachers and staff!

My 6 yr old boy learned how to read, speak new words, memorize lines, for their end of the week play. My daughter 8 yr old improved her vocabulary and speed. What I appreciate most is the focus on preserving a cultural tradition that is deeply meaningful to us. Spanish is a language that connects our family across generations, and having a program that helps my kids carry that forward is something I value more than I can express. Lango Foothills has helped reinforce the importance of keeping our heritage alive so it won't be lost over time. The instructors are warm, patient, and truly invested in the kids' growth. My children come home excited to share new words, songs, and conversations -- and that enthusiasm has brought even more Spanish back into our home. It's been beautiful to watch them build confidence and pride in speaking the language. I'm grateful for a program that not only teaches Spanish so effectively but also honors the cultural roots behind it. Mr. Justin, in particular, has gone out of his way to understand how my son learns and where he needs extra reinforcement. It never feels like a one-size-fits-all program; it's truly tailored support that meets him where he's at and helps him move forward at his pace. As a parent, my biggest concern has always been that he not only improves academically, but also feels capable of keeping up with his peers--and Huntington has been key in helping us move toward that goal. Our daughter was a founding student at Modern Schoolhouse in Eagle Rock. She attended TMS from when…read moreshe was 18 months until she graduated as a 4-year-old (when our family moved from LA to Denver). It's difficult to capture the gratitude and appreciation we have for Sue and her team in words. Modern Schoolhouse was an integral, joyful part of our family's life for several years. The teachers expertly crafted a safe, nurturing, and rigorous environment that provided a strong foundation for our daughter to blossom and grow. I feel like we will always look back on our enrollment at Modern Schoolhouse as one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. A few things stand out about TMS: CURRICULUM - Our daughter was enrolled in full-time childcare for a year prior to Modern Schoolhouse. However, it was unclear whether her previous caregivers were working toward any kind of goal (e.g., Kindergarten readiness) or if she was learning anything. That changed the instant we enrolled at TMS. I remember feeling skeptical when Sue asked us to purchase a special pack of flashcards. However, a few months later our 1.5 year-old daughter was recognizing the alphabet and making letter sounds at home. We were legitimately shocked! Preschool years are so important for kids to develop foundational skills and get broad exposure to different topics. Modern Schoolhouse delivers a learning experience that feels ambitious, but not forced. Our daughter was always engaged with the current unit (e.g., marine life, camping, etc.) and excited to go to school. That is the best feeling as a parent! The regular assessments and parent/teacher conferences helped us understand her progress and make a smooth transition to our new school in Colorado. CARE - At the same time that preschool aged children are exploring new academic concepts, they're also learning how to interact and play with other children. Modern Schoolhouse does such an excellent job helping their students communicate, manage their emotions, and engage with their classmates. At TMS our daughter learned things like how to ask for space and differentiate between good vs. bad choices. Teacher/staff transitions are inevitable and unavoidable in early childhood learning. What stood out to us about TMS was the quality and consistency of the team over the years and across classrooms. The teachers at Modern Schoolhouse helped us through the various ups and downs of life with a toddler and major transitions like potty training. Now that we're no longer enrolled at TMS, we're realizing that we took for granted how proactive and responsive the teachers were with their communication. The "ouch reports" from the playground, the quick responses to questions, it's all so important for parents - especially if this is your first childcare experience. COMMUNITY - Lastly, I want to highlight the broader Modern Schoolhouse community. Our daughter became very close with several other girls in her classroom and over time we became friends with their parents as well. TMS families are diverse, kind, and welcoming. I appreciated the music day potluck, annual art show, graduation, and the various other ways that Modern Schoolhouse brought everyone together to celebrate the students. Thank you Modern Schoolhouse! We will forever be grateful to you for the positive impact you had on our family.

We experienced ongoing communication issues while trying to enroll our daughter at The Modern…read moreSchoolhouse. Unfortunately, the lack of clear, timely communication throughout the admissions process ultimately led us to change directions for our daughter. Over the course of more than a month, we received conflicting information from multiple staff members about when our daughter would be able to start. We were consistently told she would begin in September 2026, only to later be told that August 3 was the only option. While that may seem like a small difference, many families plan childcare, work schedules, and finances months in advance, so changing the start date created unnecessary stress. Unfortunately, communication was the biggest issue. Multiple calls and emails took weeks to receive a response, and some were never returned. When we finally received a definitive answer, we were told it was essentially August 3 or nothing. To make matters worse, we were never clearly informed that there was a deadline after which our deposit would become non-refundable. Had that been communicated clearly, we could have made a more informed decision quicker. As a result, it felt like the school unfairly kept our $1,000 deposit because that deadline was never clearly communicated to us. Overall, our experience with the admissions and administrative process left us feeling that communication was disorganized and lacked transparency. For a school that parents are trusting with their children, clear, timely, and transparent communication is incredibly important. Unfortunately, the poor communication throughout this process was a significant red flag for me and my family.
